Why have boots changed their Traditional Cold Cream?

Advantages: No longer has any. It used to be perfect. I would have said it was the best product ever!
Disadvantages: Thick, Vaseline Texture, Smells chemically, Does not remove makeup easily.

...I am deeply disappointed with this product. I have been using this for two years, after my mum recommended it to me. She has been using it for years. But now, neither of us will be. A few months ago I bought a new pot of the cream and noticed that it didn't feel 'right'. I didn't think much more about it and carried on using it. Until this week! A couple of months ago I developed a rash on my face and it's still there. I've been to the doctors twice and have been given endless creams and nothing is working. The other night I was in the bathroom taking my makeup off with the cold cream, when I remembered about me noticing the change in my cold cream. I ran straight to my mums bathroom and grabbed her pot because she's not bought one for about 5 months (they last ages!). My cream is TOTALLY different. Boots are still packaging it...

Eight Hour Cream

Advantages: Only need to use a tiny amount so lasts for years!
Disadvantages: None

...This cream comes in a tube and initially seems quite expensive (when I bought my last tube it cost £17). It states that it is for use on chapped or weather burned skin ? basically for use anywhere on the body. It is a brilliant lip salve ? it may seem expensive but I can?t remember the last time I bought a tube ? it must be at least 2 years ago. The cream never goes off and lasts for ages as you only need to use the tiniest amount each time. Another thing it is very good for is when you have a sore red nose during a cold. It soothes and fixes dry skin extremely quickly and in my mind is great value for money....

...I have been interested in various traditional based skin products for at least three years now which I am glad that Boots still do produce such products, only bought it a moment ago, therefore I shall report after using it for a while. Like the excellent reviewer before me, I very much agree everything noted from the price(no advertising cost), design (1930's) and formula (simple but effective) of such product. As I have using cold cream from various origin, namely from China which also deem very old fashion but one can still buy it in Hong Kong (made in Shanghai name Butterfly, excellent product though I must say but I do not think one can buy in here in UK, but if one is in Hong Kong, do look out for it). I mostly use cold cream for body moisturising daily after shower, as I love using soap which makes me feel squeaky clean...

...I have used Boots Own brand Avert Cold Sore Cream on many occasions to relieve both the symptoms of cold sores on my lips and relieve the itchiness of cold sores before they appear. This cream is an excellent way of dually preventing & relieving this nasty problem. The tube only contains 2g of cream, but you don't need much to rub onto the affected area. The main active ingredient is Aciclovir 5% w/w. Other ingredients include Poloxamor 407, Cetosearyl, Alcohol, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, White Soft Paraffin & others. To use this cream you must wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying to the affected area. I use my finger end to gently rub a small amount over the itchy part of my lip (if i feel a cold sore starting to appear), or if one has already developed.
