...Having been a customer from PC World I can say without a doubt that they really are a rip off. I bought a PC from them back in 1997, after months of arguments with them. The PC I wanted was unavailable, so I asked them to reserve when it came into stock. They did this, but they reserved the wrong model. It was only when we arrived at the store, a 20-minute journey by car that we found out that they had reserved the wrong model and the model I wanted was out of stock. They assured me that this was a genuine mistake and that they would order me the PC I wanted and reserve it as soon as it came in. The PC arrived, but when we arrived, they had given the monitor away and were willing to give us the display monitor from the showroom with a discount of a measly fifty pounds. Childhood Memories In The Disney Store

Advantages: Special products, great for children, good quality and nice staff
Disadvantages: A lot of impulse buying

...The Disney Store is a shop that sells Disney merchandise. There are Disney Stores across the UK and indeed across the world. There are Disney Stores in Disney World and Disney Land. If you have never been in a Disney Store you will be amazed at the different types of products that are usually always in stock. Although I must say I think you either love or hate the Disney Store. My husband doesn't understand the appeal of purchasing a Disney character bear for £20 when you can buy another bear somewhere else for half the price. I think if you have been brought up to watch Disney cartoons then you have an automatic liking of Disney. My boyfriend joked (well at least I think he was joking) that my eyes lit up when I saw the store, because it was one whole penny cheaper than shopping in Poundland. Advantages: Its a real experience

...Did my daughter need a new hard disk or not? The answer was yes and I'd left it too late to get one by mail order. But a quicj check on the PC World website told me that the in-store price of a 80Gb disk was £70. Somewhat expensive! But wait, they have that area with OEM versions. Let's have another look at the website. Ah, there is the hyperlink to the Component Shop. Oh look, another window but there is the hard disk at only £44 in a brown box. That'll do. So off I toddle on Friday lunchtime to buy the disk (needed to be fitted at the weekend). But wait, what's this? £54 not £44 - blow that - but I need it - so I get it. I though t I'd contact PC World to complain and guess what. The PC Component Centre in the shop has nothing to do with the PC Component Centre website that the PC World website links to. Pocket sized portability with the Asus Eee Pc 701

Advantages: Price, size, portability
Disadvantages: Processor power, memory capacity

...The ASUS EEE PC 701 model is an extremely affordable, small and portable netbook with a 7" screen and built in wifi card designed primarily for internet use. The standard model comes with a built in 2 gigabyte solid state hard drive and comes in a variety of colours and finishes ranging from matt white through to pastel pink. The white ones are probably your best bet as in my opinion they are slightly more stylish, echoing shades of the Macbook Air. Occasional sales can prove very good value indeed Opinion I bought my PC from the PC world online store. I have been very happy with it since, and the price I paid was significantly lower than I could find anywhere else. The service from the call centre was good and the machine was delivered on time. Another benefit is that if anything goes wrong with it, I can take it back to the retail store to be looked at. I would advise people to watch out for PC World's hard sell tactics for their extended warranty, which may not be the best possible option, but I think I probably saved myself £250 or so, buying a PC in September of 2000 for £800 in total. Great Value General Store

Advantages: good prices, good value , good range

...There are not too many General Stores about these days but one that stands out for quality and value is undoubtedly Wilkinsons mor affectionately known as WILCO'S. Here you will find a whole range of goods from household cleaning materials to bubble bath and gardening products to pet food. In fact you can buy just about anything for the home, family or garden from here. Wilkinson's can be compared to how Woolworth's were a few years ago and shopping there is a truely pleasurable experience. I regularly purchase goods from them and have no complaints about the quality or price. They are competetive in price with other local retailers and you will always find a bargain there. Wilkinsons stores are springing up all around now, until they built their Chelmsford Store friends of mine regularly made the trek to Harlow to shop...

The Disney Store

Advantages: Great for all ages and a wide range of products

...I have loved going into the Disney Stores since I was young and, as I am now mid-30's (not revealing my exact age here!), just proves that the magic of the Disney store is for the whole family. There is not a Disney store where I am, they are mainly around the larger cities - near me (I live in Scotland), I think the closest shops are in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Pre-children, I always loved going to the Disney store whenever I visited Glasgow or Edinburgh and I would buy things to put aside for friends' children for Christmas and birthday presents.
