clarins radiance-plus self tanning cream-gel
Advantages: gives a nice glow if applied correctly, and no problem for sensitive skin
Disadvantages: lid doesnt stay on, can look patchy if skin is dry
...I have been using clarins radiance plus self tanning moisturising gel for a while now, this is because its the only self tan i have ever used that is good for sensitive skin. I wouldnt say it was very moisturising. I tend to still use my usual moisturiser on top of this product, as my skin goes quite dry if i use clarins radiance plus on its own. It does give a nice colour,as long as your skin is well moisturised and exfoliated before hand, otherwise it can make your skin look quite patchy and uneven. I have tried other moisturising self tan creams, and they are either no good for sensitive skin, makes your skin look too dark, or appear to give no colour at all, clarins radiance plus is the best where these are concerned as long as again its applied again, correctly, and you dont need much. The price from Boots was £21.50, the last time...

Clarins gelée auto-bronzante-disppointment
Advantages: Moisturzing and glides on easily
Disadvantages: not instant tan, no colour guide, colour is not v.good
...colourguide, which is less hassle than fake bake. The colour is quite 'golden', and i notice i have streaks probably due to my application guessing. I have marks where i have not applied the tan and it looks stupid. The colour in the end is average. I naturally have olive skin so i would have been better off with a bronzer tan than golden. 'Golden' tans can tend to look more yellow or orange based, whereas bronzer self tans such as fake bake and dark sunsation are more red coloured based which i prefer. The red undertones in fake bake and dark sunsation prevent the skin from going orange/yellow.
I can still smell the fake tan smell from the clarins gel. Its not very pleasent and am quite paranoid about my friends smelling it. I g out with my friend and she comments how tanned my legs looked, but this was indoors. As i stepped outside the bright...

Best self tanner
Advantages: Instant drying, nice smell, 100% natural looking tan
Disadvantages: None..
...Clarins Selt Tanning Instant Gel - note the new packaging is bronze not yellow as the image shows above.
This is the BEST self tanner I've ever used. The gel drys almost instantly and is completely absorbed with no stickiness. The gel smells pleasant and doesnt have a strong after smell like lots of tanners - it doesn't stain sheets - i like to put it on before bed. It gave the most natural looking tan I have ever achieved from a self tan product and it looks like I've been sun bathing rather than "tango'd" - no orange here just a lovely tan. It is not incredibly dark (so might not be dark enough for those who like St Tropez) but it does give you a lovely colour that looks completely natural which to me is paramount. It was very easy to apply with no streaking. I am thoroughly impressed and delighted. Highly recommended.
I much...

Clarins - Achieve The Perfect Tan!
Advantages: Non-Streaky, Easily Applied, Long Lasting, Natural Colour
Disadvantages: A Bit Expensive
...I have tried and tested almost every self-tanning lotion/spray/gel on the market and therefore I reckon that I'm qualified to give an experienced review of Clarins fake tan.
I am now a big fan of airbrushing, but I previously rated Clarins self-tanning gel as the best around for a flawless, golden tan.
The first thing I should say is that I never have streaks when I apply fake tan. I also do not strictly follow the instructions. For a start, I never exfoliate and moisturise before I apply it - not because I'm against it, but because I'm too lazy. I therefore do not believe that it is entirely necessary - unless of course you have recently used a self-tanning lotion and are required to get rid of your old tan before applying the new one. The next step is to buy yourself a pair of latex gloves. These can be bought from the first...

Tan-Fastic
Advantages: Works well, Smells ok
Disadvantages: Packaging looks cheap, takes a while to dry
...well knows sun care companies and cosmetics giants.
Creating a nation of bronzed gods and godesses is big business it seems.
One product that caught my eye was a self-tan in gel form. This looked like it might be easier to apply than traditional lotions and it had a third off the price so I was convinced!
The product in question was L'oreal Plenitude Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gel. This is a new addition to the L'oreal tanning range and claims to have the added benefit of smoothing the skin leaving it 'velvety soft' (which would be very weird when you consider the feel of velvet - if you skin suddenly starts feeling like that, I suggest you consult a doctor!)
Normally this product retails at £9.99 for 150ml, which may seem quite steep, but you only use a really small amount for each application so it does last. At the moment...

Shimmerific tan
Advantages: Nice shimmer, easy to apply, no nasty smell
Disadvantages: Tricky over heels and feet, bottle doesn't seem to last very long
...'t, however, really give you an indication of what the final colour will be. I especially liked the shimmer to the gel, I was complimented on how healthy I looked for the rest of the day!
The product is definitely suitable for first time self tanners, even I didn't manage to mess it up and I'm rather lacking in the skills department for this one! The problems I encoutered were when it came to the back of my leg/heel area and my feet. I didn't apply far enough down my heel and the sides of my feet. Its probably best to cover your whole foot and then wipe the soles. I ended up with huge variations between brown tops and white sides of feet. I also managed to turn the palms of my hands rather orange-y, I probably should have washed them a couple of times whilst I was applying to prevent colour build up. I didn't notice any typical self tan aroma...

St Tropez Self Tan
Advantages: Great colour and very even colour
Disadvantages: Takes time and alot of effort
...St Tropez is a great range that contains all the products needed for a fantastic natural looking all year round tan.
It claims to work instantly for a streak less application that will last for days.
It comes in an 8oz bottle with a handy pump action, which makes it a lot easier to use.
I paid £26.50 for this, which I know does seem like a lot.
I initially brought the St Tropez mousse however this brought me out in a rash so I had to discontinue using it. My friend used this lotion so I borrowed a little bit and I didn?t have the same reaction so decided to give it ago. I did love this at first because it brought me out in such a dark tan and I even had one done professionally, which cost £25, I thought after it was a waste of money because it really is easy enough to do it at home and get the same results.
This is in my...

Fake Bake Xtreme: One of the worst fake tans I have ever used!
Advantages: None I can think of.
Disadvantages: Too many.
...Being very fair skinned I have learnt to deal with this through extensive fake tanning and staying clear of sunbeds. I have tried many tans and although I am fair skinned I do tend to go for fake tans which are for darker skins as I am not a fan of the 'sunkissed' look.. I want full blown BRONZE!
Obviously what attracted me to this product was that it states it is 'xtreme' tanning gel. This made me think that one application would be enough to turn me to the shade of bronze I usually only get from two applications of your average tanning gel.
The process:
Can be summed up in one word... messy. Using rubber gloves I found made it even more difficult to rub the gel in as it made it dry even quicker. The gel dried so quick that it was impossible to get an even coverage on the skin as you just ended up rubbing it off. After leaving it...

L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Gel: very even tan!
Advantages: Very very even, gives a lovely colour and easy application!
Disadvantages: Takes some time for it to be absorbed.
...I have been using this tan for several years now and I recommend it to anyone!
Application:
Firstly I start by putting body butter on my feet and ankles, knees and elbows so they don't go bright orange.
I don't like using rubber gloves with this tanning gel as I find it makes it more difficult for it to be thoroughly absorbed into the skin. What I do is I start at the bottom and work my way up, regularly washing my hands. I do one leg, wash my hands. Do the other leg, wash my hands. Then the body, and then the arms. After washing the hands at the end so I don't look like I have white gloves on I put a little of the product on some tissue and smooth it over the tops of my hands.
Results:
A natural even colour which is easy to intensify with just one more application. It does have the fake tan smell afterwards but its not as strong as...

Ive just been tango'd
Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Make sure you exfoliate and wash your hands
...Sunday! (Hence the title - Tango hands!!)
The product did not come up in 1 hour try about 5 or so!! Really and truely for such a product you need to leave it overnight. I didnt exfoliate enough and so my elbows look badly bruised (my fault not the products), my hands are currently still orange (my fault not the products) but my face is nicely tanned and so too are my arms and legs. Little or no streakage.
SO - the self tanning gel by Clarins - quite a good product, value for money and smells quite nice too! Two words of warning - make sure you really exfoliate or miss out your elbows and always always wash your hands or you too like me shall be Tango'd.
The product is available in all Clairns Beauty Salons and branches of Boots or Debhenams with Clairns counters. Widely available....
