Watched it last night and really enjoyed it. Reminded me a bit of 'The Thomas Crown Affair' starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. (If Mr McQueen had done the robbery himself) ? Advantages: The best of BBC's Christmas TV
Disadvantages: A bit too depressing at times

...Michael, Gordon Ramsey, David Tennant, George Michael, and Clive Owen all appear, sadly seeming like an anti-climax after Series 2's Robert De Niro cameo. Of the star cast Clive Owen puts in the biggest performance, and George Michael gets the biggest laugh telling a story of fly tipping involving Annie Lennox, Stuart Copeland, and Sting. There are other smaller cameos that include Hale and Pace, Dean Gaffney, Shaun Williamson, but with this billed as the shows finale outing I cant help but think that a little more star quality could have been added. First book in NUMA series, Serpent by Clive Cussler

Advantages: Fast action, lots of history
Disadvantages: Maybe weaker character development and writing than previous Cussler books

...Serpent is a novel by thriller writer Clive Cussler. For those familiar with the works of Cussler, they normally involve a character called Dirk Pitt, but this book marks the arrival of a new character, Kurt Austin. The book is the first in the NUMA series of books, of which more have since been released since this title was published. The basic plot is that a group called "The Brotherhood" try to wipe from the record the evidence that they had been contact in the past between the New and Old Worlds. Kurt Austin, Cussler's new character, is the boss of the National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA). The book begins with the destruction of the SS Andrea Doria and MS Stockholm, before jumping forward in time to new conflicts around the world. Mister B. Gone - an unusual book for Clive Barker

...I have read most of Clive Barker's books which are often set in strange worlds (Weaveworld, Abarat) and have come to expect the unexpected from him. However, even bearing this in mind, this short book (only 248 pages in the paperback edition) still came as a bit of a surprise. It's unusual for Clive Barker to write such a short book, and to have so few major characters involved. It's also unusual for him to use one of the few major characters as a narrator. Jakabok Botch (the Mister B. of the title) speaks directly to the reader throughout, starting with explaining just how even for a demon he is hideously disfigured. After being tempted by a piece of steak and a can of beer on a line he is "fished" up through several "Circles" into our World circa the 14th/15th century. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Michael Owen flawed genius

Advantages: speed, finishing, fear factor
Disadvantages: effort, cant hold the ball, out of form

...Three is no doubt that Michael Owen is a great player, he can finish well, has the intelligence to make great runs and the speed to get on the end of these runs, has a good temperament, can head the ball and has some ability when it comes to taking on players. I feel everyone knows these qualities and he is considered to be one of the top players in the world, however i have yet to see in recent games the Owen that has so impressed us in the past. In all three England games he has failed to perform very well, even managing to earn the right to be substituted twice. In the first game he definately would have been subbed instead of Vassell if he had not been captain at the time He seems to have lost the will, nay not will, more of the effort factor in his game.
