...Having tried a few Clinique products and being left disappointed that they didn?t work as well as I?d expected, I?ve always avoided, despite many attempts by several friends to ?convert? me, trying the Clinique 3 Step System. I finally gave in however, when one of said friends bought me a 3 Step Gift Set for Christmas. She knows I have oily/spot prone skin, and so she got me the set for skin types 3 and 4, which is for normal to oily/oily skin. The 3 Step System, for anyone who doesn?t know consists of, you guessed it, 3 steps, as follows: Step 1: Cleanse (Facial Soap or Liquid Facial Soap), Step 2 : Tone (Clarifying Lotion), Step 3 : Moisturise (Moisturising Lotion or Gel). ...Well clinique describe this product as having all the benefits of Clinique's facial soap in a liquid formula. It is supposed to prep skin for exfoliating without drying the skin and it comes in 3 different strenghts, these are - extra mild, mild and oily and you choose the one which is best suited to your skin type which can either be dry, a combination of oily and dry or very oily, the bottle has a convenient pump that dispenses just the right amount each time you use it . I have found all this information to be completely true unlike some products that i have tried in the past which tend to bend the truth a bit to sell there products for eg. clearasil who say that your spots will start to go in just 3 days of using there products is a complete lie anyway back to clinique, the product is fragrance free which is good as you can...

Soap IS good for your face!

Advantages: Dermatologically recommended

.... How to use Using warm water, lather a small amount of the liquid soap between palms. Massage lather over face and throat before rinsing it off and patting the skin dry with a clean towel. Packaging I would be suprised to hear someone wouldn't recognise Clinique if they saw it, but for those of you who wouldn't Clinique products come in elegant silver and green packaging. The Liquid soap comes in either 100ml or 200ml pump action light green bottles with silver lettering and of course the Clinique logo. The pump action is really handy and ensures you use the right amount every time. One pump should do most people. Scent Clinique products are fragerance free. Do you wanna get fresh?... and clean!

...and Moisturises. Liquid facial soap is part one the cleanser, Part two is the toner and part three the moisturiser. I'm not the most disciplined of people so tend to just stick to the Cleanse and Moisturise steps. There are three different types of Clinique facial soap, extra mild, mild and Oily. Extra mild should be used on very dry skin. Mild or normal to dry skin and Oily, for of course oily skin. The product I am reviewing is the mild liquid soap. The soap comes in a 200ml sturdy plastic bottle which is a perspex green colour with the clinique logo across the front. It has a pump dispenser which dispenses a 2 pence sized amount with each Pump. The soap is completely fragrance free and colour free and looks like clear gel. It is also allergy tested. The instructions state to use twice daily with tepid water, lather soap between palms...

Clean Skin!

Advantages: Doesn't dry out skin

...I bought this Clinique liquid facial soap after I was given some Boots vouchers for Christmas. I decided to go for the 'mild' version of the soap since it was suitable for dry combination skin. This was really good for me, since I sometimes find that when I use soaps or face washes that my skin feels quite dry and flaky afterwards, as my skin can dry out quite easily. I didn't find that after using this face wash so I was really pleased. The soap is available to buy in sets of 3 x 50ml sizes, so they are easy to carry around and good if you wanted to take them on holidays. The set of 3 x 50ml tubes costs £15 (these do work out more expensive but I guess they could be quite handy!) It also comes in a 200ml size for £13 and a 'jumbo' size for £20, which is a 400ml bottle. The Clinique liquid facial soap is widely available online but...

My 'Magic Moisturising' Shea Butter Liquid Soap.

It comes in a handy 500ml sized plastic bottle that is quite slim, but solid and fits well at the side of my small wash basin in my bathroom. It is a handy, see through bottle which is great I find as you can keep an eye on how much soap there actually is left in it. It has a wax plastic round label right in the centre of the bottle which is a lavender colour and edged in yellow. The first I've heard of face soap!

Advantages: Actually work to reduce oil, compact
Disadvantages: Not good on all skins, part of a routine (althoough you do get used to it)

When you first think of cleaning your face with soap, (well myself at least) I was actually quite negative as normal soaps can dry your skin and alter the natural production of oils within the face, therefore not seeming te best option. However the lady at the Clinque counter was quick to intervene. Who is it recommended for? ******************************* The Facial Soap is recommended for those with oily skin, whether this is combination (the forehead, nose and chin areas) or the whole face. The aim as with most other products for this skin type is to regulate the production of oils, not to dry the skin!
