Advantages: Good location, access to tube station, nice/well looked after hotel

...Getting There: -------------------- The Copthorne Tara Hotel is conveniently situated a short walk (about 5 minutes) from the Kensington High Street Tube station. This means that getting to and from the hotel is quick and convenient. The Kensington High Street Tube Station is part of both the District and Circle Lines, meaning that you can get to many major and convenient locations by jumping on the tube there (including Kings Cross and Victoria stations). Although this was probably bad luck, I do urge you to check that while staying at the Copthorne Tara, the district and circle lines are running as unfortunately during my stay they were under maintenance for 2 of the days. In this case the nearest station was Notting Hill, which was around a 30 minute walk away (not good when wearing high heals to go to the theatre). In terms...

The Copthorne Hotel - Cardiff

Advantages: Lovely lake side view from one side of the hotel
Disadvantages: Located in a very busy area, with many shops around

The hotel although quite new is very traditional in style. To the back of the hotel is a very large lake with ducks and a nice wooden patio overlooking it with plenty of seating. This is just off from the bar area so im sure in the summer months it is very relaxing and peaceful to sit out there and have a drink, however I was unable to do so as it was February and cold! Advantages: Convenient location. Good service. Great food.
Disadvantages: Difficult to criticise. I'd have liked a smoking room!

Copthorne Effingham Park - What's there to say?

Advantages: Cheap, adequate and not badly located for Gatwick Airport.
Disadvantages: Spoilt by the sports bar. All-in-all, it's just nothing special!

...Prior to our recent trip to Prague, in the Czech Republic, we decided to stay at an hotel near London's Gatwick Airport overnight in order to facilitate an early check-in. You get into travel mode, you lose anxieties and you don't spend a lot if you use Priceline. Which is what we did. Searches for a four star hotel proved fruitless. I secretly hoped to net the Hilton (Gatwick South Terminal) or the Sofitel (aka former Le Meridien) at the North Terminal. I lowered my sights to three stars, and was given, in the way that only Priceline can, the Copthorne Effingham Park for UKP 40. A great price. Further research proved that this was, in fact, officially a 4-star hotel. A result. Plymouth Copthore Hotel

Advantages: Great Location
Disadvantages: More of a Good 3* Hotel than a 4* Hotel.

...I have mixed views on the Plymouth Copthorne Hotel. I have stayed here numerous times, and have experienced a variety of services from "average" to "good". There have been times where an issue arose, but this was then sorted out by the front desk staff. Saying that, the issue shouldn't have arisen in the first place. Pro's : Great Location in the center of Plymouth. If you are travelling by train, it is a 3 minute walk away from the station (or a really cheap taxi ride!). The prices - especially for weekend deals - can be competative compared to other hotels / B&B's in the area. They have parking under the hotel for hotel guests...

...Before you shout at me, there are reasons why I came to Birmingham this weekend, and can't make it to the Ciao get together. It was my hubbies Birthday and it was my last saturday for finishing at 2pm. From now on I have to work 9-5 on a Saturday and it would have been big rush to get to Birmingham if I finished at 5pm. It was a last minute decision to go here. On Friday night I had applied for a free cottage from work, but somebody beat me to it, so I decided to go on the internet and search for a bargain hotel. We have already stayed in two hotels in Brummie, and wanted somewhere different. Advantages: Conveniently located for Calais ferries or Tunnel. Very comfortable

Cop a load of this!

Advantages: Right on the quayside, not too far from town, views
Disadvantages: Quite expensive

...(as much as we wanted one) so she had the brainwave of looking for somewhere with leisure facilities, and we wanted to be reasonably close to the action, since we all realised that being stranding 8 miles out of town in an unfamiliar city wouldn't be much fun. Everywhere she found was unable to accommodate more than 2 adults to a room, but we ideally wanted somewhere flexible so that if we ended up with an odd number, we wouldn't have to have one on her own. Plus most places wanted a non-refundable deposit to secure the rooms - which we didn't want to do as circumstances, when it comes to my mates, can change very rapidly and make forward planning a bit of a nightmare! Then she rang the Copthorne Hotel, who told her that yes, they could get three to a room (a twin room with a camp bed), and they wouldn't need to take a deposit unless...

Oh I do like to be beside the Quayside!

Advantages: Views of the Quayside, very friendly

...Last month my husband turned 28. As this was a little traumatic for him (he is edging towards 30 after all!), I planned a birthday trip to Durham, where we both went to uni, to revisit old haunts. We decided to stay in the Newcastle Copthorne (a short train ride away) because back in 1997, just before my graduation, we walked past the hotel and said "Wow, this hotel looks so flash. We must come back and stay here one day!" I booked the best deal I could find which was directly with the hotel and mentioned it was a special occasion. When we arrived (after a short walk from the station), we were pleasantly surprised when the receptionist offered us a welcome glass of Cosmopolitan (a bit warm though!) and told us we had been upgraded to an executive room with access to the business lounge and complimentary continental breakfast...
