Clinique clarifying lotion helps with milia
Advantages: Clears up my cheek milia, exfoliates really well, diminishes wrinkles
Disadvantages: Stings a bit when applied, fairly expensive for most
...For years I've had milia on my cheeks, but I didn't know what they were. Since I read that milia only appears around the eye area, I always presumed that I'm just prone to whiteheads. Although they're not really whiteheads since they look like bumps under the skin. They are trapped skin cells. If I tried to squeeze them, I'd make an absolute mess of my skin and they'd then turn into inflamed spots that can be popped. However for the first few days, there would be nothing but clear liquid in them. I was always puzzled by this.
And then I came across a forum where someone was talking about their cheek milia and I recognized my problem. Funny enough, the advice to try Clinique Clarifying Lotion came from my boyfriend. He uses it all the time and claims that's why his skin looks amazing, despite having oily skin. Don't you just love...

Clinique M Lotion (Moisturiser for Men)
Advantages: It Works!
Disadvantages: It Costs!
...feeling so wet that my natural inclination was to wipe it dry, no doubt removing the product in the process. Others left my face feeling sticky or lent it an appearance so shiny that passers-by stared at me to check their reflections. All of them, without exception, triggered those red boil-type, under-the-skin blemishes, which can render the handsomest mug clown-like.
For me, Clinique M Lotion was a revelation. The smallest amount rubbed gently into the skin goes a long way. It is absorbed quickly, but leaves the skin feeling smooth and natural. It has no scent and apart from the skin's improved, healthy appearance, it is undetectable. It is the only moisturiser I have been able to use, which doesn't trigger the "two days later blemishes".
The packaging is unassuming, being a conservative grey as opposed to neon-pink, and if spied in...

exfoliating lotion
Advantages: tightens pores, reduces pimples and blackheads..exfoliates!
Disadvantages: can smell like pure alcohol..can dry the skin out if not using the right lotion for your skin
...a little bit about the brand and product:
Clinique is actually an american not french brand now owned by Este Lauder who also own brands like clarins, mac, bobby brown, aveda, skii and several more high end products as well as their own este lauder range of products. Clinique was founded in 1968 and was the first company to introduce their famous 3 step system still followed by almost every brand now that is cleanse-tone and moisturise.
The clarifying lotion is the "toner" part although I was told it actually works more like an exfoliator and gets rid of dead skin cells as u sweep it across your face. The packing is an opaque cylinder bottle of either 200ml's or 500 ml's with a green screw top lid. It comes in 5 formulations: mild, 1,2,3,4.
hokaii.......... now onto my experience with the clarifying lotion:
I remember going to...

Clinique Unhappy
Advantages: Allergy tested, Fragrance free, Some improvements to my skin
Disadvantages: Very expensive, Smells like TCP
...to use them in combination (forsaking all other brands) twice a day, every day, ad infinitum.
This is great of you wish to entirely overhaul your skincare regime and have a lot of money to spend doing it, but at this point all I wanted was something to fit between washing and moisturising to exfoliate and improve the texture of my skin. I have long since found great products to cleanse and moisturise with, but the only good exfoliator/cleansing lotion I have come across was a Boots own-brand product that has long since been discontinued (don't you just hate it when they do that?). In the Clinique System, the product that fitted my needs was therefore a Step 2 product, technically called a "Clarifying Lotion". There are five different types of clarifying lotion offered by Clinique depending on skin type; a quick consultation...

clinique clarifying lotion does actually work!
Advantages: it works and is easy to use
Disadvantages: can dry your skin out slightly
...much as it would dry a person with dry skins skin.
the 3 step routine
the clarifying lotion is part of a group of three products that work together to help you skin look and feel as good as possible. the first product to use is the soap, which also comes in different levels, this is fairly obvious as you just wash your face with this. then the clarifying lotion, and then moistureiser, the moistureiser is a good product to use as the clarifying lotion can dry your skin out. the moistureiser is available for both dry and oily skin
use
overall using the product is extreamly easy, and even when pressed for time it only takes about two minutes at do all three steps - if even that long
confused about which level is right for you?
dont be. i was when i first wanted to start using it, but i went to a clinique counter and asked one...

Clinique -Dramatically Different Moisturizer
Advantages: Effective moisturizer
Disadvantages: Packaging
...I enjoy the product; Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. I have been using this product consistently for the past year. I feel that it is a great moisturizer and works particularly well in collaboration with with other Clinique daily products. It smoothes my skin and prevents dry skin, I particularly use it on my face. The smell is average, it does not particularly smell perfumed but for a face lotion it is a desired smell. It is quickly absorbed by the skin and does not make skin too oily or greasy. It is a well known and trusted brand and I would suggest it as a worthwhile product to invest in. One concern I have about it is it's spout and packaging - I find that it does not affectively pump as well as other lotion bottles do. Also the square bottle does not pack easily into a makeup bag or when traveling. These are...

The splendid Step-2
Advantages: Unlike any other 'toner' you've tried before
Disadvantages: Expensive for a 'toner', but still worth it
...How come I'm the first person to review this? I'm really surprised I must admit, considering the cult status of Clinique's glorious 'Clarifying Lotion'. Everyone's skin is different obviously and what works for one person might not work for another, but I consider myself to have reasonably average skin; not the clearest, with the odd spot when I don't take off my makeup properly, more a case of 'could do better'. This product has honestly made my skin look better than it has in ages!
Don't be fooled by those who describe it as a toner; true enough, the application and sensation of the lotion is quite similar; its placing in the 3-step system is right there inbetween the cleanser and moisturiser just like a toner normally is; heck, even the bottle looks toner-esque. However, it is actually classed as an exfoliating liquid, and when you...

Have your nose-peg ready for this lotion
Advantages: Tingling fresh feeling
Disadvantages: An awful smell
...excess oils on greasy skin, perhaps a reason why I was never a dedicated user of it. However, in the last 3 to 4 years I have seen more and more toners specifically for dry or normal skins. These claim to make the skin smoother and brighter as they remove dead surface skin cells. Humph...personally I think using a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week would be the more effective way to achieve that.
How did you come to be in possession of this toner when you're obviously not a dedicated user?
------------------------------------------------
Oh, you know, the usual stars-in-my-eyes-at-a-giveaway thing. Buy 2 Clinique products and get a free goodie bag with tester size Clinique products. I am always a sucker for these offers. So in my latest goodie bag I got a quite generous 60ml size bottle of the Clarifying Lotion 2 (for normal skin...

Clinique- good for sensitive skin
Advantages: Only cleaning routine that works for me
Disadvantages: Very expensive to buy all 3 products at once
...This is step 2 of the 3 step clinique system. As I have really sensitive skin I have to use the mild clarifying lotion instead of the normal lotions which are numbered 1, 2 and 3.
I have tried many different clensing products over the last 5 years and this one is the best for my skin. The other products I have tried have given me an allergic reaction, such as itchiness and my face swelling up so I was worried about trying this due to the inital expense, but it has never caused me a problem. A friend recommended I try it as she had similar problems.
Clinique do claim that no one can be allergic to their products because of their strict testing, but I do know some people who have found the products to dry out their skin. I do ocassionally get dry skin, but I only cleanse once a day instead of the recommended twice and use a free...

Clinique skin stripper
Advantages: Does make skin feel clean
Disadvantages: can cause reactions
...I recently used the Clinique clarifying lotion after having a consultation at my local Army and Navy store. I came away with the soap, clarifying lotion and moisturiser in sample size and started to use them straight away as directed.
By the end of the second day the skin on my nose was flaking off. I have followed the instructions I was given implicitly, remove make-up before using the soap , then wipe once only with the lotion ,then use the moisturiser but my skin continued to flake. I can't remember ever being allergic to anything else in my life and have certainly never experienced a reaction like this.
By process of elimination i have discovered that it must be the clarifying lotion that caused the reaction as I have tried the moisturiser and the soap since with no ill effects.
My advice to anyone conteplating using these...
