Disadvantages: Price is always a disadvantage, but not too expensive in this case.

...I write this review from my own experience, I have gone into a corner too fast and left the road. Nothing to do with the tyres, it was all my fault, and I was just glad the tyres were as good as they were, otherwise I may not have been here to tell the tale. I have been driving cars for 32 years and trucks just thirty. I have had a few skids in that time, (before ABS) and think that tyres are more important than steering or brakes. For the first time in my life, I have bought a full set of tyres for my car, and my choice was Continentals. The actual model (Conti Premium Contact) was chosen by my ex boss who is in the tyre trade, and I trust him. Apparently, sales of this range and Thorntons Special Toffee account for almost £80 million of Thornton's sales. It's easy to see why as in my opinion the chocolate are a great quality product with an even better taste. What I like about a box of Continental is that they are quite a posh box of chocolates. They make a great present as they are a bit nicer in my opinion than say a box of Roses or Quality Street...

continental shambles

Disadvantages: rubbish service, delayed all the time, small planes, cramped.

...Back in march I took my first long haul flight to america with continental airlines. I regreted every minute of it. Our flight on the way out was an extra hour on top as it was due to the time zones. But when you looked at the map it looked like we had a drunk pilot. He was all over the place. His take off was poor and way to steep and slow. When he went to land he missed the landing and we had to circle again. When we decending he kept going steep and then he would have to pull up again this went on for about 20-30 minutes. It made everyone feel sick and hurt everyones ears. We had to sit with our seatbelts on the majority of the time. Finally when we landed we were all so glad to have landed on ground but it was too bumpy. suprised we didnt crash. Continental Grand Prix 4000

Advantages: Lightweight and fast, should be hard wearing...
Disadvantages: Expensive, but worth it !

...Just been for my first ride on my new Continental Grand Prix 4000 tyres, and thought I'd let you know about them. I know it's only a first use test, but will update this review when I've had them for a while. Also, I've assumed that if you're reading this, you have some interest and/or knowledge of bicycles. I hope that's OK... Continental have over 100 years experience in the development and production of road and mountain bike tyres, at the Continental Two-Wheel division's technology and development centre in Korbach in Germany. The Grand Prix 4000 road/race tyre is the sucessor to the excellent Grand Prix 3000 that I've had on my bike for 2 years or so. It's a "clincher" tyre (as opposed to a tubular tyre), so should fit most road/race wheels/rims. It was a bit of a narrow decision between these and the Continental Attack...

Toyo Tyres

Advantages: great tyres
Disadvantages: Hard to find

...Toyo are a Japanese Tyre manufacturer that not many people have heard of. Yet to me they are the most sexy looking tyre around, if tyres can be sexy! I mean the tread pattern of course! I had toyos all around on my RS Turbo. The grip level was unreal and the depth of tread great. The tyres on my Tub were standard size 195/50/15's and a tyre that low in profile normally loses a lot of its tread in order to cater for the profile. Not the Toyo. It has a very wide tread pattern. Making a lot of contact with the road while giving it enough play to movce around and keep you stuck down. In the wet, the wide tread allowed the car to tip toe through the water rather than slip and slide through it. They dont just cater for quick cars. You can pick up a nice tyre for your family saloon or hatchback too. The range seems to grow...

Disadvantages: Just the cost.

...I you shop around, at local tyre fitters as well as on the internet, you will find that there are many places selling bargain tyres, but you must pay for delivery, and fitting, and balancing, Oh and the new valve, then there is the charge for disposing of your old tyres. I decided this saving just wasn't worth the hassle. I therefore went to my local tyre fitting centre. My tyre expert is worth his weight in gold, and he runs his hand across the tread before doing anything else. He then knows if the steering geometry is wrong, in some cases it can save premature wear on your tyres, and can save the customer a fortune, never mind affecting safety. Pilot Exalto - The Duracell of performance tyres.

Advantages: Excellent wet performance, Good cornering, Not too noisy, Fantastic wear resistance
Disadvantages: Poor initial traction, take 500 - 600 miles to wear in

All this is well and good, but have I noticed any real difference between the Michelins & the Bridgestones? Yes is the simple answer. In a straight line, from a standing start the Michelins offer considerably less grip. It may be that the water-shedding design sees less rubber on contact with the ground.
