Hook Line and Sinker

...A couple of weeks ago, we picked up a copy of the Peter Pan film produced in 2003 for my son. We watched it as a family and both Rikki and I were disappointed in its lack of something special that we remembered seeing in Hook when we were kids. This is what instigated my search for a copy of Hook ? partly for my son, and partly to confirm to my partner and me that the film had been as great as we remembered. Hooked up

...etc. With this in mind, we bought this hook, so that we could hand the bird feeder on the hook. The hook itself is black coated steel and is 4 foot from base to top and once pushed securely into the soil, it really doesn't move. We have pushed it about a foot into the soil so Little Miss can reach the bird feeder, and have positioned it in such a way that the birds can fly and hang freely round it and there is no fear of them feeding and being hit off a wall! It actually looks like a shepherds crook with a nice big hook on which several types of things could be hung- i am now thinking wind chimes, and lanterns! I imagine it would be handy for anyone wanting to hang lanterns if they were camping, as the hook can be used in borders, beds, grass, and in patio tubs (only thing with tubs is make sure they are deep enough to keep the hook...

By Hook or by crook

Advantages: A change from the normal Pan story
Disadvantages: Poor acting and writing

...Hook is a variation on the Peter Pan story, but rather than Peter being the 12 or 13 year old boy he always was, we find that Peter is a middle aged man, and a miserable one at that. Peter is now an a lawyer (no wonder he's miserable!!), spends more time concentrating on his clients than his family. He has been invited to be the key speaker at a function to honour Wendy, who's now an elderly lady who's devoted her life to helping orphans and Great Ormand Street Hospital. So much so they are dedicating a new wing to her. Peter has two children, a boy named Jack and a younger girl called Maggie. Maggie strangely enough has the lead role in a play about Peter Pan, and not realising the play is abtually about him, Peter tries to enjoy watching, but is interrupted by clients. These same clients make Peter miss Jack's final baseball game...

Hook Hook wheres the Hook!

...adopted by an American couple called the Pannings (bit of a conicidence don;t you think) and when Peter grew up he married Moira and had two lovely children - Jack and Maggie Panning. So the story starts in America where Peter and his family are getting ready to visit Granny Wendy in London They arrive in London for the opening of a new wing of the Childrens Hospital which is being dedicated to Granny Wendy. Whilst at the ceremony Hook arrives at Wendy's house and kidnaps Jack and Maggie and takes them back to Never Land with him in an attempt to get Peter back there so as to settle unfinished business - namely Captain James Hook wants justice done for the loss of his hand. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat

...Those of you who have read any of my beauty product reviews might remember that many of them cite a make up guru - ie: mother. Well here she is again! The mother does nails as part of her beauty room business, and has used Seche Vite on clients and for personal use for years. She bought it from Sally's hair and beauty supplies but it is widely availabe over the internet - I bought mine from ebay at just under £6 per bottle (plus postage) for a 0.5oz bottle. Basically, the formula penetrates through the nail polish to the base coat forming a single solid coating over the nail plate for a very durable finish. The official blurb is that its guaranteed not to yellow which I have indeed found to be true. It also says it absolutely will not chip - sadly I have NEVER found a product that eliminates chipping, and seche vite, wonderful...

...Hook represents so much to me. I believe that it has a great message for our society and the way we live today. In our adult life, we tend to leave (and sometimes scoff) our childhood behind as if it never existed at all. In the movie, Peter has grown up and forgotten his past. This change makes him a crass, terrible person, focusing only on work instead of his family. During the movie, he finds himself and his childhood memories and becomes a better, more caring person. In real life, most adults of today are work driven individuals with very little time for joy or relaxation. This movie teaches that all it takes is a little taste of a person's childhood mixed into their adult life to make them and their environment around them better....

...BACKGROUND On our first trip to Mexico we were looking at which excursions to book and the Captain Hook excursion sounded like a good option. The idea is you go out on one of two boats at night, watch a 'pirate show', the drinks are all inclusive and apparently flow freely all night, you can have either a lobster or steak dinner and then towards the end the two boats 'meet' in the water and the 'pirates' jump from ship to ship fighting. In theory it is a great idea. Now unfortunately for us the trip did not start off well in that we almost double booked ourselves. We had booked our dolphin swim for in the day at 1pm and the Captain Hook excursion was to pick us up from our hotel at 6pm if I remember rightly.
