Magellan 9 - a good value family tent

Advantages: Attractive, 3 bedrooms plus good sized centre, packs away small, rel. easy to pitch
Disadvantages: Was expensive originally but can be got for good discount now

...We've had this tent for 2 or 3 years now and it's been excellent for ocassional summer camping trips - Devon, Dorset, Cotswolds. It's quick to put up (once you've done it a couple fo times) and easy to transport in the back of our estate. Also well designed, with sown in ground sheet (no bugs get in and you can sweep out) and individual bedroom pods, and a good size central room into which one of those standard tables easily fits. It survived a gale on the Dorset cliff tops - pegs started to pop out, leaving flapping panels and lots of noise but nothing as serious the 'one star' review describes! No rain got in and the structure stood firm. No signs of wear and tear yet. Generally a sturdy, well designed, easy to put up tent (which is important to us going on very short breaks)....

Coleman Savannah - Ideal family tent.

Advantages: Easy to erect
Disadvantages: Can be dark inside

...The Coleman Savannah is a 6 person frame tent. It has an iside height of200cm high which is ample height for the average family! The tent is a kind of octagonal shape with the bedroom area taking 1 half & living area the other. We found the tent very easy to erect with colour coded steel poles which feed through from the outside of the tent, then legs attatched to lift the flysheet & place the tent in positon ready to be pegged down. There is then a groundsheet for the living area. The inner bedroom tents have an integral groundsheet & the whole thing is hung inside with colour coded hooks. What we particularly like as well is that there is a separate 'storage' area like a zipped up compartment where the cool box & bags ect can be stored. Review of Coleman Savannah Frame Tent

Tent left in ruins by moderate wind

Advantages: Spacious
Disadvantages: Poles incapable of withstanding UK August weather, No spares, No response from Coleman

...After just 9 nights using this tent, we came back to our campsite in Cornwall in August to find it had completely collapsed under the wind (forecast at 26mph so hardly severe). 3 poles snapped (1 in 2 places) and 2 poles were bent badly. We scrapped our holiday. Coleman have not responded to emails and my local store tells me they don't hold spare parts like poles now they are made in China. Also they no longer make this tent. To start with we thought this was agreat family tent and were very happy, but this is the first time in many decades of camping in all sorts of conditions I've had a tent fail so badly and customer service is non-existant so beware!...

Coleman Bi-Space 300 - a good tent for two people

It features a tall living space - which comes with a groundsheet and a lower smaller sleeping area. The tent is fairly easy to put up! we have even done it in the dark, the poles and loops are colour coded so you know where to thread each rod. The rods fit together nicely and have no trouble getting them through or taking them out - remember to push the rod and not pull otherwise the connections with come loose! Once all the rods are in place you can see the shape of the tent - pegging it down is very time consuming, there are lots of peg loops and a skirt which runs right around the tent...this can be folded up in the day to let air in, we tend not to use it because of all the pegs, but its comforting knowing your...

Coleman Weathermaster tent

Advantages: A reasonable sized tent for the average family
Disadvantages: Quite heavy and bulky

...I've had this tent for about 6 years now and it's accompanied us on many camping trips. The manufacturer states it's an 8 person tent. Personally, I think they're referring to Snow White and the Seven Dwarves here, because it's not THAT big! Myself, hubby, teenage son and 12 year old daughter fit it in quite nicely, but I wouldn't want to fit any more in after that! PROS: Nice and roomy for 4 people (wouldn't bother after that). It keeps you warm! No drafts get through and it has plenty of ventilation when it's hot. It's withstood high winds and downpours quite nicely without any problems. CONS: We find it quite big and bulky to transport with all our other camping equipment, but to be fair, I suppose that's the drawback of buying a large(ish) tent. It has an annoying habit of not sitting quite flush to the ground in one...

A very light small tent

Advantages: small and therefore warm, light, easy to put ip
Disadvantages: little headroom, not good in extreme cold

...A very good tent indeed. I have used this tent on many 2,3,4 and 5 day trips and it has prooved very good. It is easy to assemble with only 2 poles and can easily be done by one person in only 3-4 minutes. I have also put mine up in gale fore winds with driving rain at 2 in the morning on Dartmoor. It is also very spacious and when hiking it is perfect for 2 people and all their kit. I was also pleasantly surprised by the fact that the tent does not create much condensation, in fact very little and the numerous inside pockets and twin vestibule areas are very useful for essential kit and cookin, respectively. The tent is also very light at under 5lb it makes little impression on your pack. It also has another advantage of being used as a single sheet tent, prefect for on the beach or just as a sun shelter. One minor disadvantage is that...

My Tent with Rooms

Advantages: Breathable fabric keeps cool in the heat and warm when it is cooler
Disadvantages: It is quite weighty and quite expensive

The ups and downs of a family tent.

Advantages: Lots of space for everyone.
Disadvantages: No longer made.

...The Khyam Michigan 12 was only made in 2007 so can be hard to come by now. But if you are after a large, well set out tent, and you find one of these then grab it whilst you can. The tent is an outer pitch first, or all in one. Personally we leave the inners in place which reduces the pitching time. The tent itself is large and can be difficult and heavy to put up. Saying that I am under 5ft and have limited mobility so if me and hubby can put it up between us then I'm sure others could easily. We have reduced the pitching time to around 30 - 45 minutes now, which is not bad considering. One good thing though, is that although the tent is large it still fits on most pitches so no extra charges. The tent has 3 inners. All or some can be removed if wanted. The largest is 6 berth. This is used by our 4 children and is just big enough...

A 4 man tent with no men! (HONEST)!!

Advantages: Just a cool looking, well designed and functional tent.
Disadvantages: None for me.

...With T in the park weekend over and a great time had by all, I thought I would review the tent that was my home for the weekend. The tent in question was a Confidence Mars 4 Man Waterproof Dome Tent and although it is a 4 ?MAN? tent there were only me and my two girlfriends staying in this one (well that?s my story and I am sticking to it)! Now I am no camper so I cannot really give too much comparison between this tent and any other except to say it was worlds apart from the old tents I used to camp in as a kid. This tent has one separate bedroom compartment with zippers which would have been useful if any of us had picked up some guy and needed a bit of privacy (BUT WE DIDNT)!! It also had air vents so whilst being completely waterproof it did not become sweaty and therefore wetter inside than it was out, possibly the best thing...
