Cleaning House

...off I trotted to Sainsburys (well, limped actually) and into my trolley went the Pledge Dust and Go wet and dry cleaning system. That’s a rather posh name for one of those newfangled mop-type things. In the little box you get a flat head piece and a handle which comes in several pieces and you have to screw them all together. You then buy boxes of specially impregnated disposable cloths, which are wrapped around the head. There are a lot of these cleaning systems on the market now, the first and most well known of them being the Swiffer. But I plumped for the Pledge one because it came with some wet cloths for washing the floor and some dry polishing cloths too. When I'm Cleaning Windows

Advantages: Lovely shiny, sparkly, clean windows, that everyone will admire and envy.

...Free? it can't be can it? Well yes it can, just about. When I was 8 or 9 years old, I remember asking my mother if I could wash the windows outside on one summer's day. I'll never forget what taught me on that day, for some reason it has always stuck. Forget all those expensive, fancy cleaning products and try this out: Take a bucket and half fill with warm water. Add a little vinegar (any type) and stir. I would add about one tablespoon to one litre of water (2 pints). Then, instead of using a fancy cloth, use newspaper to wipe the windows. You needn't soak the newspaper, just dip the newspaper in slightly. It may sound a little 'old fashioned' or like an 'old wive's tale' but it really works. ELC Cleaning set

...My little boy was always trying to "help" do the cleaning with the the sweeping brush and mop but seeing as they were twice the size of him it became dangerous. So during a trip to the ELC one day my partner spotted the named cleaning set which was priced at 38 which we both thought was a bargin and as we also had a 20% off voucher we had it discounted further. I think there was some assenbly just screwing the handles onto the mop and sweping brush. The product itself is actually really sweet there is a mob, sweeping brush, dustpan and brush which i think is good value for what u get. All of the tools are brightly coloured and are very sturd. Cleaning Brush Set

Advantages: Makes cleaning pump an easy task.
Disadvantages: Wear out quickly, sometimes rust can form.

There are two different sizes of brush in the packet, the smaller of which I find vital for the cleaning of the impeller in my filters, and they are also useful as a miniture bottle brushes. However, the brushs do wear out quickly, and I have to say that they are a bit on the pricey side when you consider what they actually are. I find that the bristles on the small brush fall off quickly, and so you end up with lots of big brushes, and no small brushes. Although the use of these are important, it may be better if you try and find something more economical. The cleaning of your filters are IMPORTANT, so make sure you clean regularly to avoid problems....
