Cookworks Silver Glass Blender
Review of Cookworks Silver Glass Blender by sufisu

Advantages: Easy to clean, cheap and effective.
Disadvantages: Glass jug is quite heavy and sometimes it doesn't blend efficiently

...After my previous, very expensive, blender blew up, I decided to go for a cheaper model and opted for the Cookworks blender with glass jug and, considering it came in at just under £20, it's a very effective blender. This has 2 speeds plus a pulse option. The glass jug is very simple to clean, unlike plastic ones which may be lighter but have the disadvantage of material clinging to the sides. With the glass jug, everything is washed away very quickly. The lid is rubbery/bendy plastic which gives a very tight fit so no chance of the lid flying off and splattering all over the kitchen and the stopper is one of those that is push and twist to secure. Drawbacks are that the glass jug is really quite heavy and obviously breakable if dropped. I use mine for smoothies, sauces and soups and have found that sometimes, even on the top... Read review

Hand Blender by Cookworks
Review of Cookworks hand blender by Deetzyb

Advantages: Does the job at a cheap price
Disadvantages: No beaker with it

...The Cookworks handblender is a cheap and cheerful blender. I bought it for 4.99 from Argos and it does the job. I'm not a great cook or anything. I like to fiddle around in the kitchen from time to time and do a little baking with my two daughters so its a handy thing to have. Since I'm not one for doing fabulous dishes, I didn't want to spending loads on something I'd not use too often. The Cookworks hand blender is white with a royal blue button on it with two speed settings. The button is a touch button type so you press whatever end you need for your chosen speed of blending. It has a detachable head on it for ease of cleaning and is dishwasher safe - an absolute must in my house!! It also comes with a rubber blue hook on the end of it for hanging up when not in use. It is a 220 watt which seems to be somewhere in the middle... Read review

Cookworks glass blender
Review of Cookworks Silver Glass Blender by amyjaney

Advantages: Great value for money
Disadvantages: Doesn't have as many features as some of the more expensive ones

...Very good value for money. I didn't want something cheap looking but also knew I wouldn't use a blender loads so didn't want to spend a fortune. I went for the glass jug and chrome effect and I think it looks just as good as a lot of the dearer ones. Easy to clean, you just rinse it out and then put the blender on with a little bit of clean water in the bottom to clean the blades. I like the fact that the jug is glass not plastic as feels more durable and won't leave any stains behind. I have mostly used it for soups and smoothies and have no complaints. The first time I used it the soup splattered out of the lid with the pressure so I don't fill it too high now and hold the top down with a tea towel. Has two speeds and a pulse button so you can vary accordance to preference.... Read review

Cookworks Silver Glass Blender
Review of Cookworks Silver Glass Blender by mints4merlin

Advantages: cheap, blends most things, easy to clean
Disadvantages: has trouble blending ice, only two speed settings

...This review is for the cookworks silver glass blender for the domestic kitchen. Impressive looking and works well, I'd say it is not a bad purchase at all for just under twenty pounds. With a million uses, we tend to abuse it only for smoothies and the occassional mass houmous making. It is actually capable of blending up many other things including tomatoes, veg etc for making homemade soups. Also the manual says you can make baby food (although thankfully none of us are at that stage in our lives yet - it is useful to know you can save money by making your own). Also fantastic for cheating on baking, especially in the cake and muffin making department when you simply can't beat the akward lumps out of the mix! But of course we are wonderful housewives with exceptional skills at the all in one methond from food tech so this very rarely... Read review

A healthy liquid breakfast for those on the go!
Review of Recipes for Smoothies by Tadders

Advantages: Healthy and filling, quick to prepare
Disadvantages: Messy to make!

...expensive in the shops but do little to stave off your hunger. Since I can't really face cereal or fruit first thing in a morning, a drink of some description seems like the ideal solution, but the range of bottles in M & S and Boots are just too small, not at all filling and too pricey. I got tired of getting the mid-morning munchies and spending over £3 on a smoothie from a shop or cafe (when I knew by 11am I'd have given in and bought a bacon butty anyway), so I decided to invest in a blender and start making these smoothies myself. Obviously, this means that I still have the problem of not being bothered to do this in the morning, but the beauty of smoothies is the fact that you can freeze them and come back to them at a later date, so I can prepare them the night before. I got a really basic Cookworks blender from Argos (which was dirt... Read review

Breville VBL011 Anthony Worral Thompson Blender
Review of Breville VBL011/BL19/BL34 by sparkleclairyfairy

Advantages: Excellent powerful blender
Disadvantages: Very unreliable

...We purchased this blender to make smoothies and vegetable soups. We are on our third blender in 3 months due to various faults. Blender 1. Shorted the house electrics and made a horrible smell Blender 2. The washer which prevents leaks broke Blender 3. The washer which prevents leaks broke and the blades stopped spinning. When the blender works it is very good. The blender is very powerful and blends fruit and ice into great smoothies. When it was working I used the blender everyday. It may be the case that it has only been designed for occasional use. The manual advises that the blades can be easily removed for cleaning. We found the blades stuck fast and it impossible to remove the blades on all 3 blenders we owned. The preset controls make it really easy to use. Its a real shame we can't seem to get a working one... Read review

Braun MR400HC Hand Blender
Review of Braun MR400 Hand Blender by colin272363

Advantages: Cheap and effective, dishwasher safe !
Disadvantages: You will become addicted to making milkshakes

...Fed up of using the knife and chopping board? Want a product that will let you chop / mix and blend almost any thing at ease ? This blender will effectively mix / blend soups, sauces, baby food, mayonnaise, milkshakes and pancake batter. The blender will also chop herbs, onions, chillies, nuts and probably allot more. I normally use my blender to puree soap right in the pan. The blender results with smooth and even blending and has a special shape that allows optimum chopping performance. The soft touch grip handle makes this product really easy to hold and feels comfortable to. I have a Braun MR400HC Hand Blender but with mine i got a high speed chopper attachment, Im not sure if the attachment is included within this particular package though. So i do recommend if you are planning to use your blender to either blend vegetables... Read review

Flour power isn't for me
Review of Morphy Richards 48220WH by rdobbie

Advantages: Great for making dough, good if you've got time and patience, better than more expensive models
Disadvantages: Difficult to achieve correct recipe, paddle leaves hole in loaf, no cheaper than buying bread

...to squeeze the cheapest models to below £40 towards the end of last year. When I saw Argos's Cookworks breadmaker on special offer for £34.99, I knew that I could wait no longer. Like a good boy I checked the Which reports to see that I wasn't getting a duff model. To my amazement, the Cookworks machine (which is Argos's own brand, I should add), was the Best Buy - beating off stiff competition from deluxe models which cost up to three times as much. When I gave my order slip to the woman at Argos, she said that the Cookworks model shown in the catalogue had been substituted for a Morphy Richards Essentials model which was identical in all but name. Apparently, they came from the same factory and had a different name printed on them. Would I be happy to accept the Morphy Richards model instead? Of course. So I bundled my breadmaker... Cookworks MM 717 AOF Basic but Good
Review of Cookworks MM 717 AOF by gt5952

Advantages: Cheap, functional
Disadvantages: A bit bland in design

...The Cookworks MM 717 AOF is a basic line microwave, and is almost at the bottom of the range of the cookworks appliances. It is a very simple device to use and ideal for those on a serious budget. The front of the machine has the door (Obviously) and two dial controls. One is a timer, the other a power control ranging from just a little zap, to full radiation. When the device is operated, the internal bulb switches on, and the inner plate turns to give even cooking. The door is a simple pull type, which also deactivates the radiation cycle. When open, the cooking plate and turnstyle ring can be removed for cleaning, as can the drive lug for turning the plate. The device gives 700 watts of power when on maximum strength, and can cook for up to 60 minuites with the timer. It takes 240 Volts, but will operate at 110 volts. Less... Read review

Hot and steamy
Review of Cookworks WK8260 by lulujackson

Advantages: Good value for money, beautiful sleek and elegant design
Disadvantages: slightly chunky handle, may be a concern for hand or wrist problems.

...THE COOKWORKS SIGNATURE KETTLE Recently my regular kettle developed a leak so I had to rush out and buy a new one . On arriving home and opening the box I was terribly disappointed with the cheap and tacky kettle I unwrapped, so off I went back to the store and replaced it with the cookworks signature kettle. ON OPENING THE BOX I was definitely more than pleasantly surprised. what a delight to see the sleek smooth features of this shinny new black kettle. The base gave the impression of solid reliability On filling up the kettle I noticed it was wider than expected whilst appearing quite elegant. The water gauge also appeared very attractive. THE FEATURES Max capacity 1.7l Cordless system Water gauge Indicator light Automatic/manual switch off Boil dry protection THE LENGTH OF BOILING TIME when filled to the minimum water gauge...
