Excellent make up remover

Advantages: Quick and thorough clean
Disadvantages: little bit greasly perhaps

...I got this make up remover recently as a smaller sized sample with some Clinique purchases I made in the States recently. Not one to generally use make up removers I tried this particular product out seeing as I had it for free. I am now a huge fan of this make up remover - you only need to apply a few drops to cotton wool and all of my eyeliner/mascara comes straight off the eye. The great thing is that you do not need to use a lot of the product, and it doesn't smear the product you're removing all over your face. It is slightly oily so you would probably want to wash your skin after using this product. After using this product I decided to purchase an eye make up remover from Crabtree and Evelyn as it was on offer, but I can honestly say that it is not even a patch on the Clinique one. I will definately be purchasing this again...

Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up Remover

Advantages: No oiliness, kind on eyes, attractive packaging
Disadvantages: A little too mild, didn't remove all my eye make up

...I bought this product a little while ago. I wanted something quick and easy that would effectively remove my eye make up but that was also quite gentle, since some eye make removers make your eyes sting! I have used Clarins products in the past and have found them to be effective, so I thought that I would give this 'Instant Eye Make-Up Remover' a try. The bottle is a simple and attractive design. It is an oval shaped, plastic bottle with a screw top lid. The lid is white with a silver coloured rim, which adds a nice bit of bling! The plastic is a frosted colour, and you can easily see though to the liquid inside. The make up remover has two layers in it, it looks really cool in the bottle! There is a blue layer on the bottom and a clear layer on top, and you have to shake the bottle before you use it so that these two layers mix...

...since the early days when it was just a pink liquid in a jar. It now has expanded into a wide range of other products and I use quite a few of them. The one I am reviewing here is the Olay Eye Make Up remover. I am one who always has to remove her make up at the end of the day as I hate to sleep in it and think my face does a lot better without it on and so I was very excited when I found this product a few years ago. I love Olay so to have a make up remover that uses Olay lotion as well is an absolute benefit. The Olay eye make up remover comes in a tube with a flip top cap. The tube is white with blue writing on it and the cap is blue. The lotion inside is quite thick. It is fragrance free and colour free to care for the delicate eye area. These ladies have come across as being very helpful & they do try their best but they have always tried colours on my skin that were a few shades too dark unfortunately. I wear soft contact lenses everyday and after using a few make up removers that left my eyes feeling irradiated and sore I decided on buying an extra gentle make-up remover and perusing the shelves in Boots I came across this one made by Nivea Visage. It was a reasonable price at £3.39 pence for a good 125ml sized bottle. The design of the bottle is fairly average and just buy looking you can tell it is not an expensive product. It is quite a chunky design which means it stands up well on my dressing table and the lid which is a flip top pops open easily and clicks to seal very well. ...In regards to eye make up removal, I often find that facewipes can be really harsh on the eye area and so have been using some different eye make up removers which i can use with a cotton ball. I tried this Garnier one recently and have to say I really enjoyed using it. Firstly, I didn't find it at all oily or greasy on the eye, it has the consistency of water and was great at removing stubborn mascara and eyeliner. I simply applied a generous amount to the cotton wool ball and gently removed all makeup. The product was also quite refreshing for the eyes and felt really nice and cooling. The container states that the product contains flower extracts which is possible the reason the product was so refeshing; it is also stated that the product is suitable for sensitive eyes which I would definately agree with. Almost Foundation ... Certainly Make Up

Advantages: Blends well, isn't heavy, protects against sun related skin damage
Disadvantages: Can get water-y (separates), expensive, middling coverage

It would be fair to say that this stuff falls somewhat between a tinted moisturiser and a full blown foundation. It comes in a green tube (thus resembling a moisturiser), but it has a full range of colours and shades (Although I'm pretty fair, I'm using 03 - Medium, as I bought it when I had a bit of a tan). The consistency is thinner than a foundation (in fact, it sometimes comes out quite watery - I have to remind myself to shake the tube well). The tube tells me it's fragrance free and allergy tested. I've never experienced any irritation when using this, but my skin isn't especially prone to it (though when I used Mac foundation, I did notice a slight burning sensation). ...This is my second Clinique foundation, and I think a symptom of my getting older. I used to use their Almost makeup, which is extremely light, but has the advantage of being SPF15. However, as I am getting older and more tired, it is making less and less difference. So I decided to upgrade. I decided to put my faith in the Clinique counter lady and went into boots. I told her what I had previously used and that it wasn't quite doing enough anymore. The woman said that this one was next up on the coverage list, so she tried out some colours and gave me a little bottle. As usual with Clinique products, it was a costly little bottle at £18.50 for 45ml; but I've used enough of them over the years to know that they're good quality, last for a long time and suit my skin.
