...the latest processor from intel, the new intel core 2 quad is the most powerful processor available for the average home pc. The 2.4GHz processor is more than enough for everyday tasks on your pc. This is perfect if you do hardcore gaming, video editing etc or both! The four cores allow you to simultaneously do alot of tasks on the pc and it will not slow down your pc. As more and more software for pc's need a lot of processing power, this processor is the most up to date and the most powerful as yet. The downside to getting this would be that as computing power of computers are increasing faster and faster with respect to time, the quad core processor will no doubt be yesterdays news within a few months as intel have plans to release an octa-core processor which will then outdate this one.... I own this processor and I only have good things to say about it its really good, and a fantastic price you can get from £170 only thats the best processor for this price. Ah one advice as it is four cores it is highly recomended that you use water cooled systems, but you don't need to worry too much, if you have a high end air cooler and your case has a good ventilation that should be fine at least my one is and only consume about 110w which makes it not heat that much as the others processors mainly AMD processors. ...will drop even more making them an even more attractive and great value purchase. I would also not purchasing the faster quad core chips unless you have money to spare, as this chip while running at 2.4ghz straight from the box can easily be overclocked with very little effort, and for minimal expenditure for a aftermarket cooling solution speeds of 3.5ghz are not unknown on this processor. My processor is overclocked to 3ghz and runs happily never going above 70 degrees under full load and that is on the stock cooler. Hope this helps someone... Read review

The Q6600 has four cores each running at 2.4Ghz with 8mb L2 cache which means it can do four times the work in the same amount of time compared to a single 2.4Ghz core. ...Very good efficient, cool running, high performing quad core processor that will give your PC a good turn of speed. The good news is that you're guaranteed to get a newer G0 stepping version if you buy this CPU as that's the only stepping offered at present. You can confirm this using the Intel Processor Identification tool on their website. G0 means it runs cooler than the older B3 stepping but also is bound to overclock more. The bad news is that i's 2x the price of a Q6600 for only 266MHz more performance. As long as you can get yourself a G0 stepping Q6600 there doesn't seem a point in spending double on this Q6700, unless you want the 10x multiplier for something.
