Selleck is the new Clint Eastwood

Advantages: Everything you would expect from a good western
Disadvantages: Not an epic film but doesn't matter

To make matters worse there is a confederate sympathiser in town who is secretly stocking a cache of firearms with the intentions of re-building the confederate war effort. Naturally Cable is misjudged and is offered to get involved in this to which he refuses making himself more enemies and less allies. This film is a mature western with fantastic acting. It is nice to see the effects of war on a family, and the way that Selleck has to overcome his wifes resentment, and get to know her and their child. Additionally Selleck has been altered by war, and is a slightly different person. After going through so much all he wants is his life and family back home but has to deal with new adversity. Who you think you are gringo? Clint Eastwood!

Advantages: Honest film on race

...Duke: What you lookin' at old man? Walt Kowalski: Ever notice how you come across somebody once in a while you shouldn't have f**ked with? That's me. There is no doubt in my mind that Gran Torino is the first real film where Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood contemplates his own death through his work on screen, one of modern cinemas greatest icons getting very old now. In the extras here he says this will be his last lead acting role and the rather symbolic (and somewhat silly ending) to the film may suggest his own mortality is on his mind. Just as the films narrative is about a grumpy old man putting to bed his demons in front of a God he's never really needed until now there's a real feel to this that Eastwood is winding down to call it a day as he, behind the camera too here, directs himself into retirement. Review of Gran Torino

It's all in your head

Advantages: It's being overplayed on radio somewhat.
Disadvantages: You won't stop singing it. No, really.

...Ah yes, the side project. Beginning of the end for Blur, or Dermot Oblong's exorcising of his pop demons? Let's hope it's the latter - this track is fantastic. Cartoon band 'Gorillaz' are made up of 2-D (Lead singer, sultry, boyish, reminds me of someone...) Murdoc (Bassist, Devil worship, attitude, punched in the balls in the video) Russel (Drummer, no eyes, hat, enormous) & Noodle (Guitarist, Sandals, Oriental). The band play a trip hop punk rock pop rap ska mix, and after their low key release 'Tomorrow Comes Too Soon' comes 'Clint Eastwood', perhaps the first truly great pop single for 7 years. Since Parklife, ironically enough. Well, actually, there have been hundreds of great pop singles better than this. But it gives the review a nice bit of closure :) I guarantee you know the chorus, or at least what you THINK the chorus is...

Review of Clint Eastwood - Gorillaz

Mystic Masterpiece from Clint Eastwood?

Advantages: Moody, mysterious and marvellous
Disadvantages: None

...I wanted to hate this film. Why? Because: (a) It's got Sean Penn in and; (b) Clint Eastwood directed it. Firstly I haven't got an overt dislike for Sean Penn but I have always found his performances lacking something, he seemed to be more well known for being a wild man rather than a fine actor. I also didn't particularly like him in Dead Man Walking, I thought that his performance was painful to watch, he was acting his heart out and you could see he was just acting so... and then he gets an Academy Award for his performance in Mystic River and I think, well, maybe...maybe in this performance he does deliver so... Secondly, and I know this is going to vex many of you out there, I have never, and I repeat never liked Clint Eastwood. Don't start pelting me with tomatoes just yet!! I have watched a good number of his movies...

...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them. ∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊ Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Ride in Clint Eastwoods hoofprints!

Advantages: Stunning views, well trained horses, friendly hosts, amazing value for money!

...of absolutely nowhere, and that you've stepped back in time, and when you're riding thru the desert you really feel like you could be in one of those scenes on the Clint Eastwood films....in fact i rode thru the exact same valleys which he rode thru in the good the bad n the ugly!!!! It was fantastic, i even recognised it off the film....it put hairs up on my arms!! They film loads of stuff round there and you cant blame them really. The landscape is really diverse. You can be riding thru cactus fields one minute, then up a rocky mountain path, then galloping across a vast flat mountain plateau, then going thru salt flats surrounded by these big imposing mountain ranges..then plodding thru little winding paths in between the fields past tumbledown old fincas and the old abandoned emerald mines, then you can be riding thru the big canyons they have...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging.
