Get Connected

Advantages: Simple to play, bit of luck and skill needed

...No this isn't to do with phones but is another old favourite game of mine from those classic game makers MB. The reason I've been made aware of this game again is thanks to my bloke's father who we recently visited in Yorkshire and who had found it whilst tidying out the attic. He sent it back home with us and we couldn't wait to get it out of the box. When you open the box there is no surprise to see the instructions for this game on the inside of the lid as with most MB games of this era. What a godsend these are when so many other games have been abandoned because of a lost sheet of paper. There are also 42 playing discs split into 2 colours, red and yellow. Advantages: A Good Read and Not too Heavy
Disadvantages: Not an addictive read

...This is the classic counter game for two players, the aim of the game is for those players to compete against each other taking it in turns to try to be the first to connect four counters together. Players take it in turns to use the yellow and red counters and placing them into the grid to form a straight line of four in a row, vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Who ever gets the four in a row wins the game. Each player takes it in turns and needs to think strategically as to where to put there next counter to help them to get four in a row, but to also think about if they need to block their opponent to stop them from winning the game. CONNECT 4 - SIMPLE BUT GENIUS!!

Advantages: QUICK TO SET UP AND QUICK TO PUT AWAY

...CONNECT 4 Sometimes the simplest of games give the most pleasure and after playing Connect 4 with my children today I thought that I would review it. THE GAME ITSELF The game is made up of red and yellow counters and a simple blue plastic grid. The game is for two players and each player chooses one of the colours. The object of the game is to then slot the counters in the grid (it houses 42 counters as a maximum) at the top (taking turns) and the first player to get four counters in a straight line wins. The line can be horizontal, vertical or diagonal, but the row must be uninterrupted. Of course, whilst you are trying to get your four in a row, you are at the same time trying to block your opponent from achieving the same thing. ...I think we can all say that we have played this game at one point in our life, either as a child or with our own children. I perfsonally remember playing it as a child and had hours of fun playing it with my sister, so when my son was old enough I thought it was tiime to introrduce him to the game and he loves it too. WHATS IN THE BOX When you open the box you are faced with a blue grid (very sturdy) comprising of 22 holes and 22 counters (11 red and 11 yellow). It is easy to assemble just lift the grid up and slide it into the base and you're ready to go. THE AIM OF THE GAME Basically just what it says on the box CONNECT 4, the game is for two players, each decides which colour they want to be (its usually a fight in our house to see who wants to be red), then we usually toss a coin to see who is going first and away we go...

Can you connect four

Advantages: Very playable for the younger generations

They are also called different names, this game is also known as: *Connect 4 *Line up 4 *4 in a row ********************MY OPINION********************* Like I said, it is a simple but very playable game. Our kids sit and play for ages at a time with it. The rules are simple to understand and so is the setting up. It is an ideal game for the younger members of the family. I think it is decent value for money, especially if you buy the cheapest version. I personally find it boring after a few games, but I think I'm a little old for it now, so don't let that put you off. If you have kids, they will love it. Thanks for reading :)...
