...In Flames - Come Clarity Yet another of my 14 year old (next months) son's offerings which he insists 'You must listen to this dad'. This is by no means my longest review as I am not going to 'fill' when I have not much to say. Wikipedia tell me that these are a Swedish melodic death metal band.....not a good start, however, being am open minded dad I thought I should give them a a go. 40 Channels for a one off payment

Advantages: More channels and a better picture

...I decided to invest in a freeview box for my bedroom as I was sick and tired of having a fuzzy picture all the time, that and the fact that I was bored of the usual five channels. I was`nt after anything to expensive as it was just for upstairs, so I went to Argos and choose the Clarity CDVB1 which was £29.99 and had been reduced to £14.99. (an added bonus) However the product does not come with a scart lead, but you can buy these in Argos for a few pound extra. What's in the box? In the box you can expect to find The CDVB1 set top box, which is black in colour, a remote control, a user guide, a quick start guide and two AAA batteries, as I mentioned earlier the scart lead is not provided with this item. Astonishing effort from Emo Kings

Advantages: Perfect songcraft, accessibly yet complex
Disadvantages: The middle 10 minutes of 'Sky Harbour'

...It all starts at a whisper. Coy, blushing vocal melodies weaving themselves around the brittle, chiming guitar lines. And by the time the first song has reached it's end, you're hooked. This is the second album from Arizona's Jimmy Eat World, and marks quite a departure from their debut 'Static Prevails'. Whereas that album concentrated on short, straightforward pop/rock blasts, 'Clarity' is a fine example of a band broadening it's horizons, allowing new sounds and new influences into their already distinctive tones. The opener 'Table for Glasses' acts as the calm before the storm, creeping up on you and sneaking into your brain rather than simply smashing you in the face, as many album openers do. ...In Flames are the only band as of yet, who have perfectly managed to combine melodic death metal, with brilliant lyrics and a great voice, with insane technical abilty, whilst still writing beautiful, well written masterpieces! Come Clarity, is a perfect example of what this band is capaple of producing. From the title track's peaceful introduction, to the speed and emotion of "Take This Life", this album delivers quality in every aspect, from start to finish. A Modern Metal Masterpiece

Advantages: Exceptional song writing, very good lyrics
Disadvantages: Not THAT many amazing riffs, but apart from that perfect

...In Flames songwriting capacity comes across as flawless in this album. Structurally the tracks are interesting, musically they are phenomenal, lyric wise they are certainly a cut above other competition, and the skill with which each band member uses his instrument his mind blowing. Screaming guitar solos aside, each track is entirely individual. Contrary to many other albums, similarity of tracks does not exist on this record. Come Clarity opens with the blaze of 'Take This Life' and as soon as the off-beat drumming subsides into the deep, battering rumble of the opening riff, you know that In Flames have hit the nail on the head. The album proceeds through 'Leeches' and 'Reflect the Storm' (both phenomenal tracks) before coming to my personal highlight of the album 'Dead End'. ...Well.... In Flames. Possibly the greatest band of all time, and now with a new album which is even better than the rest of their stuff! All of the songs in the album are written with great meaning, but also manages to sound amazing! An awesome feat, especially considering the English lyrics were written by someone whose first language is Swedish. It starts loudly with Take This Life, a complete emotion-filled masterpiece, followed by Leeches and Reflect The Storm, filled with powerful guitaring. Then you have Dead End, featuring some different vocals - adding variety to the piece. Scream combines some visceral drumming with skillful guitaring for a great sound. The title track (Come Clarity) of the album is strangely quite different from the rest of the album, and sounds like In Flames were trying to appeal to another musical...
