A day at Dunn's
Advantages: Fun and relaxing
Disadvantages: Small children are not able to climb the falls
...Dunn's river falls is one of my most favourite hot spot in Jamaica if I want a combination of fun and relaxation I can count on this location any time.
THE LOCATION
Dunns River falls is situated in one of Jamaica well know tourist area called OCHO RIOS, or just plain "OCHI" and "The North Coast" as we Jamaicans would referred to it, Ocho Rios is a nice place with a mixture of Tourism and Local life. The name Ocho Rios is Spanish meaning "eight rivers". It is known for its Beautiful tropical clustered trees that forms a foliage, shopping - where you can get all sort souvenirs to remind you of your trip, dining - there are numerous amount of restaurants in that area, along with the beautiful golden sandy beaches and an array of other activities. But the best known and most popular tourist attraction in Ocho Rios and all of Jamaica...

First book in NUMA series, Serpent by Clive Cussler
Advantages: Fast action, lots of history
Disadvantages: Maybe weaker character development and writing than previous Cussler books
...Serpent is a novel by thriller writer Clive Cussler. For those familiar with the works of Cussler, they normally involve a character called Dirk Pitt, but this book marks the arrival of a new character, Kurt Austin. The book is the first in the NUMA series of books, of which more have since been released since this title was published.
The basic plot is that a group called "The Brotherhood" try to wipe from
the record the evidence that they had been contact in the past between the New and Old Worlds. Kurt Austin, Cussler's new character, is the boss of the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA).
The book begins with the destruction of the SS Andrea Doria and MS Stockholm, before jumping forward in time to new conflicts around the world. Austin saves the life of the archaeologist, Nina Kirov, who then helps in his tasks...

Dunnes Stores Clothes, really?
Advantages: Nice clothes relatively cheap
Disadvantages: Fashion mood swings
..." You buy your best clothes in Dunnes Stores up yours. "
Well, thats no longer my opinion.
Dunnes Stores is one of those traditional, cheap department stores. I remember it when it was a bog standard supermarket, however in my town they now specialise in clothes and other household utilities.
It is December, and feeling a little cold and unenthusiastic about Christmas, I popped into Dunnes Stores to see if I could pick up a bargain. TK Maxx is ten miles away and everybody wheres they latest stripey jumper from Tesco, so I needed something cheap but different. Dunnes Stores didn't disappoint!
I had once before looked in Dunnes and was taken aback by the shleves upon shelves of mens clothing that was simply for chavs, spides, scallies, whatever you want to call them. Pink and yellow, all that. This time however Dunnes had...

FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Clive Who
Advantages: See Review
Disadvantages: See Review
...Most of you will be wondering who on earth I am on about. Some will recognise the name as that of the author of “Raise the Titanic”, and a handful of you will have read all of his books and be fans of Clive Cussler – Grandmaster of Adventure. The fact that his books continue to sell by the thousand is a tribute to a remarkable man. He is not content with merely writing about finding treasure and sunken wrecks, he actually puts his money where his mouth is and joins in himself.
His best-known work “Raise the Titanic” is only one of Cussler’s classics, and introduces the world to someone called Dirk Pitt, who along with his sidekick Al Giordino succeeds in making James Bond and Flash Gordon to appear like a pair of pansies. The escapades of the pair at times stretch the imagination, their...

Fun at Dunn's
Advantages: fun,good value,good climb
Disadvantages: not recommended for younger children/people unable to climb
...This is definately one not to be missed whilst in Jamaica.
We really enjoyed the catamaran cruise that "cool runnings" provided to this destination.
On the way out, you could jump off the boat and snorkel on the reef, then once you arrived at Dunn's river falls it was time to climb!
At first I thought that I would stand and watch, but I really wanted to try the climb and found that I managed pretty easily when following my own rules.
You are asked to hold hands with the person in front and the person behind you, however at certain times I found that I needed both hands to climb the rocks (especially where it can get a bit slippery). It is, however, a good idea to stay near those in front of you and behind you, as you are able to help each other out quite a lot and find different ways across the rocks.
The experienced tour...

Country DUNN well
Advantages: another quality release from this duo
Disadvantages: unknown in uk due to the country label
...This, the fifth album by the country duo of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, is superior to their last release in many ways.
They seem a lot more settled in the various styles they attempt.
The opening track for example, "How Long Gone", is in the contemporary style we associate with the likes of Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw, but where as on the last album (Borderline) this style was the weak link this is a good tune, with a strong melody and quietly rocking riff. The vocals are great, very much settled in their own style.
Other outstanding tracks on the album are
I Can't Get Over You
This falls somewhere between contemporary and ballad and doesn't suffer for it. It has a great melody and the vocals really carry the majority of the tune along. Its almost a cry for help, and
the chorus really digs into that feeling.
If You...

Mister B. Gone - an unusual book for Clive Barker
Advantages: Easy to read
Disadvantages: A bit repetitive
...I have read most of Clive Barker's books which are often set in strange worlds (Weaveworld, Abarat) and have come to expect the unexpected from him. However, even bearing this in mind, this short book (only 248 pages in the paperback edition) still came as a bit of a surprise. It's unusual for Clive Barker to write such a short book, and to have so few major characters involved. It's also unusual for him to use one of the few major characters as a narrator.
Jakabok Botch (the Mister B. of the title) speaks directly to the reader throughout, starting with explaining just how even for a demon he is hideously disfigured. After being tempted by a piece of steak and a can of beer on a line he is "fished" up through several "Circles" into our World circa the 14th/15th century.
After escaping his captors quickly Mister B's narrative...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Dunns River sandals- bit of a letdown.....
Advantages: beautiful beach, fantastic buffet
Disadvantages: other resturants very poor
...trying to sell you stuff!
It had two pools, a loud one with "enforced fun" as we callef it- largely used by americans ;-) and a slightly smaller quieter one mainly used by the brits where you didnt get hassled to join in on water aerobics etc!
There were a fair few excursions you could go on but we ended up not going on any as much to our disgust there was again more enforced fun where if you went to Dunns rivers falls for example you then had to have a race down them for example. All the excursions that were of any interest to us were like this. We didnt go into the main town due to all the information on muggings, raping and shootings! we also felt very un-nerved on our way back to the airport as we were in a van with no seat belts and a driver who was just scary, i was literally flying out of my seat at some points! Also we got quite...
