Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Grey Comedy.

Advantages: Light entertainment, slightly different from usual, good value for money
Disadvantages: A poor interpretation of Pinter's play.

...A couple of weeks ago my English class and I, along with a couple of teachers, escaped from the classroom and trundled off to the Comedy Theatre (Panton Street, off Haymarket, Piccadilly). After a longer than expected and re-routed train journey (courtesy of Connex South-Eastern) we reached the theatre with a few seconds to spare before the curtain was raised and the performance (directed by Robin Lefevre) of Harold Pinter’s classic work began. The play is very dark and disgusting, although a dubious comedy, and we had studied it previously so ‘knew’ what to expect (I shall elaborate upon the plot later, but I’ll try to avoid spoilers). And of course, as with any school outing, there was a catch. Un Comedie d'erreurs

Advantages: Location is fairly central, staff are attentive to requests
Disadvantages: No restaurant, basic room facilities, housekeeping could be improved

...Hotel Comedie is a three star property in Geneve's City Centre, on the busy Rue de Carouge. It was business, rather than pleasure that took me there for my recent one month stay. The actual purpose of my trip was also hotel related, in that I was working with a project team on a system roll out for one of the most luxurious brands in the world. Unfortunately, at the time of my arrival they did not have a hotel in Geneve City..and they always book this place for visitors, as it is convenient to the office. The website gives away very little too, in fact it is nothing more than their name and address on a page, suffice it to say I was mildly alarmed at that, but my manager in Geneve had told me on the telephone said he had stayed here for a few weeks and it was ok. Arriving at the hotel by taxi is actually a challenge in itself...

Review of The Divine Comedy

Greatest stand up comedy alive!!

Advantages: Lots of funny, non stop laughter
Disadvantages: There is no outtakes, deleted scenes as its all live.

...MY OPINION ON THE FILMS I love watching this box set , i have many other of his dvds which i love wathing but i do like this boxset. Im my opinion Lee evans is one of the best stand up comedians around at the moment. It has all of his comedy acts which he has performed in the years of 1994-2005. He does produce a lot of sweat during all of his performances and makes jokes about it in some of the dvds in this set which makes it funny. Dont let the sweat put you off though. He is a great person of his own. He is a normal person whom talks about friends, family, his wife, holidays, travelling, climate and sports. But they all seem to be non-racist which is good and they are all just so extremely funny no matter how many times you watch these dvds. I really enjoyed watching them all as the 1st time you watch these all you can do is...

10 best comedies

Advantages: lots of laughs great comedies

...I just love to watch the comedies as there is never a dull moment in them and you will always laugh at them. My top ten are 1..........The vicar of dibley This is my all time favourite i love Dawn French as the vicar in this comedy she is such a funny woman and to watch Alice as the verger when she doesn't get any of the jokes. 2........Porridge Ronnie Barker is a great comedian he knows how to make you laugh set in a prison Ronnie Barker plays an inmate called Norman Stanley Fletcher. 3.....Last of the summer wine Bill Owen who plays Compo is a scruffy man but is such a laugh especially when he is always saying he's in love with Nora Batty. the mountain peak of comedy

Advantages: the best of US comedy, some good classic films and specials

...When I got my OnDigital package I was given a selection of chennels to choose from, one was the nickelodeon/paramount channel and this seemed a better bet than say the cooking channel. The programme schedule is more reliable than the UK train timetable. It starts at 7.00pm every day and during the weekdays there is a regular schedule of programming that features some of the best in US and UK comedy. At set in stone timeslots you can see the likes of Third Rock From The Sun, Spin City, Married With Children and The Frank Skinner Show. Most of the shows come from the USA so if you're not a fan of US comedy then this channel proabably won't have a lot to offer. US comedy is actually getting to the point of bettering our output. Some of the older US shows they have from time to time are pretty lame but these are few and far between...

Comedy to suit all tastes

Advantages: Good mix of British and American comedies
Disadvantages: Takes up too much of my time!

...Comedy fans take note - The Paramount Comedy channel shows non-stop comedy, hour after hour, day after day and is fast becoming one of the most popular channels on Sky Digital. ~~~~~~~~~~ But what is it that makes it so good? Is it the mix of American classics and British programming? Perhaps it is the nurturing of home grown talent. Some people would argue that it is the weekend stand up comedy specials. ~~~~~~~~~~ For me, what makes the Paramount Comedy Channel one of the best around, is a mixture of the above. Cynics argue that it must be too good to be true and that there can’t be enough comedy programmes around to warrant a channel which broadcasts each day from 9am to 4am. Granted, some daytime shows are repeated in the evening (eg. Taxi, Caroline In The City) and not all programmes would suit everybody’s taste...
