Coleraine, Portrush, Portstewart what a Combo

Advantages: Beautiful coastline and scenery
Disadvantages: its cold and it rains a lot!

...Coleraine is located on the north coast of northern Ireland. Northern ireland is such a beautiful place to visit with many a tourist attraction to see!!! But with the hype of the troubles and bad publicicty on television, the reality of its beauty is never the focus! Im from Belfast and never really had any reason to go to coleraine until I started univeristy 5 years ago. I moved to coleraine when i was 18 and have since fell in love with it. WEATHER: The weather in coleraine is pretty much the same as the rest of northern ireland, which can be cold, blustery, windy and rainy at times, but given a sunny day and beauty fills this place. If you are a tourist, there is a lot to do around the north coast. Coleraine is no more than 20 minutes from The famous Giant's Causeway - where, and the Rope Bridge. You should also visit...

Pack Your Bags...Your Coming To Coleraine!

Advantages: Beautiful Scenery, great attractions! What more could you ask for?
Disadvantages: None what so ever

...Many people would turn there back on Northern Ireland, too many terrorists and not enough love. Well, obviously these people haven?t been around Coleraine at night, it truly is the place to be. Coleraine Borough is an outstandingly beautiful area featuring some of the most spectacular countryside in Northern Ireland. An ideal holiday base for all the family, there's simply so much to see and do. For children there are water activities, beaches, adventure playgrounds and amusements. Golfers can perfect their game on any one of ten challenging courses while anglers will enjoy some of the best fishing in Europe. Watersports and lots of other activities are easily accessible. Lots of Colourful spectacles and events include the Raft Race Festival and North West 200 Motor Cycle Races to name but two. A range of excellent...

Coleraine and the north antrim coast

Advantages: Beautiful and loads to do
Disadvantages: rains alot

...i reccomend. White park bay is also very nice. STUFF TO DO In Portrush there are tennis courts, crazy golf and kids playgrounds. There is also a small fun fair called Barrys which is great for all the family. Theres also a cinema, 10 pin bowling and a swimming pool. Coleraine is great for shopping. There are some good places for fishing, and lets not forget the world class golf courses! The Riverview theatre in Coleraine always has something interesting going on! PLACES TO STAY Countless bed and breakfasts in Portrush! White park bay youth hostel is really nice if you are on a budget. If you're not, then the royal court hotel in Portrush is nice. MISC The 'superfry' chip shop in Portstewart (near the anchor) is lovely! Barrys and some other things may be closed during the winter....

University Of Ulster Coleraine

Advantages: many
Disadvantages: few

...I attended University of Ulster Coleraine about 5 years ago when I did my Bsc hons in Social Psychology. Overall, I found the course very enjoyable but hard work. The coursework is quite heavy, but interesting as there are modules on biopsychology, criminology, cross cultural psychology, sex and gender, and research methods to name but a few. The Uni itself is to be recommended to all potential students, it has a lot of facilities on site, there are two very good libraries and the staff are helpful, but busy. The uni is divided into Central and South buildings with south being accessed via a covered walkway so you don't get wet. The main building holds the bookshop, registry, library, shops, bank and launderette plus if my memory serves me right there are 3 different places to eat with the best being in the basement providing...

Coleraine - Centre for the Causeway Coast

Advantages: A very good central base for a holiday, or even to live
Disadvantages: The weather control is not always what it could be, but where is?

...I have known Coleraine for nearly 50 years ago, and while I go away from time to time, I always return. It is a great town, one of the few towns which has had the sense to keep the whole shopping area free from traffic (in the main). There are many good eating and drinking places, both in town, and in surrounding district. As well as most of the UK national chains, the town has several geuine local establishments, which make the journey worthwhile - especially at sale time you can pick up excellent bargains in clothing and foootwear, all within a few seconds walk from the outstanding 'Diamond', which contains the 'Town Hall'. As it is only a few miles inland from the Causeway Coast, with about 30 miles of excellent beaches, and wonderful coast line and harbours, not to omit 'The Giant's Causeway', and 'Old Bushmills...

Review of Londonderry in General

Faculty of Informatics - Jordanstown

Advantages: Constantly updated course with good facilities
Disadvantages: Could be more options available on the Computing Science course

...The best University in Northern Ireland if not the whole of the UK for studing Computing Science. The course is reviewed all the time and input from the students is taken on board. Changes in the course do reflect the needs of industry and this is a good thing. The technologies and hardware available is the best the that I have seen and heard of. I would recommend that if you wish to take on an undergraduate Computer course you check out the University of Ulster. Computing courses are offered in Magee, Coleraine and Jordanstown....

Motorbike racing - North West 200 A great day out

Advantages: Great for Motorbike fans
Disadvantages: To long for the kiddies

...Before meeting my husband I had absolutely no interest in motorbikes what so ever, but he adored them and attended the North West 200 every year before we met. May 1998 and The North West was approaching ,I decided to go with him to see what it was like and to my surprise I actually enjoyed watching the races. We have being going every year since and we always take the kids, surprisingly they enjoy it too. What is the North West 200 ? The North West is a large motorbike racing event, which takes place in Northern Ireland on a yearly basis. The race circuit is around three towns, Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine. (Better known as the triangle) When is this event ? The North West 200 takes place for a week in May, Throughtout the week there are many activies held in and around the three towns and on the Tuesday...

Nectar, petrol & fake chicken!

Advantages: Own brand goods
Disadvantages: Expensive, some limited ranges

...Sainsbury's are a relatively new chain to Northern Ireland, and have few supermarkets. There are only three I would tend to shop in, depending on were I am at the time. When I'm in Belfast, it's Forestside, & when in Coleraine, I shop there. Sainsbury's attracts my custom for 2 simple reasons, the nectar card, and also their own branded goods. Anything apart from that, I tend to find cheaper elsewhere. I like the addition of Nectar points, as they can be used on a wide range of items, although it does mean spending £500 to get £2.50 off your shopping. I tend to purchase my petrol from Sainsbury's though, so it adds up for me in that way. I keep meaning to save up my points for something nice like a facial, but usually just use them to get money off my shopping. The Sainsbury’s store in Belfast is 24 hours a day from...

Review of Sainsburys (Shop)

Finally..

Advantages: Good hairdressers, local, freindly
Disadvantages: Slightly pricey

...I have been looking for a decent hairdressers for ages, and due to pute luck, I found the Coleraine branch of this chain late last year. They have branches in Coleraine, Larne & Ballymena, and are modern, stylish salons. Everything is computerised, meaning you always get the same person for your appointments, and allthe staff are friendly and actually listen to what you want from your hairstyle, rather than what they want to do. Prices start from around £25 for a cut & blow dry, and my highlights cost around £75, but my hair has been in great condition since, so I don't mind paying that bit more. They are also very patient, and a cut & blow dry usually takes around an hour & my highlights took around 2 1/2 hours. I would recommend this salon if you are in Northern Ireland, & near a salon, It is pricey, but we;; worth it!...

Review of Shek Hair Group (Northern Ireland)

London type hair salon, in rural N.Ireland!

Advantages: Stylish, good hairdressers, friendly
Disadvantages: Pricey for N. Ireland

...First of all, please note that my opinion here is based on my experience of the Coleraine salon. Shek Hair Group is a chain of hairdressers located across Northern Ireland - it is present in Coleraine, Belfast, Ballymena, Larne (and possibly other towns that I am not aware of). It is evidently trying to be a stylish London type chain, even though it can be found in smallish N.Irish towns (like Coleraine). My experience so far has been fantastic. The Coleraine salon is stylish, laid out in a very modernistic fashion with the hairdressers dressed in smart black clothes (all of course with immaculate hair). The staff themselves are very friendly and all the cuts I've had have been great. I in fact wait to get my hair done here when I'm home rather than getting it done in London. The cuts I've had have been just as good as the London...
