...~ ~ Would you like to make perfect backup copies of your precious DVD's? Of course, this is fairly difficult, as these days most all DVD's are heavily encrypted, so unless you're a dab hand at decoding them then it's virtually impossible. I know I've had numerous tutorials from my wife's nephew (who has a degree in Computer Science) on more than one occasion on how to use software like Nero and DVD Decrypter. I was a little grieved to fork out £30 for a program I would be only using once but I was desperate. I found the program really easy to use and once I had copied my old disk onto my new one I was able to remove my old disk. I was left with everything I had before, plus lots of extra space. Advantages: A great tool for copying and backing up your data and documents

...Life before a backup... It still amazes me the number of times I have found people at work who save data on the hard disk of their laptop and seem surprised that if the hard disk crashes or the laptop is stolen there data could be lost. On top of that I can?t even keep count of the number of friends and family members who have turned up at my front door with a computer that no longer works that apparently contained thousands of pictures of their kids, weddings and that unforgettable holiday etc. And I must admit I too have been guilty in the past of not keeping a copy of all my data and nearly lost the contents of a web site once after a virus attack. DVD X Copy Platinum - Not worth the money!

Advantages: Quick DVD9-DVD5 Copying
Disadvantages: Average image quality, NO HELP/MANUAL AVAILABLE!

...Firstly this product is expensive. Secondly, it has no manual or online help facility. Thirdly, the tech support from 321 Studios is shocking at best (do you like being on hold for 45 minutes without hearing a human voice?). So what IS good about it? The product is fast, it rips the DVD to your hard disc in about 20 mins, then burns back to a blank disc in similar time, so within 3/4 of an hour you have a copy......but NOT a perfect copy. Why?.... Firstly it adds a new screen to your DVD so that when you first insert the copy disc it says "DVD Backup Copy" with a load of legal blurb. Secondly, you cannot make a copy of this copy. You can, however, use a program called IFOedit to get rid of this warning screen, so what else makes it impossible to recommend?........ the quality is bad! Its OK for DVD-5 or single layer DVD's ( >4.7GB...
