Written by Ron White and superbly illustrated by Timothy Edward Downs and Stephen Adams, Que's How Computers Work, Millennium Edition is reminiscent of those books published in the 1980s for wannabe computer geeks, which have long since disappeared. But this millennium edition is one that should long have a place in every computer user's bookcase, to satisfy those moments of intense curiosity.White does not shy away from the complexity of the technology behind the modern computer, its software and its hardware. The book deals almost exclusively with desktop boxes, rather than the other applications in which computers are used (car radios, dishwashers, mobile phones and the like).Ideas are explained skilfully and the text is cleverly integrated with graphics and diagrams, so that even hard-to-grasp ideas like compression and disk structures can be easily digested. Unlike its 1980s predecessors,How Computers Work covers the cutting edge of technology, with everything from DVD to CD-R and modems to multimedia. --Josh Smith

The book introduces a hot topic of novel and emerging computing paradigms and architectures -computation by travelling waves in reaction-diffusion media. A reaction-diffusion computer is a massively parallel computing device, where the micro-volumes of the chemical medium act as elementary few-bit processors, and chemical species diffuse and react in parallel. In the reaction-diffusion computer both the data and the results of the computation are encoded as concentration profiles of the reagents, or local disturbances of concentrations, whilst the computation per se is performed via the spreading and interaction of waves caused by the local disturbances. The monograph brings together results of a decade-long study into designing experimental and simulated prototypes of reaction-diffusion computing devices for image processing, path planning, robot navigation, computational geometry, logics and artificial intelligence. The book is unique because it gives a comprehensive presentation...
Advantages: cheap, plenty to choose from Disadvantages: staff seem miserable
...Claire's accessories is a shop for the females. It's mainly young children and teenagers that shop here but you do find older women here too.

...I know a lot of people that when you say Claire's Accessories they would say oh that shop for teenagers but it isn't for them only, it's for girls in general. Females I should maybe say it sells a lot of things that are not too expensive but very nice still. From the branches I have been in I have seen them sell make-up, nail accessories, bags, books and so many things.
This shop is not only...
Advantages: Great store, helpful & friendly staff, lots of choice, good prices. Disadvantages: Very small!
...My review on Claire's is based on my local store in Harlow, Essex.
Claire's is a store which is normally quite small in size (600 square foot on average) and specialises in female related accessories such as bags, shoes, scarves, hair clips, headbands, bobbles, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, toe rings, costumer jewellery etc and the average store stocks around 5000 products at any one time...
