Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED a design success.

Advantages: high quality scans, large files, robust and intelligently designed.
Disadvantages: None.

...The Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED is a brilliantly designed multi- format film scanner aimed at professionals but I would seriously recommend it for anyone passionate about photography. It is a joy to use. It scans 35mm, Medium format 120/220, 6x6, 6x7, 6x9 (cm) and 16mm size films. Excellent results with black and white, colour negative and slide film in all the available above formats. The price for the Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED is around £1800 to £2200. Compared to the Imacon range of Flextight scanners which can be anything around £5000 to £12000 the Nikon Coolscan 9000 ED price is instantly more attractive but what about quality? The Nikon Coolscan produces images that are certainly good enough for professional, commercial and archival uses and fine art exhibiting purposes. If you use Photoshop and have a good...

A great scanner - shame about the interface.

Advantages: Superb quality images and amazing ICE dust removal
Disadvantages: Poor user interface & price (especially for the optional APS adaptor)

...I bought this scanner last year, having finally got round to sorting out our wedding photos. We'd decided not to bother with a professional photographer and instead asked everyone to send us the negatives of their own photos. In the meantime, my old 35mm camera died, and I had decided to get a digital camera. What a revelation. I then decided that the only sensible way to sort out and edit our wedding photos was to get the negatives scanned into digital format. After a fair bit of research, I finally decided to get the Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED. All the reviews I read suggested a good balance between cost and performance, and I can confirm this. The scanner cost $1065 or about £600 from a US company called Cameta Camera who were selling the scanner new on ebay. When it arrived, it was very easy to install and get working...

No need for Digital, Film can be seen on PC too

Advantages: Quick and Easy to use
Disadvantages: None

...This device is for anyone using a film camera but want there images on PC without purchasing a digital camera. So you can still use the same camera you have used for all those years. Also with the negatives you have kept from years back you can put them onto PC. Its quick and easy to use, just put the film in and it scans it through. The Nikon Coolscan IV ED offers an ultimate in professional film scanning technology. It is a desktop scanner which offers a super-fast throughput when scanning 35mm strip film or mounted 35mm slides at upto 2900 dpi optical resolution. That means it produces an image on the PC of in excess of 12 megapixels from a 35mm frame, which means you can create an image which can be printed onto an A3 page in full photo quality. Digital ICE technology is built in, it consists of Digital IC (Image Correction...

Lets Slide into Scanning

Advantages: Exceptional Quality of Image, Worth its money
Disadvantages: Takes time to get used to controls.

...The Nikon Super Coolscan 4000 ED is a one of the highest quality slide/film scanners around at an affordable price. It scans at a maximum resolution of 4000 dpi (dots per inch; therefore the higher the resolution the better picture quality) and has many features, which we will look at in more detail. I ordered my Nikon Super Coolscan 4000 ED online at WarnersImaging.co.uk. At the time of purchase, which was February 2003, it cost me £958.81 inclusive of Vat. This was one of the cheapest places that I could find it. I would definitely recommend shopping around though, as some stores were selling it for as high as £1200. THE PACKAGE From WarnersImaging.co.uk I got the following items, but remember that different stores may provide a different package. Its worthwhile emailing them to enquire as to what exactly you get for the price...

How to be popular with all your old relatives

Advantages: Value for money, excellent quality
Disadvantages: Will take up all of your time !

...closely you can tell that it's a scan. Some types of photo's don't work well as prints from scans, but there is no formula, you will have to experiment. Websites ******** There are a couple websites on this subject. Acer's official page is at http://www.acercm.com/imaging/scanwit.html. There is a third-party review and a technical guide at http://www.photoscientia.co.uk/Review.htm Comparisons *********** I believe that the Acer at £300 is excellent value for money. Other scanners which perform in its class are the Canon Canoscan FS2710 (£350), Nikon Coolscan 4 at £600 and Minolta Dimage at £380. Summary ******* An excellent buy and a superb way to turn slides into high quality electronic copies....

The beautiful Mamiya 7 medium format camera

Advantages: High quality images suitable for dramatic enlargements, well made camera and a pleasure to use.
Disadvantages: Could be difficult to use for a complete novice. Expensive though worth every penny.

...once and it now remains mainly as a studio camera. It's the Mamiya 7 every time I leave the house. If you're interested in enlarging your photographs greatly and want superb detail then I would recommend this camera and medium format. Compared to 35mm and the digital equivalent, medium format is far superior in detail and overall image quality. The negative size is 6 x 7 cm which is 4.5 times larger than 35mm negatives. I've enlarged images up to 44 inches wide and detail has been reasonably defined. If you want to convert the negatives to digital then film scanners such as the Nikon Coolscan 9000 ED produce excellent results. And despite the digital revolution there are still a wide range of colour and black and white films available for this camera. It is easy to load the 120 roll film compared to say the Mamiya RZ 67. The large...

Recommended point and shoot

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, cheap and reliable
Disadvantages: Basic specs, no optical zoom

...articles and printed leaflets brochures. At print resolution (300dpi) pictures are pin sharp at A5 size and often satisfactory when interpolated to A4. I am happy to use it as an alternative to my Canon EOS 35mm film SLR camera and a Nikon Coolscan film scanner, equipment that cost around £1200). Unfortunately due to the lack of a zoom lens I am going to have to retire this camera for a more expensive digital but I will be handing it down to my mother who is a complete technophobe. I couldn't imagine a better digital for her. I will be very suprised if she doesn't fall in love with this little camera. Thanks for reading my review, Steve...

Shopping for a Camera? Worth a quick look!

Advantages: Good Prices, Great Delivery
Disadvantages: Limited Information, Variable Product Range

....73 for an Epson yellow cartridge for the Stylus C70/C80 to £29.99 for an Epson Durabrite multi pack. -------------- Scanners -------------- This part of site contains flat bed scanners and dedicated film scanners (as well as some that do both). There are 10 products on sale from brands such as Nikon, Epson, HP and Canon. There is a great divergence on price here: the entry product is a Canon Lide 60 at £58.99, with the most expensive product being a Nikon LS5000 ED Super Coolscan at £699.99 (great name!!) That said, most products are under £200. Yet again, there is limited information on the products. Where information is provided, there seems to be lots of jargon. --------------------- Memory Cards --------------------- The final section of the site contains memory cards. You can search by card type and capacity. Cards from Fuji...
