Coral Bay, Cyprus

Advantages: Very laid back, relaxing, clean beach, good choice of resturants
Disadvantages: Can be too quiet for young people!

...Coral Bay in Cyprus is one of my favourite places in the world. It is the perfect place to go to relax and unwind and you are pretty much guaranteed sunshine. Even now in January the sun is shining and it is 19C! It is a 30-40 minute drive from Paphos airport and very easy to get to, even for a first timer in Cyprus! All the road signs are in English and they also drive on the left like us. Coral Bay is mainly centered along a main strip of bars, resturants and shops. All the hotels and villas are just off the main strip and along the sea front. There is a more laid back feel to Coral Bay than other resorts in Cyprus and even on a weekend night it doesn't feel to crowded. My favourite resturant is the Seriani, the quality is superb and the portions are huge! If you want a drink in the evening Kikos bar is also a place I would...

The Wonders of Coral Bay

Advantages: The sea is a clean clear blue and the weather is fantastic.
Disadvantages: None

...too, especially the supermarket. It is not a place for night life. It mostly caters for families and couples and is generally a quiet place to stay. Generally, I like a quiet and relaxing holiday and that is what this holiday was. There is transport in the form of a bus but this only runs in the day time. I would recommend hiring a car so that you can get around and see more of the fabulous sights of Cyprus. From Coral Bay you can visit Paphos, which is the next major town. There you can visit shops, tavernas and bars. There is a harbour at Paphos where you can take a stroll in the day or night. We sometimes come here and have an ice cream whilst taking a stroll. There is a water park in Paphos too and this is an excellent day out. Of course, the best part is the weather and in June it is still hot but pleasant in the evening...

Perfect for Young Families and Singles Alike

Advantages: Very friendly, sunbeds reasonably prices, lovely weather year round
Disadvantages: Price and beach could be cleaner

...I have holidayed in many places both with and without children and after spending the last three summer's on Coral Bay Beach I thought I would share my experience. Accessibility - Coral Bay is easily accessible by bus from Paphos areas and is 15 minute car or taxi ride from Paphos Harbour. There is plenty of parking and we managed to park practically on the beach every day, we arrived about 10am and holidayed mid September. Value for money - I found the food and drink at the beach bar expensive although the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. One portion of chips was 3 euro, a can of drink 2euro 50, a pizza 6 euro. We took some food and drink to the beach with us every day. We paid for sun beds, they were 2euro 50 for each bed and the same for an umbrella so it cost us 7euro 50 a day for two beds and an umbrella, our...

Review of Coral Bay, Cyprus

Ascos Coral Beach Hotel,Cyprus. One of the nicest hotels.

Advantages: Close to beach, peaceful , no children, close to bars
Disadvantages: Shingle beach by hotel.

...We stayed at the Ascos Coral beach Hotel ,Cyprus, in June 2009. The hotel, during the summer months is for adults only, which if your are on a relaxing holiday makes a big difference. Once you enter the hotel you can notice straight away that there are no children running around, its very peaceful. The hotel is around half an hour drive from the airport at Paphos. It is located on the coast and has a pathway down to a shingle beach which to be honest we did not use as it was a bit awkward to walk along. The shops, not many mind, and the bars are about a five minutes walk. If you want to go to the coral bay beach it would take you around 15 minutes to walk there at the most, and to drive there it would take around 1 minute. The beach does have the usual amenities like being pulled by a speed boat and pedalos. The hotel itself is very...

Ascos Coral Beach Hotel, Cyprus

Advantages: Great location, extensive amount of food and drink available
Disadvantages: Parts of hotel need updating

..., alcohol (local alcohol free only) and ice cream available all day. There are quizzes and pool activities during the day which are quite fun but the evening entertainment is pretty poor. Bingo every night with a jackpot of (drumroll) £10! Once a week the hotel has a casino night which is great, you can play roulette, blackjack, craps or poker. The hotel is in a great position just off the main strip of Coral Bay and about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. We would return to this hotel as we think it is good value for money and you get what you pay for....

A corally fish.

Advantages: cute, soft
Disadvantages: retired

...or blue These colors were chosen just for you! I think this is a beautiful poem. There is something about it that reaches out to the heart. Its a bright and colourful poem, certain to put a smile on your face. If you want to buy little Coral, you may have a task on your hands. She is now known as 'retired', which means you cannot buy her in stores as she has been discontinued by TY so they can make room for new editions. You may however be able to buy her on auction sites such as eBay, or at car boot sales. This means that the price is not guaranteed. Some may price her low as he is so old, but others may see her as an antique in the collection, and will price her quite high. Personally I would not pay more than £4 or £5 for her, unless she was perhaps one of the last few TYs I needed for my collection. Coral is one of my favourite...

My Bay

Advantages: tasty addition to stews and cassorole
Disadvantages: maybe to strong for your taste

...Bay is an everygreen herb which grows like a shrub, it can be grown in open spaces or in tubs. The flowers of the bay are yellow and it will flower in may. The best way to get a bay plant is to buy one from a garden centre for around 99p depending on the size. I also like to get my herbs from bootsales where you can pick them up from 25p so saves money. When your bay plant is well established in the pot re-plant it outside. It likes to be in a sunny but shaded place in the garden. They may die off in the winter but should throw new shoots during the following spring. Bay is a native to the east mediterranean but have been grown in europe for years. They are a very popular herb to grow in your herb garden as they have a good use in cookery. You can use the leaves dried or fresh. Bay leaves have a very strong aromatic...

Review of Bay

Queens Paradise 6, Coral Bay, Cyprus

Advantages: Fairly cheap villa holiday during the winter to a warmer climate, near centre of Coral Bay
Disadvantages: Villas closer together than we had anticipated, pool in front garden, not fantastically well maintained

...-top order. Villa holidays are touted as 'home from home'. None of the villas I have stayed in are as well maintained as I would expect anyone's home to be! It may only be little things, like the fixings for the showers and towel rails being loose or no longer fixed to the wall at all, but it should be simple enough to have someone fix these niggling things as soon as they occur so that these niggles are not there to impair peoples' enjoyment of staying in the villas. The situation of these villas is well described in the 'blurb' on the James Villa internet site. They are just behind the main street of Coral Bay, and within a short walk of both of the bays in Coral Bay. You don't need a hire car, unless, like us, you want to explore more of Cyprus....

Nature at Bay

Advantages: Accessible, attractive, atmospheric
Disadvantages: Covers too small an area

...As you walk west towards the sunset along the beach at Le Crotoy, the rattle of shingle soon gives way to the soft crunch of seashells in the sand beneath your feet. Before long you are away from the town and the only other sound to be heard is from out in the estuary, a mixed chorus of gulls, geese and sandpipers. They rise and fall in flurries amid the creeks in the grey-green mud. Dusk descends, and a red navigation light flashes out to sea. When you turn to retrace your footsteps, a trail of luminescent dots discloses the habitations on the far side of the bay of the Somme. * Why go, and how? * Even the most enthusiastic advocates (like me) of overnight shopping/eating/drinking trips to France have to admit that the area around Calais and Boulogne does sometimes become a bit overrun with English visitors (like me...

Globalisation Alert! Mall Rats Invade Cyprus!

Advantages: Good facilities. Well appointed. Light and airey. Air conditioned.
Disadvantages: Eye-wateringly expensive. Could be anywhere in the world

...INTRODUCTION In the seven or eight years I have been going to Cyprus for my holidays, a lot has changed, and not necessarily for the better. It was only a matter of time before this beautiful island was afflicted with the relentless influx of multinational American brands and corporations that seem to blight Europe these days. The drive down the Finikoudes ? Larnaka?s main, palm-lined seaside promenade ? now takes you past McDonald?s, KFC, TGI Friday, Haagen Dazs, Pizza Hut, and Bennigans. The seemingly unstoppable globalisation of Cyprus seems well and truly underway. So it was with dread and dismay that I received the news that Cyprus had been ?blessed? with two new malls since my last visit two years ago ? the ?Mall of Cyprus?, built next to an IKEA on the outskirts of Lefkosia (Nicosia), and the newer ?My Mall?, an even...
