My Fitness Coach

Advantages: Flows nicely, good variety of moves, intensive
Disadvantages: It's not really very fun unless you like exercising

...I bought My Fitness Coach for two reasons. The first was due to the fact that despite being thin, I've lost a lot of my toning and thought the summer holidays would be a good time to try and get it back. The second was that it was £9.99 online, and for that price I figured it didn't matter if I only ended up playing it once or twice! Let's talk about my approach to fitness. This is easy: I don't have one. I walk to university every day and I, uh, walk around the house. I truly hate exercising. I had gym membership for six months and used it about three times during that time. I own Wii Fit, but lost interest in it fairly quickly. Coach Cares for the Kids

Advantages: Moving and inspirational film
Disadvantages: May be too long for some

...Coach Carter is a film which has been sat unwatched on my shelf for the last few months. Really don't know why we never got around to watching it but I am pleased we finally did. Samuel L Jackson stars as Ken Carter who gets asked to become the coach of the basket ball team at the school where he used to be a pupil. The team is not doing very well and the previous season they only managed to win 4 games. Coach Carter agrees to take the job but as long as he allowed to do the job his way. The team gets introduced to Coach Carter and he hands them all a contract. The contract says that in order to be on the team they must attend all their classes and sit in the front row, also on game days they must come to school wearing a shirt and tie. A Fitness Coach In Your Living Room For £9.99

Advantages: Good gameplay, Good music, A good game overall

...and there was not enough variety in each different section, it may be aimed at ?losing weight? but it never was able to do that for me. Then I heard about My Fitness Coach, I did have a Davina McCall exercise DVD, but after using it, I not only got quite bored but I could barely move for a week afterwards, so I decided to give this game ago. I had traded in a few games to GAME in the half term, and got a gift voucher with the money on, so decided to spend a little bit on this game. Carter the life Coach

Advantages: Samuel L Jackson, Feel good movie, uplifting
Disadvantages: bits can feel manufactured, clichéd

...The Movie The real life coach (Ken) Carter made the news in 1999 for closing the Gym and banning any basketball activities because several of the students in his team were not doing well in the classroom. The reason he took drastic action was because all the students on the team signed contracts that they would meet a minimum criteria which encompassed all of their education, not just the basketball side of it. Six years later in 2005 Samuel L Jackson steps into Carter's shoes for the movie where he transforms an unfit, uneducated, uncaring bunch of delinquent kids who won 4 basketball games the previous season into winners. My Fitness Coach is a hidden gem!

Advantages: Very personalized fitness routines, keeping the interest and motivation high.
Disadvantages: Poor graphics (but don't be put off by this)

...Wow! Well I didn't expect much from this 'game' having seen clips of it before buying it, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I may as well deal with the only negative aspect first as it is the most glaring letdown to this software. The Graphics, oh dear...very basic, chunky and clunky, not at all what we've come to expect from our games/software in the year 2009. There, that is the ONLY flaw on My Fitness Coach. ...I was not really interested in watching this film as would not normally appeal to me, however, was I bowled over or what. Completely different to any other sports film I have seen and with a great story line. The story is about an ex basketball player who is asked to go back and coach his old school team (yes I can hear you groan, see it, been done before). However he has very strict and you could say, old fashioned, ideas of how to do this. WA Shearings Coaching Holidays

Advantages: Lots of holidays on offer, can get some real bargains!
Disadvantages: If you don't like sitting for long periods....it isn't for you!

...Let me start by saying that I LOVE coach holidays!! I first travelled with Shearings (they've now merged with Wallace Arnold) with my parents when I was 13. We went to Lido Di Jesolo in Italy. I'm now 36 and have been to Spain, Italy, Slovenia and Poland with Shearings (in 3 weeks I'm off to Belgium with them) and I've been to France and Austria with rival coach companies. There's a huge range of destinations, but I'll put them into 2 simple categories. 1) Overnight Express: you stay on the coach overnight (and try to sleep) This means the holiday will be considerably cheaper and you arrive at your resort considerably earlier. 2) No overnight travel: You stay in hotels en route which means the holidays will be more expensive but easier for those of you who shudder at the thought of trying to sleep on a moving vehicle! Coach Carter - Basketball Coach

Advantages: A warm, touching story with adrenalin fuelled scenes that keep you watching !!
Disadvantages: You can kind of guess the storyline but its still just as great!!

...I first decided to watch this film as I knew it had Samuel L Jackson in it. I'm not a big sports fan so didn't particularly think it would interest me. However I soon realised that it wasn't really all about basketball but the underlying problems of todays youth and found the messages it sends to be heart warming and I thoroughly enjoyed the film. Ok, so what's it about ? The film is inspired by a true story about a man called Ken Carter (Samuel L jackson). He is offered a job as head coach of a struggling basketball team at his former school in Richmond. His job description is not as easy as it looks.
