...The Astronomical Clock is located in the middle of the Old Town Centre and is actually mounted on the southern wall of the Old Town Hall. The Clock is one of the most popular attractions in Prague and hundreds of tourists gather at the base of the clock just before the hour to see the clock chime. The astronomical dial on the clock represents the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and also displays other various astronomical details. The mechanical clock and the astronomical dial are the oldest parts of the clock tower and date back to 1410. There are three main faces to the clock, these being the astronomical dial, the stationary background and the Zodiacal ring. Dual radio/alarm. Just what you need!

Advantages: Fantastic radio/alarm at a modest price

...Just before Christmas my trusty but rather elderly portable radio gave up the ghost. I needed another one. But this was just before Christmas and my mind was on other things. Like Christmas shopping! Whilst wandering round ASDA in Telford for a number of Christmas presents my wife drew my attention to a small but very attractive silver-coloured radio. It boasted digital tuning (it is not a DAB radio, however) and three wave bands. One AM and 2 FM. It also has a built-in alarm clock function and a dial light of a rather nice amber/orange colour. I was amazed at the price. £6.95? Surely it can't be any good for that price? It was actually remarkably good! Great sunrise clock

Advantages: Features sunrise and sunset settings.
Disadvantages: High price, have to dim light until its off.

...The benefits of this alarm clock I personally believe will vary from person to person. It basically is an alarm clock doubled up with a bedside lamp. The main feature of this device is it will switch its lamp on 30 mins before the alarm goes off and slowly glow to full brightness. The idea being that it simulates a sun-rise which in theory is supposed to encourage your brain to release chemicals associated with waking up. The benefits of this function will be most useful to people suffering S.A.D symtoms and individuals working shifts. Disadvantages: time freezes and then doesn't work, horrible alarm noise, not easy to use.

...Was given this last Christmas as a present. It isn't the easiest of clock radios to understand, the instructions aren't too bad, but trying to remember what to do each time you use it isn't easy, I find that I have to have the instructions to hand on each occasion. It has quite often had me wanting to throw it out of the window. The worst point about it is that for some unknown reason the time 'sticks' and the clock becomes un-useable, you have to unplug it to re-start it, I have taken it back for an exchange a couple of times, but to be honest I can't wait for next Christmas to a I can have another new one. BUYER BEWARE, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS CLOCK IF YOU WANT IT TO GET YOU UP IN A MORNING, THE TIME WILL HABVE PROBABLY FROZEN ON IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT....

Have patience with clock patience

...Clock Patience is not the best of games of patience. In fact it is just a game of chance. It takes up a lot of table or floor space and not a lot of brain power. I am sure it is a valid game to play occasionally. The rules of the game are very simple. First you make 13 piles of 4 cards each face down. The cards are placed in a circle with each pile on a poition of the numbers on a clock. The thirteenth pile is placed in the centre of the 'clock'. When the cards are all in place pick a card from the pile in the center. when you have looked at the number on it you place it in the apropriate place on the clock and remove a card from that pile. As with the previous card you put it in the apropriate place on the circle. Each place around the clock face will keep 4 cards. The idea is to be left with a pile of 4 cards...

...I've been using my new Sony Dream Machine clock radio for a few weeks now and can honestly say it was a good buy and cheap at the price. The Sony ICF-C317 is an AM / FM clock radio and comes in 3 metallic colours as advertised on the box.......Fame Silver, Flow Blue and Fun Red. At the time I purchased my clock only the silver was available which i think is a more subtle colour and would have been my choice even if all colours were available. The clock measures ........... W 146 x H 69.5 x D 145 mm. or W 5 3/4 x H 2 1/4 x D 5 3/4 inches. The instruction leaflet is very eay to understand with clear diagrams and gives a rundown on how to set -up and operate the clock radio and after reading the instructions I had my Sony Dream Machine set - up in no time. It's square shaped and stands on 4 feet which raises it slightly...

Firstly it shows you a diagram of all of the buttons that are on the clock, then it shows you what everything on the actual display is IE, the days of the week, the radio band, and whether it is AM or PM etc (I’ll explain more later). It then shows you the alarm setting dial, which you use to turn on/off the alarm, in whichever mode you want – radio or buzzer or both. It then goes on to explain how to set the clock, radio stations and alarm etc. Like I said, the instructions for use are really easy to follow, and I had no problems at all in setting it up. I had, for some time, been having trouble with my bedside light because the switch had become extremely stiff. Roberts CR9936 Clock Radio with CD

Advantages: great alarm, CD player, radio, no batteries
Disadvantages: CD is open, speaker covers get scratty, radio signal not great

...a bendable loose wire from the back which i think you're supposed to blue tack to the wall or something to get reception. Overall a 4 star rating, very good at waking you up with the high pitched and continuous bleeping, also the automatic snooze is fantastic so you don't end up switching it off and then missing meetings. However the radio signal and stero output isnt as great as our hifi system but if you want to just flick it on to listen to the local weather or traffic reports it's fine. The only other let down is the design as regards CD as cat get knocked off as is unprotected, by either hands, my bumping the cabinet when vaccumming or by one of the cats who try to stroke themselves on it. Overall a very neat, rather R2D2 looking tower clock radio, which is extremely durable as have had mine since 2002, which is still vavalible to buy...
