...leave the flash switched on with my Samsung as it seemed to use it when it wasn't required at all. The Canon seems to produce a nice sharp image in most indoor situations without resorting to using the flash, giving a more natural image. It will use it when needed though. The optical zoom is 3x, not a particularly high number, quite standard on compact cameras. There's a little dial around the button to take a photo, an intuitive place to put it in my opinion. If you're looking to produce some videos for youtube then it does produce high defintion video, but without the optical zoom. You can achieve playback directly to your TV via the HDMI connector on the camera, first time I've seen that feature and a great idea I think. Canon Ixus 100 IS - Small and oh so stylish

Advantages: Small, Stylish, Auto modes work well, Image Stabilization

Canon gadget bag. Excellent camera bag for your canon gear.

Advantages: Big enough for the average user, strong, comfortable to carry, flexible in use.
Disadvantages: More than one very long super-telephoto lens would be more difficult to accommodate.

I have two camera bodies, an EOS 40D & an EOS 50D, not the smallest EOS cameras by a long way, and four lenses, a 10-22mm wide angle, a 17-85mm, a 60mm macro and a 70-300mm tele-zoom, plus a few acessories, which all fit quite easily into it, with room for another lens, lenshoods or a flashgun should I need it. The best camera of them all

Advantages: takes great quality pictures, well made, durable
Disadvantages: more complex to use than modern fully automatic. No longer made

...It may be a few years old now but if you can get your hands on the Canon AE1 Program you will have one of the best all time cameras ever made. It quite simply takes the perfect picture. I recently took mine into a photographers for a service and clean up, the proprietor commented on the excellence of the camera and offered to buy it off me there and then, even an offer of £350 could not persuade me to part with this camera. It is an SLR type 35mm semi-automatic camera over which you have full control of appeture, shutter speed, film speed, flash etc, you are in total control, unlike todays modern fully automatic jobs. Interchangeable lenses make this a superb professional camera, even my brother has offered to buy it from me (he's a professional photographer by trade), but I simply won't be parted from it. Canon IXUS 95 IS: The best amateur digital camera on the market

Advantages: Very high quality pictures for both print and web work.
Disadvantages: The bundled software that comes with it has a very Fisherprice feel about it.

...After reading many reviews on Amazon and amateur camera sites about the different types of hobbyist level digital cameras, I decided to buy one of these. The camera itself has a metal casing and so has a sleek feel and look to it. It's very light weight and compact making it very easy to carry around in a handbag or while, (and most importantly) taking pictures! I found that it took only 5 - 10 minutes to get the camera working from out of the box. It was so simple, I didn't take that much notice of the manual. When starting up the camera, it isn't slow like they digital cameras of yesteryear. Its ability to capture anything in an instant is one of it's many advantages. The photos it and you produce are very high quality, as I found out the other day when I had some printed off at home. The only downside is the bundled software...

A water resistant camera that isn't yellow!

Advantages: Pictures from where you have never taken pictures before.
Disadvantages: "APS" = Ain't Perfect Sharpness...

...more from the negative. I didn't think this would be a problem but it is definitely noticeable. Also, although the APS format provided a great alternative to 35mm when it first came out, it is nowhere close to giving the same flexibility as a digital camera in terms of cropping and resizing images. Negative points: "Tough and robust" it may be, but I did eventually manage to break mine, something shaking loose inside leaving all my photos half-in and half-out of focus. This was repaired by Canon but cost almost as much as a new camera would have done. Summary: I think if I were to buy a new camera now I would wait until a digital waterproof version was released. Waterproof cameras are great, and I do not regret buying this one, but I think the limitations of APS compared to digital would make this product a poor choice as soon as...

...This is a smart little APS camera (Advanced Photo System) this basically means that you can take different size photographs. The way it works is you have to change the size by sliding a switch to the desired size such as (P) Panoramic, (C) Classic or (H) H print which is in between. After you do this you can see the new size through the viewfinder. A useful tip is that the clever APS film allows for you to choose at the time of printing what size you would like your prints to be. For example if you have taken many different sized pictures you may want to print them the classic (6x4 inch) size which would be cheaper than panoramic prints. Also if you have taken a picture the classic size you can still print that picture panoramic and get extra details that you would not see if printed classic size. The best camera I have ever used

Advantages: Size, portability
Disadvantages: Too easy to forget to change format of photos back

...I was given this camera as a gift about two years ago and can honestly say I have never used a better one... In all the time I have had it, it has been so 'idiot proof' that I have been unable (despite valiant attempts!!) to take a 'bad' photo... It is sooo small that it fits neatly into handbags, pockets etc, and yet has an amazing array of features.... I love the fact that the flash takes only a few seconds to load up, so you can take several photos in quick succession... I also love the zoom lens feature that is very easy to manipulate and use... I also like the warning lights that warn you if you are taking the photo wrongly.... Again, before I had this camera, I had quite a few run-ins with cameras, ie, I would spoil rolls of film trying to load them it, and also load used film in and take an entire roll of 'double' photos...
