...This is the second IXUS camera that I have owned. I bought my first IXUS on recommendation from a friend who had recently purchased one and bought my second IXUS based on my own personal experience with the IXUS camera's - they are outstanding! Advantages: The images produced by the camera are very sharp and the focus is always very accurate in relation to other compact digital camera's. Canon IXUS 95 IS: The best amateur digital camera on the market

Advantages: Very high quality pictures for both print and web work.
Disadvantages: The bundled software that comes with it has a very Fisherprice feel about it.

The camera itself has a metal casing and so has a sleek feel and look to it. It's very light weight and compact making it very easy to carry around in a handbag or while, (and most importantly) taking pictures! High quality compact digital camera

Advantages: Small, lightweight, great quality pictures, very durable
Disadvantages: Picture quality when filming movies is not that great

...This is the first and only digital camera I have owned and it has worked fantastically well for me. I have to admit to not knowing much about photography but this camera has been very easy to use and allowed me to take some great quality pictures. I have owned it for 2 years now and took it with me whilst backpacking around the world for a whole year. During that time it has continued to function well in all sorts of conditions, from -10 snowy weather whilst snowboarding, to +40 degree weather on beaches in SE Asia. The only problem I have with it now is a strange noise from the zoom lens but that is due to me getting sand in it after sandboarding in Peru so it has taken a lot of abuse and continued to work which is amazing! It is very light and small and therefore perfect for travelling with or slipping into your pocket for use...

The Abbie Proof Camera!

Advantages: Keeps kids amused for ages, great range of features, very tough and durable

Review of Fisher-Price Digital Camera

So glad to be back to a Canon!

Advantages: Small, tough, simple and fast to use
Disadvantages: A little expensive

...and I am still pleased with my purchase. Summary I'm realling enjoying using the Canon and it lives in my pocket most of the time now, before my camera would always be in a jacket pocket or a bag somewhere. It's not the cheapest of compact digital cameras and I have no idea if it is significantly better than others, but it's a real improvement over previous cameras for me and it seems to suit my needs. Of course if you are going to do some serious photography then please read some information from somebody that knows about these things :-) (also posted on dooyoo)...

Advanced and good value for money digital camera

...I bought this camera from marks and spencers for £279.99. This camera is great due to all the features that it has. It has a great 12x optical zoom, which even at 9x or 10x zoom, the pictures look quite clear and well taken photos. It has a good image stabilisation feature which allows you to take photos even if the object of person is moving very fast. Its battery life is quite good compared to most ordinary cameras which allows you to take 250 photos on average. It is a 10.1 megapixel camera which has a very high number of pixels for each picture, and I can say this is definitely so when I upload my pictures onto my laptop as the pictures are VERY clear and they still look good when zoomed in by half the size of the picture....

Canon Ixus 850 IS Compact Digital Camera

Advantages: Stylish Design, Great photo results and good features

...Great Compact, Stylish with a good set of features. I bought this camera about 2 years ago and have never regretted speding teh approx £230 for it. At the time that was a great price online but I'm sure you can get other better models in the Ixus range for cheaper now. I've managed to combine it's use from holiday snaps abroad to trying some more creative amateur shots. It has a great deal of functions including some which you won't find in some of it's rivals. E.g. the wide angle lens allows you to shoot in widescreen shots, particularly useful for group shots or landscapes. You can also use colour select mode which allows you to shoot a picture with only one colour showing up e.g. good for capturing flowers etc. Colour replace allows you to replace colours. This allows you to get creative with just a small amount of skill...
