...Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club 'A good walk spoiled' is how one man once described golf but he was obviously a fool as there are few better ways to pass the time than by playing this most majestic of sports. In my part of the world we are spoilt for choice when it comes to courses and there are ones to suit all standards and pockets. Chelsfield Lakes is a pleasant pay and play course that will satisfy most golfers from beginners to good players. Very low handicappers may not find it enough of a challenge but for us mere mortals it has more than enough to keep us interested without ruining our confidence. The lakes of the title is bit misleading as there are only two on the course. Disadvantages: the lowest iron is a 5 iron

Advantages: Unusual but good well thought out story

I found it well thought out and certainly very different from what I was expecting. It was a good mystery that leads the reader down an avenue you would not expect, certainly when you read the summary of it. Confidence: Grifters galore

Advantages: Standard fare for genre, good plot twists at end, solid performances all round

...Confidence (James Foley, 2003) is a slick crime thriller in the style of the Ocean's Eleven films or The Thomas Crown Affair. It takes a slightly 'grittier' look at the subject, but still contains enough plot twists to keep you guessing (and give you a sore head on the first few watches!) and manages to be an enjoyable grifter romp. Story: The story follows a group of confidence tricksters, or grifters as they are called in the film, as they try to avoid getting arrested, or worse, killed, for stealing money off the wrong person. Advantages: Ed burns is tasty
Disadvantages: everything else

...this role. Confidence was trying to be something it wasnt and it tried really hard to be that something. I also think that they wasted the talents of Dustin Hoffman and Andy Garcia who are excellent actors in their own right. Dustin Hoffman's character was odd and quite creepy and Andy Garcia is introduced into the film quite late on and looked so grubby I didn't even realise it was him until a bit later in the film. Rachel Weisz is ok in this film but she has such a terrible accent that you wish they had just mae her keep her British accent. She doesn't seem to have the sassiness or the style that is required and quite frankly she seemed a lot better in "The Mummy". There have been too many films that have done this type of con with a twist such as "The Usual Suspects", "Reservoir Dogs", "The Grifters" and "House Of Games...

Confide In Kylie

Advantages: Two great albums combined
Disadvantages: The absence of the other 5 brilliant songs

...Kind Of Bliss, and its far more euphoric and has a belter of a lyric written by Kylie. Dreams is dull as all hell and spawned the original title of the 1997 album Impossible Princess. Its as drab a ballad as you've ever heard, but at least has a good grasp of irony. Jump is another trippy slow burning track that doesn't exactly grab you by the throat but more slithers at your taste buds and will eventually pull you in. Drunk is another dance track with attitude as Kylie muses about not being happy until she's drunk and you take all of her. An enticing offer, its another of the most interesting tracks on the album. The album finishes off with the title track, the utterly engaging epic that is Confide In Me. This is the best single Kylie Minogue has ever released, an 8 minute sexy beast that stands head and shoulders above...

Advantages: Superb golf course. Fantastic facilities. Reasonably priced.

The wee lass was in tow, not to play herself, (the course was just a tad too difficult for her) but to drive the ride-on buggy that her old dad had booked to conserve his energy in the roasting temperatures you can get in Rome at this time of year. This was another reason for the early start. At 7.30AM the temperature was a very pleasant 25 degrees centigrade, although it rose to a stifling 40 degrees by the time we finished the round! (That's HOT when you're playing golf, believe me.) ~ ~ The Marco Simone Golf Club and Resort is one of the most luxurious golf and sport complexes in Italy.
