A decent 7 incher for under £120

Disadvantages: eats batteries when turned off, dvd hatch doesn't open fully on its own

...the code to 255 using right Arrow. That was contributed by Coby tech support, so top marks for the company there. The sound is very good, loud and clear. It also has two headphone jacks, which is good if you have friends. Battery life is reasonable, I think about 3-4 hours, although I've never watched it for this long continuously. It does run the battery down if its turned off with the battery attached, so I always remove the battery when I'm not using it. A spot annoying, but enough to make me break through the apathy barrier and do something. All in all, I'm very happy with it. Highly recommend it to anyone in the market for one, and let me know if yours still runs down the battery like mine. Or if the little lid over the DVD opens fully on pressing the button....

A love story in reverse

Roach Infestation

Advantages: High energy Nu-Metal

..."Infest" came in 2000 as the second album from the Nu-Metal band, Papa Rach. It was their first big label release, which had them spread their Californian sound to a worldwide audience. The group are made up Jacoby Shaddix (also known as Coby Dick), Jerry Horton, Tobin Esperance, Tony Palermo, and David Buckner. Coby, the lead singer, and founder drives the Alternative sound of the group, as the rest provide the general Metal sound, whereas he gives it the twist, which was popular from the late nineties to early on in the 2000s, as he raps as well as doing the normal Rock singing. The Nu-Metal movement was deeper than simply rapping over Metal, and these can all be seen throughout the album as Hip Hop is imlemented into various parts of the record. Papa Roach - Infest

Advantages: The cover and the music definitly played a part in my opinion of this album
Disadvantages: The size of the inside sleeve.

...This album is one of the best new albums that has been released in the past couple of months. Papa Roach's style of music has been paralleled by many to that of Limp Bizkit. However, Infest prvoes this not to be the case. Coby Dick's vocal talents are expressed in many different ways in this album. From the sensitive, soft tone he uses in broken home to the loud and boistrous tone used in blood brothers. The musical talent of the band also varies as much. The variation within the first 6 tracks of the album is amazing and shows that the band have the musical talent to compete with their counterparts Limp Bizkit. If this new rock music is the thing for you then i would suggest this album. The mix of soft and hard rock songs makes for a flowing listen. PAPA ROACH - Infest

Advantages: Good upbeat rock.
Disadvantages: Not very original. They tend to sound pretty much the same.

...This album is great for turning up loud to when you are feeling a bit down and need some good hard core rock in your life. The album features some well produced tracks. The lyrics are thought provoking especially in 'Last Resort' and 'Broken Home'. Those particular tracks are also very sad because of the content of the lyrics. I think it could reach teenagers on quite a personal level which would be good for sales. You can feel that it has come from personal experience. Maybe from Coby Dick himself? When you buy the album you get the added bonus of the video of Last Resort which is great. I always like watching that. Also a live performance of Dead Cell...interesting to listen to the added commentary. I think this album is mainly aimed at a teenage audience. It wont be THROWN AWAY

Advantages: Great Album
Disadvantages: Need to like Papa Roach, because all songs are the same style.

...the briefest of attempts at a quiet intro, which is mainly a large gong backwards type sound – Papa Roach give up and just play all their instruments very loud while singer Coby Dick mumbles along at a great pace. Then it’s into the song proper. Wall of noise guitars and energy over talent vocals is the order of the day in the chorus while the verse calms the guitar down to a more funky, muted riff – occasionally mixing in an effect such as wah wah to make it a bit different. It’s a very good song, if you happen to like that sort of thing, which I do, if you follow. * Last Resort * This is the one your most likely to know, being the song I saw on Top of the Pops. It’s a cheerful little ditty all about suicide covering similar musical ground to Infest. Sufficiently similar for me not to go through it all again...

Writing this was no last resort

...As I start to write an opinion on Infest, I must write a little or a lot on the band it’s self, so here is my little shrine to the American Rockers. Papa Roach is made of four band members. They were formed in 1993 when friends, Coby Dick, Jerry Horton, Dave Buckner and Tobin Esperance. They originate from Vacaville in California and were influenced by the likes of Primus. The genre for the music they produce is nu-metal, which is really a mix of Hip-Hop, groove-funk and Hardcore. Trust me these guys are amazing! So, the debut album Infest on what I’m meant to be writing about here. I am sitting here and I know of course every song off by heart. Advantages: Good mixture of rock styles

...This album has an excellent mixture of rock, which includes soft rock, rap rock and hard rock. This mixture is blended very skillfully with everything exactly in the right place. The first track has the same name as the album – ‘Infest’. This song is not as good as some of the others. I don’t quite know why but it doesn’t have a memorable rhythm, though the skilled electric guitars players (Tobin Esperance and Jerry Horton) and the drummer (Dave Buckner) make it a worth while first track.
