Our stay in Colditz

...**BOOKING THE HOTEL** It's actually not easy finding a hotel in Colditz on the internet; I don't know if that's because there are not many but it seemed that there was only one hotel right in the centre of Colditz, and close to the castle. Because we knew that we would have to do a lot of travelling to get there, we did want something right in the middle of things, especially because once there, we would be walking wherever we wanted to go. Lots of searches later, I came up with this hotel, and duly telephoned the given number. The gentleman who answered the phone was fortunately excellent at English and very helpful (this was fortunate because my German skills are sadly lacking). I explained that we wanted a twin room, and this was duly reserved for us, although he required no "up front" payment, not even credit card...

Disadvantages: I don't feel 433 pages is long enough

Courage, Bravery and Ingenuity.

Advantages: Brilliant and Realistic tale of allied POWs courage and ingenuity inside Colditz Caslte.
Disadvantages: No special features - Bit of a shame - But it is an old film.

A godsend...

Advantages: Very good, lots of action
Disadvantages: no sex.

...Finally, we get a good film made in Holywood about the past which isnt all completly lies! It may sound harsh but someone tell them that there were no Americans at Colditz and that the brits stole the enigma machine from a U boat not in one. Any way, while the story is basically about a man killing people in revenge for his wife and childs murder and betrayel by the Emporers son... well its complicated.. It has a good storyline and the effects are brilliant. The acting is superb especially Russel Crowe (Might I add not a yank). Well wort a watch....

...This is one of a handful of films that I would be happy to watch over again. I was not looking forward to seeing Chicken Run but went along anyway. This is agreat little film, if you're old enough to remember the likes of the Great Escape or Colditz you will appreciate the humour more than some. If you don't remember these classics you'll love the characters and marvel at the imagination of the film makers who came up with the fantastic chicken pie machine and the 'escape craft'. This film is equally enjoyable to youngsters and wrinklies, although a couple of the scenes might upset very young children be warned, otherwise escape into the wonderful world of the Chicken Run....

P.O.W.

Advantages: Interesting, An Insight into P.O.W Camps
Disadvantages: No Series 2?

...which has a twist story as his wife Alice Dreiber who is played by Amelia Curtis is an English woman at the camp with him. The story also shows the emotional and mental effects in subjects of murder, prisoners leaping the escape queue because of family circumstances and spies in the camp. I found the series very entertaining and would recommend it to anyone interested in WWll or general drama as not since the early 1970's and the days of Colditz. Special Features/ Extrras Include production notes, P.O.W. Hooch Recipe, P.O.W. Slang Dictionary and a Photo Gallery which includes pictures of the cast and thier previous jobs in acting....

Waiting for god Series 3 (AKA how to grow old disgracefully)

...War games seem to be all the rage nowadays with Medal Of Honour, Commandos 2 and now Prisoner of War all hitting the PS2 in the same sortie. POW is a difficult game to sum up. It's like MGS2 during the war but without guns. It features sneaking around avoiding guards, collecting items and interacting with NPC's, but there's no high-tech gadgetry or getting pooed on by seagulls. You take the role of Lewis Stone, a recon pilot shot down over occupied territory and captured by the Germans. You start in a small holding camp and in order to get free you have to chat with inmates who already know the camp's routines and secrets.
