Comet - Not good if something goes wrong

Advantages: You can take the item away with you when you buy, they price match local retailers
Disadvantages: returning faulty items is very difficult, very contradictory head office phone advise

...I bought a tv from Comet a couple of weeks ago, and left it in its packaging for a couple of days, whilst I was selling my previous tv. After I'd set up the new tv, all seemed fine, until I started to get an intermitant flickering picture with HDMI sources. I first went into Comet to ask what the prodedure for returning it was, and was told that either an engineer could come to my house and test it, or that I could return the tv to the store, where someone would test it. If it was seen to be faulty, the tv would be written off, and a replacement or refund could be issued. I took the tv back to the store (18 miles away from where I live), and was then told by a lady at the customer service desk that they would have to get an engineer out to the store, and that the soonest he/she would be able to come was 4 days later. Acer Laptop from Comet - Never Ever Again

Advantages: Cheap online price looked like good value for money

Comet delivers the goods

...Comet, Click and Collect??????????????? It's Christmas, the shops are busy work is long, the days are short, so what did I do? I Clicked and Collected, what a shambles. Our son had seen advertised the "Carlsberg Draughtmaster" and put it on his list for Santa. Looking in the stores it's advertised for £119-00 in John Lewis, so decided to look on-line. Comet had it for £99-00 with Click and Collect. I set to work. I clicked, inputted my postcode and it gave me the nearest Comet to me, very close and they had it in stock. Having Clicked and reserved the item on Wednesday they would keep it till 6-00pm the following day. Thursday I set off to collect the clicked item. ...An item (Logitech VX revolution mouse), was ordered on Thursday. It was supposed to arrive on Monday, nothing happened. I send Comet an email in the evening, so they called on Tuesday (next day after scheduled delivery date) saying this product (which was in stock when I ordered and I got all the after-order emails from them) is discontinued by manufacturer. I can't find anywhere that it is, both Logitech and Amazon are selling this mouse as usual. Which makes me think, they also lied to me, and they just simply couldn't restock with a profit on the sale price they had on it. They girl on the phone was really trying hard to convince me, that they can find a replacement for me, even when I said twice that I'm not interested in replacement. Avoid at any cost!...

...Getting really angry right now, I used to work for Comet a few years back and while i was there I bought a 32inch panasonic TV with a 5 year cover, on the 8th of aug it went broke down making it unusable, called the comet repair line and they said someone will be out to in within 5days. so i thought fair enough atleast someone will come fix it. the guy came out and messed about with it and said oh i need to order a part we'll be back out a week today, fine i thought. 6days later I get a call "oh we cant order that part anymore, someone will be out a week today to remove the fault part for repair" and they did! after countless phone calls complaining and such I got a phone call saying no we wont replace the TV and its still going to be another 10days till we repair it. so thats going to be jsut about 2months. Advantages: Saving a few extra pounds

...I recently used Comet.co.uk to buy 3 large kitchen appliances (fridge, freezer and tumble dryer) and also took advantage of their multisave offer online. I only saved about £30 (plus free delivery) by using that, and to be truthful I would have liked to have saved a little more by taking the time to multisae, waqit for an email reply, call them up and be offered a price. I guess if I was good at haggling I could perhaps have got a touch more off the price, but all in all it was a decent deal and among the cheapest on the net, especially given that I wanted them all delivered on the same day, at the same time.
