A raw deal in Paris

...On Bastile Day night (14 July 2008) we dined at the Champs Elysees branch of the Chez Clement chain. it is a good location but seems to just be a tourist trap. Our French friends had booked a table for 5 but they still put us on a table more suitable for 2. I had to ask a waiter to take our order, we were being ignored.My Duck Delight was raw, uncooked, inedible. To avoid embassing our friends I did not make a fuss, but this was the worst meal I have had anywhere in the world. Avoid this branch at all costs. I do not think the kitchen staff, surely not chefs, are trained, neither did the serving staff seem to be trained. If you look on other websites the reviews are inconsistant, it suggests this chain just do not care....

Disadvantages: He stops in 1973 (presumably his experiences as an MP are being held back for volume two).

...LOCATION The hotel is based in St Clement, which is the next port of call after the bustling St Helier. You will find the hotel located directly on the coast road, so it is quite easy to find.. If you have a room looking over the bay it is lovely, especially listening to the sea and the waves crashing on the shore The Room Kingsize bed, so that is great, i love staying in rooms like this purely for more room in bed. If taking children like we did there was 2 seperate single beds in the room (excellent for them to have proper beds, rather than pull out things. Bathroom , bath and overhead shower, everything was very clean Home Comforts Small kettle with complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk (but only 2 cups!!!) 4 glasses in the bathroom. ...Chez Clement is a chain of about twelve restaurants around Paris; the one we visted is about a quarter mile from the Arc de Triomphe on Ave MacMahon. We spotted this place on our first night, with huge trays of fresh oysters being shucked in view of the street. We arrived for dinner on our second night and, while we hadn't made a reservation, they found space for us (at 9pm on a warm Saturday evening). The decor is homely, if bizarre, with picture frames lines with spoons and copper saucepans as lampshades. My wife had a wonderful dish of scallops with Chorizo sausage on a bed of saffron rice, while I went for one of the 'assiettes' - a mixed platter of seafood. I ordered the 2nd size, 'the explorer' and was stunned when it arrived: 6 medium oysters, 6 large oysters, 6 mussels and 6 medium sized scallops - all served raw...

The Root Of All Evil

...Glitz is the eleventh novel from author Louise Bagshawe. The version I read was the hardback which I managed to mooch from Bookmooch. Im not going to go into the authors background, but if you are interested then check out my review on her previous book Glamour. Glitz is the story of reclusive millionaire Clement Chambers who lives on a large estate in the Seychelles. He has four nieces, who are two sets of sisters - Diana and Venus, Juno and Athena. They are all very different and not particularly close. As things stand the Chambers girls recieve a £500,000 a year trust fund from their Uncle Clement and are set to inherit his mass fortune. Each Christmas they all get together in the Seychelles and endure their uncle and each other to keep him sweet. This particular Christmas he introduces his bride to be Bai-Ling and everything...

Review of Glitz - Louise Bagshawe

The best movie I ever bought out of a bargin bin.

Advantages: Hilarious (for nerds), great considering the budget, acting is good for movie's sake.
Disadvantages: Humor isn't for all, under 90 minutes.

...This is awesome. Really it is. Starring Jemaine Clement of Flight of the Conchords, this is somehow funnier than the show itself. Being a parody of ninja/kung fu exploitation movies this movie takes all of the painfully bad qualities of these and makes fun of them. The bad dubbing, terrible plots, henchmen and other things are picked fun of. It is absolutely full of good one liners and the dialogue from Jemaine himself, as Action Fighter is great. Check youtube for it and if you like that, you will love this movie. I bought this for £1 and I do not regret it. Unlike most movies that I get for that amount this is actually a very good movie, and not in a "it's so bad it's awesome" sort of ways. Tongan Ninja is AWESOME!...

...". The script is written by Dick Clement, Ian La Frenais and Roddy Doyle, who deliver a excellent script, based on a novel by Roddy Doyle. The additional cast includes Colm Meaney, who appears in many of Roddy Doyle?s films and also the Corr?s singer, Andrea Corr. This is a fine example of how musical films should be made. Alan Parker has directed an outstanding film with some superb songs that everyone will enjoy. If you haven?t seen this film, then you are missing a great treat....
