Great business machine

Advantages: small form factor, cheap, fast, reliable, good support
Disadvantages: lack of space to upgrade

...When Compaq was bought out by HP, there was some concern as to the loss of the Compaq brand and a reduction in quality of desktop and server machines. I am pleased to say that this has not happened. The Compaq Evo D510 is a worthy machine and packs a lot of power into a small space. The basic specs of the machine are: 2.4GHz Pentium 4, 256MB, 40GB, CD-ROM, onboard sound, AGP Video, LAN, Modem, black case, TFT monitor Available from £600+vat (even PC World are keeping prices on this quite low) the machine definitely has a lot of features for the price. Although not designed as a gaming machine, the PC will perform (though you may want to change the graphics card for the more demanding games). The machine comes with a return to base warranty and this is a good all round solution for most people. If you want to upgrade...

Compaq D510 - solid corporate PC

Advantages: Flexible, Robust, Easy to service
Disadvantages: No USB ports on front

...As with many Compaq models you have the option of setting up your PC as a tower or dektop, and this Evo is one. In addition, you are also able to change the position of the CD/DVD & Floppy drives as required. So whether the case is standing on edge or lying on its side, the CD-ROM and DVD drives have their typical horizontal placement. HP also includes an extensive array of sophisticated manageability tools for system administrators, the Intelligent Manageability software suite encompasses tools for such remote management activities as system diagnostics via a Web browser, system wake-up, and the ability to disable USB and serial ports and to lock down the BIOS to secure boot-up sequences. The keyboard has programmable hot-keys for accessing the Internet. The base configuration of the D510 has integrated graphics. And for businesses...

Compaq Evo D510

Advantages: Small Form Factor but still space inside
Disadvantages: Cabling can be tight

...We have 800 of these and so far they have been great. Reliability wise we have only had a few problems over the last 2 years where a couple of power supplies have popped. Do not be scared of the small form factor - these boxes can still hold extra stuff. We had quite tight requirements for the boxes we needed. Basically, we wanted to add an IDE Raid card, an extra hard disk, and 1GB or RAM. All of this was possible inside this tiny box. The floppy can be removed as not many people use them these days, and in its place you can install another hard disk. The case does have the opening for the floppy on the front, but it doesn't look bad. As I mentioned in the title, the box can be tight for cabling, but you'd expect that for the size. The only annoyance with the box is the mechanism for lifting the drives. Removing the case...

Ultra Slim And Sexy

Advantages: Easy to use, Reasonable price, Great features
Disadvantages: buttons can be sensative

...I've only had this phone for two days and i'm already in love with it! I chose this phone because i really do like the Samsung phones I think they are very easy to use, stylish and have many features that all phones should include. Price, Packaging and Phone I bought my U600 for 150 pound, It was brand new and came in a orange box although it is open to all networks, in the box it included, ear phones, USB cable and CD installion aswel as the manuals and a charger. The phone itself is a stylish ultra slim greyish blue phone with touch sensitive menu buttons and answer buttons. The navigator is raised and not touch sensitive as this prevents it going back to the phones menu like it does with the E900. The phone is a sliding phone and when slid up it opens up the keypad which is a flat smooth keypad. The Features The menu...

Compact Compaq

Advantages: Reliable, quiet and space-efficient.
Disadvantages: Not much room for expansion.

...When I got my D510 a few months ago, more or less everybody in the office had a comment to make. Mostly along the lines of "That's cool isn't it?" or "How come you get all the best stuff?". To answer the second question, that's because I work hardest of course - but that's not important right now. What is important is that the enormous, noisy off-white monolith which used to dominate both my desk and my field of vision has been replaced with a tidy little piece of desktop art which, as well as looking good, has caused me the least trouble of any of the many PC's I've worked with. I'm a programmer and spend all of every working day with my computer, so without the right tool the job doesn't get done. This model isn't the most poweful in terms of processor speed or memory, but XP seems to love it and they get along famously. Here...

MY FAVOURITE PC

Advantages: Sleek Look, Very Good Spec, Easy to store,
Disadvantages: Not a games machine

...In Late July 2003 I got a new job at an IT reseller so understandably a home computer was now essential. As with any big purchase I shopped around and looked at the competition e.g. Dell, Tiny etc. As my parents had brought a Packard Bell seven years previously I gave PC World a wide berth knowing they were overpriced and the machines were sub standard. Eventually one of my colleagues recommended a company that supplied many offices (www.microwarehouse.co.uk) and as luck would have it they had a sale at the time. After browsing their stock list I eventually opted for a desktop Compaq EVO D510 with a Pentium 4 Processor, the cost of the base unit was scarcely believable at just £389. I also brought a 17 Inch monitor and an internal modem. The total cost was a bargain at just £608 Inc VAT. The basic specifications of the machine...

Compaq Evo N600c little soldier!

Advantages: Durable, loads of fixes on the hp site, quite nifty for its age
Disadvantages: just getting on a bit

...Hi and welcome to my review of the Compaq Evo N600c. Please look for my video review which should be up in the next few days or so. This item isnt available new, but is well worth a purchase second hand. As with all my reviews, items are used in the most demanding places around the world, they dont always survive, but this little baby has done me proud. Without any replacement parts (Not even a battery!) it has survived in several continents and in extreme temperatures and conditions (see below) The Compaq N600c is a hard wearing reliable laptop that can easily kick the rear end out of even the newest of models. Its construction is fantastic, meaning that even when dropped, it usually survives! All bits and bobs can be pulled out and replaced with ease, i.e. the DVD can be removed, and replaced with a floppy, the Hard...

PS3 slim

Advantages: Blu-ray, free online, nice extras like vidzone & iplayer. Almost silent operation
Disadvantages: Rubbish controller, still expensive, online nowhere near as good as xbox live

...Well, had the slim for a few weeks now (my 1st ever playstation), personally, I'm a little underwhelmed by it, I've been a gamer since the nintendo game & watch days & owned @ least 1 of the current gen consoles since the Mega Drive(Genesis). Graphically the system has the potential to wipe the floor with the 360, but this is really only going to apply to PS3 exclusives as any software house making a multi-platform game is going to be as cost effective (lazy) as possible & use the same graphics on all the games where possible(ok, they need to dumb them down for the Wii). My problem here is that I have yet to get a game for it that runs in 1080P, they all seem to be in 720P! Why???? I'm sure they are out there, but I haven't found one yet. I guess this is down to most HD tv's being HD ready rather than Full HD. Sound-Yeah, ok...

Compaq Evo D310

Advantages: Fairly fast not bad memory size
Disadvantages: Pricey and only a small monitor ....

...O.k this hot looking package has a black and silver mini tower and is really good for use in an office. It comes with a matching keyboard that?s really slim and stylish. The key board comes with several hot keys that you can programme to open up your email or favourite websites. The package also includes a black and silver S5500CRT monitor. I found the PC to be pretty easy when setting up and ive had some 'gone wrong' incidents where i made use of a good recovery disk that was included to reinstall my operating system and erase the problem. The babe comes with a 2.4 GHZ Intel Pentium 4 central processor unit and a decent amount of 256MB SDRAM (Although a bit more would be better, also static ram is not as good as DDR dynamic RAM). The monitor has a high resolution despite its size and gives out good colours with reasonable graphical...
