Advantages: natural remedies, good at any age Disadvantages: not to consider as a sole treatment
...I first used this alternative (alternative is not the right word, complementary is more suitable) medicine for strong migraines and period pains and they always have an excellent effect on me where normal medication would not do any single difference. I have been suffering from migraine for over 15 years now and despite taking several medication I still was in a bad physical state.
One day my doctor, also fed up to see me like that, worded out Homeopathy. I was not familiar with this new concept to me so he explained me the possible effects and the way it works.
To be honest I haven’t memorised every detail but I suppose the more important is my strong headaches are significantly reduced.
I also gave dissolving homeopathic tablets to my daughter who was suffering from teething pains. I can tell you nights since then have...

Review of Homeopathy Belladonna
Advantages: Very effective for dry skin and chapped lips Disadvantages: Initial cost and strange smell
...'s grazed knee!
However, before I get too carried away, there is a warning on the tube not to apply the cream to puncture wounds, infections or lacerations. I got some on a deep cut by mistake once and whilst there was a slight stinging sensation it easily washed off and there was no further stinging.
One downside for me though is the smell, which seems more medicinal than cosmetic and took me a while to get used to. I also find the colour slightly disconcerting - a strange peachy/brown - although it appears clear when you apply it. Although it calls itself a cream, its consistency and texture are more like a gel and as such I find it a bit off-putting applying it to large areas of skin (eg using it as a moisturiser) and prefer to use it on smaller "problem" areas.
The initial outlay on a 50 ml tube is around £17 which sounds a lot...
Advantages: Fun for small children Disadvantages: Lacked a certain sparkle that other Dahl books have
...An extract for George?s Marvellous Medicine was in a Roald Dahl Anthology that I was privileged to own when I was younger and was one of the things within it that I really liked reading. Because of this I was quite pleased when I discovered that my brother had the book in his Roald Dahl box set.
The book is like most of Roald Dahl?s offerings rather simple and easy to read. The story is rather vibrant and entertaining and the covers of the book can merely contain the colourful characters bursting to get out. The book itself was first published in 1981 and is not too long a read, coming in at 104 pages long in my copy, which is a Puffin edition, published in 2001. Despite saying that this book is 104 pages in length, not all of these pages contain writing and some contain only a minimal amount, as the story is accompanied by some...
...?George?s Marvellous Medicine? was the first of Roald Dahl?s stories which we read to our eldest son. It?s the story of a little boy who has a real stinker of a grandmother. She?s rude and scary and bosses him around all the time. One day George?s mum and dad have both gone out, leaving him alone with his Grandma. George has had enough of Grandma bullying him and so decides to cure her of her cantankerous behaviour with a special potion, which he?ll give her instead of her usual medicine.
He finds an enormous saucepan in the kitchen and lugs it all around the house, essentially putting in a bit of everything he finds [lipsticks and canary seed included!]. He even makes sure he adds some brown paint so that it is the same colour as Grandma?s real medicine! He then boils it up to make sure that everything?s nicely mixed together before...
...George lives on a farm with his mother, father and grandmother, George is a nice boy but he cant stand his Grandma and who can blame him she is the most rude and nasty woman you could ever imagine.
Georges parents go out for the day leaving him at home to look after his Grandma, all morning his Grandma keeps threatening to tell his parents he is naughty if he forgets to do anything for her.
George decides to get his own back on her and makes a medicin potion using all the tablets and chemicals he can find around the house and farm.
At 11 am it is medicin time for grandma, George gives her some of his potion and she begins to grow and grow and grow untill she is as big as the house with her head sticking through the roof.
Mom and Dad return and are angry at George, Dad uses Georges medicin on the animals on the farm to...
Advantages: Cracking, melodic rock music Disadvantages: Unheard of by many
..."Distortion", "Understand" and "Dave You Were Right" suggest and highlight a band extremely keen on melodic rock music - something caught between REM and Bush, as well as Idlewild and the Manic Street Preachers thrown in there - which is no surprise then that Eringa produced this album considering his previous work.
Tracks such as title track "My Medicine" instantly back-up such the similarities with REM - especially the vocal consistencies of REM's Michael Stipe and Wilt's Cormac Battle; there's an uncanny resemblance after a couple of listens.
"Take Me Home" was another single off the album, or so my basic research shows, which is surprising for me, as I feel it's style is somewhat "off key" compared to other tracks, such as the other single "Distortion". The slight distorted vocal effects don't work for me, and although the powerful chorus...
...Here's Health magazine has got to be the best magazine for alternative / complementarymedicine/therapies. Each month it deals with a wide range of therapies and conditions that can be helped by holistic practices. Recent issues, for example, covered subjects such as candida, headaches, asthma and ways to beat stress. The articles are always well-researched, informative and are packed full of useful resources and follow-up details. A resident panel of experts is also available in each issue and you can guarantee their advice is on the ball. Overall, it's a great magazine - well worth the price and well worth the read!...

Review of Here's Health
Advantages: great medicine for a sick child with a high temperature or minor pain, cheap, sachets are great too Disadvantages: rather bright pink colour, very sticky and syrupy
...Calpol is one of the most useful things for parents. It is liquid paracetamol, and a wonderful medicine that can be used for children with high temperatures, colds, headaches, teething pains and so on.
It is suitable for babies from three months of age, although it is often suggested for babies aged two months who have just had their MMR vaccinations. But as they get older, the strength seems to diminish and I would recommend buying Calpol Six Plus for older children.
Calpol is a pink colour and very sticky, but all children seem to like the taste, which is important. A sugar free version is available too.
The box of Calpol sachets is also very useful, especially for when you are out and don't have a 5ml measuring spoon to hand ! The sachets contain the right amount for the dose, so can be administered directly from...

Review of Calpol Medicine
Advantages: Pushing the boundaries of Indie rock Disadvantages: Definately caterting to the niche market
...then having left the student world behind and making the most of gig opportunities in the capital. I was still impressed - and I still thought they sounded like My Bloody Valentine. The lead singer Beth did look a bit scary though, I'm sure she glared at me a couple of times. With the Valentine's recent announcement of new material and gigs, I thought it was worth revisiting this under-rated band, probably not well known even to the usual suspects from early 90s Indie circles.
MEDICINE
Formed in 1991 by guitarist Brad Laner, Medicine's sound was akin to that from across the pond to bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Ride and Chapterhouse. If anything, their feedback sound was harsher and more industrial in my opinion; the UK bands tried to sweeten the feedback up a bit, but Medicine turned up the metallic sounding notch to 11 out...
...This review is based on my partners experiences. She wants me to write this to let people know that there are alternatives out there that work.
The decision to try Chinese medicine was prompted by events that started just over a year ago.
In February 2003 My partner became very ill with depression;a condition she has suffered from for many years.
There will be those of you reading this who will know exactly how it affects you,and there will be those who do not.
For those who do not, depression is an illness. Most people,at one time or another, have bad days-even bad weeks. They may say that they are depressed but they are not suffering from true depression.
Imagine,if you will,having any or all of the following symptoms for days,weeks even months at a time;
Panic Attacks:
The mere thought of going out of the house,or maybe even...
