A great conference venue but not ideal as a hotel

Advantages: Good rooms, well organised conference facilities
Disadvantages: If you aren't there for a conference, you could feel very 'left out'.

...I'm a member of an industry association that holds a two day meeting every year in spring and we move the venue around between different hotels, typically in the Midlands. Last year we were in Rugby at the Dunchurch Park which had excellent conference rooms but dreadful accommodation. This year, the organisers found a new place for us to use - Ettington Chase near Stratford upon Avon. I travelled down from the North West on the day of the conference and my sat nav had no problems finding the hotel. When I pulled off the road into the car park I found a very beautiful old building that looked like a Victorian vicarage but was completely swamped by the size of the new wing. A hotel with a great location, great view

Advantages: great location, great view
Disadvantages: room is a little bit old, not best for money choice

...I have been to this hotel on August 26, 2007. It has a nice location,just on the most attractive street, Robson street, namely in the heart of Vancouver. Definitely a downtown hotel, where has a colorful night life. On the both sides of the street are full of bars, restaurants, shops. It is one of the best place to enjoy oriental food there, Japanese food, Thai food, Chinese food, Korean food. Short walking distance to the famous Stanley park. Aslo the largest shopping malls are on the opposite site of the Stanley Park. Great location. As for the building itself. An magnificient view from out side. Especially when you are on one of the top floor, you can overview the whole Vancouver. Great view. Some disappointments: the room is a little bit old, not as modern as you expect from outside....

Bouncy beds in Kamloops

Advantages: Good hotel and conference centre in downtown Kamloops

...took the lifts and others the stairs and we were soon in our comfortable bedroom. There were 98 bedrooms and suites, some of the two bedroomed suites will sleep up to 6 people, useful for families. There is wireless internet throughout the hotel and this is especially useful as it is a conference hotel with several large meeting rooms. Bedrooms We were on the De-luxe floor, the bedroom was bright and airy with a view of the distant hills and parts of the town. There were two queen sized beds (with 850 coil count, I take their word for it, I didn't count them!) with the lovely pillow top mattress covers, and beautiful white cotton duvet covers, which I noticed in the information you could buy to have the same quality linen at home! The throw was in gold velour and gold covered cushions. The curtains were heavy gold patterned...

Norbreck Castle Hotel

Advantages: Out of the town
Disadvantages: Too many people!

.... There was a charge for this. The hotel has many conference suites available for hire, although some of these were being upgraded at the time of our visit. All areas of the hotel, that I went in, were easily accessible for the disabled. They did seem to cater well for this group. My youngest daughter had never been able to ask so many people why they were in their wheelchairs, one young lad was especially pleased that she spoke to him. I enjoyed the experience and hopefully now that it is under the new management the hotel will continue to thrive....

Hotel International

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

Similarly to my previous stay, I had notice that the Hotel seems to be advertised much cheaper on accomodation websites compared to near enough all other places to stay in prague. getting to the accomodation The details of getting to prague town centre are covered in my previous prague accomodation review, and whilst this accomodation is not as easy to get to location wise, a tram journey needed to get the accomodation from one of the central location's of prague town centre. booking process I booked this accomodation using a third party reservation booking website and paid around seventy euros...

Aston Hotel, Darlington

Advantages: Large Rooms, Power Showers, Free Wifi...etc
Disadvantages: None!

...off the motorway, so it was very handy as you can get anywhere very quickly. I would like to add that I could not hear the motorway throughout all of my trips at night. There is a petrol station and a McDonalds on the same site as the hotel, but they are not next door and in my opinion were not an issue at all. The Hotel: The Aston is part of a chain, with 4 hotels dotted around the north of England and Scotland. The entire hotel is furnished to a high standard, everywhere is carpeted and is always spotlessly clean. The reception is on your right as you walk through the automatic sliding doors, and there are always people on reception to help and swiftly check you in and out. ...I recently stayed overnight at the chine hotel in Bournemouth whilst in the area for a friends wedding. It is currently rated as a three star hotel, but I cannot for the life of me see why as I found it to be of at least four star standard. There are 86 rooms, all of which incorporate an en suite bathroom and are decorated to a decent standard. All rooms include a hair dryer, trouser press, direct dial telephone, satellite television (selected channels only) and the complementary tray of tea, coffee and biscuits. There are four types of rooms available in relation to the view they offer the guests. The basic room is an inland room, then there is a garden facing room and finally the sea views and sea views with balcony (the prices are slightly higher for these). Advantages: Close to beach, nice rooms and pleasant staff.
