Advantages: A Good Read and Not too Heavy

CONNECT 4 - SIMPLE BUT GENIUS!!

...CONNECT 4 Sometimes the simplest of games give the most pleasure and after playing Connect 4 with my children today I thought that I would review it. THE GAME ITSELF The game is made up of red and yellow counters and a simple blue plastic grid. The game is for two players and each player chooses one of the colours. The object of the game is to then slot the counters in the grid (it houses 42 counters as a maximum) at the top (taking turns) and the first player to get four counters in a straight line wins. The line can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal, but the row must be uninterrupted. Of course, whilst you are trying to get your four in a row, you are at the same time trying to block your opponent from achieving the same thing. ...This is the classic counter game for two players, the aim of the game is for those players to compete against each other taking it in turns to try to be the first to connect four counters together. Players take it in turns to use the yellow and red counters and placing them into the grid to form a straight line of four in a row, vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Who ever gets the four in a row wins the game. Each player takes it in turns and needs to think strategically as to where to put there next counter to help them to get four in a row, but to also think about if they need to block their opponent to stop them from winning the game. CONNECT WITH YOUR FAMILY

Advantages: Great for concentration

...My son dragged this out of the cupboard last night so I thought it would be good to review it today. This particular game we got for him at Christmas but I remember having it many years ago and it is still as much fun now as it was then. Connect 4 is a game of skill and concentration but I do warn you it can cause tantrums too lol. It is designed for 2 players 7yrs and up although if you do have a clever 5 year old there is no harm in letting them have a go. It is part of the MB games range which I really like buying as the instructions as with all MB games are on the the inside of the lid so they cant get lost but to be honest it is a game that is easy to pick up and you won't need the instructions for long. Inside the box is a grid which is placed on a base, the grid has 44 holes in it. Also in the box is 42 counters...

BT Connect for bugger all business

...Oh how I love BT. Rant, rant, you ain't seen nothing yet mate. No I won't rant about it. A simple example of my experience. I have a BT Connect for business account. Now, when I started I had a website hosted in the US for my 'consultancy business' (ie me) and I moved to BT Connect because they were cheaper and looked professional. Sure, I got my website loaded although the structure was a bit dodgy. Sure I had to change the names of all of my web files because of case sensitivity issues (the fault of the writers of UNIX not BT probably). But the service was slow and unreliable and, frankly, a bit pants. Then I thought about adding a second website. So I asked their support. Yes, no problem they said. Second domain, same account, different sites, easy. So I bought a second domain and, guess what, it pointed at the first website...

MAKE THE CONNECTION

Advantages: good cast, great script, car chases
Disadvantages: a bit heavy going at times

..."The French Connection" is probably the most famous and heavily praised of all buddy-cop films. It is an excellent film with much action and dramatic tension. Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider play cynical but determined New York cops out to bust a big heroin ring. Stake-outs and hunches lead to encounters with the criminals, who vary from dangerous assassins to wealthy businessmen to streetwise hoodlums. There is a famous "chase" scene which has Hackman driving a car, recklessly weaving through traffic, following a sniper who has commandeered a train.
