Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz - 17" TFT

Advantages: nice screen, good battery life, fast specs
Disadvantages: large size (price?)

...Apple mac-books, where to start... ok, so to start, it is an apple, that means you get a solid quality product and on the whole very good customer are. this particualar apple is deffinatly more suited to being a media center than other laptops. At first glance you realise that it is a fairly large laptop, this allows for a big screen, which being an apple ffers clear vivid displays, unfortunatly the big screen increases the overal size and also uses more battery, however, the 4.5 hour yattery is still very good for an entertainment laptop. The laptops technical specs include a very fast 2.5 ghz dual core proccesor which is very fast, the dual core allows it to tackle multiple tasks quicly as well as increasing the overall speed of the laptop. The price is quite steep however, but i believe, if given the money, it is...

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (Performance Computing For The Masses)

Advantages: Speed, Reliability, Overclockability and Price!
Disadvantages: None!

...The Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3Ghz CPU is a triumph of computing technology, It combines cool running temperatures, Good clock speeds and Great performance for a low affordable price. These CPU's are well suited to Gaming applications due to their calculation proccess and their Overclockability, This CPU will run all modern games and future games with ease! providing great FPS Rates and great gaming enjoyment, speeds of 3.6Ghz + can be achieved easily on stock cooling. With after-market cooling much higher clock speeds can be achieved. This CPU is very stable and reliable even when overclocked. I was originally hooked on AMD CPU's and was adament that they provided better gaming performance, However after i finaly took the leap to see what all the fuss was about with the Intel C2D CPU's i have never looked back, These CPU's far out...

Review of Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 / 3 GHz processor

Old design hides great new features

Advantages: Huge, High res display. Very quick, great processor, ram, high capacity HDD
Disadvantages: No unibody design, some features only available on SMALLER model, Still no Blu-Ray

...unibody machines). It is, as it's name implies, designed around the large, 17" display. The whole machine is only slightly larger than the display itself, approximately 1/4 of an inch larger on the left and right side, and 1/2 of an inch larger on the top and bottom. The computer is a shade less than an inch thick when closed, and around about 3 KG. It is a large laptop, but is about the thinest and lightest large screen laptop available. It's specs are impressive, what you expect from a top end mac, a dual core 2.5GHz processor, large 320GB hard disc, 4GB ram as standard and NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR3 memory make this a powerful road warrior laptop. It includes most of the additional features you find on high end computers too. 802.11 B/G/N wireless networking, gigabit ethernet, bluetooth 2.1 EDR...

Fantastic Cheap Laptop

Advantages: Fantastic value for money, easy to use
Disadvantages: Takes a while to load up, poor battery run time

...and the Acer Aspire 5633WLMi, both with the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 graphics card. The Lenovo was only £499 compared to £563 for the Acer but the Acer has a dual core processor (the best apparently), double the memory, and a bigger hard drive. I decided for the sake of £60 the Acer was the better choice and would last me longer. I had never heard of Acer before, so I was a bit dubious about buying one, especially as their laptops are so cheap for the specifications you get, but I have no regrets and I guess with the Sony?s of the world you are just paying a premium for the name. The specifications of the Acer are head and shoulders above anything else in the price range. It has the latest Intel processor, an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz. The processor (or CPU ? Central Processing Unit) is the part that does all the calculations, it?s the brains...

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750/ 2.66ghz

Advantages: Fast clock speed / Good amount of lvl2 cache
Disadvantages: Could balance out workload onto both cores a bit more

...This processor is a fairly mid-high spec for core 2 duo range it delivers some great performance for a good price. This cpu can handle a lot of multi-tasking along with playing powerful games. Usually i can run a defragmentation and notice it hardly at all i can play games and play music with no problem it just makes desktop computing so easy. As you may know this is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 / 2.66ghz cpu, It has 2 cores on the one chip. it runs with 64-bit architecture which then opens up a whole new world of 64-bit operating systems for tommorows technolodgy...this along with the fact it has 4mb lvl2 cache makes superfast repsonse rates to programs and files i have also noticed that their are not so many "cache misses" to which i expected so this pleases me the most :D The only downside is that i have noticed that core...

Core 2 Duo E8500

Advantages: Very Fast, good overclocker
Disadvantages: Possible Temperature problem, E8400 is worth a look at

...The Core 2 Duo E8500 is an extremely fast processor for the LGA 775 socket. At a stock speed of 3.16 Ghz, it is already fast enough to accomedate most user's need, but if people want to push it further, then thats not a problem for this. I bought the processor at the beginning of last year, and what a great purchase it was. After updating my Bios on the motherboard to support the 45nm processor, it was set and ready to go. After a while though I decided to try and overclock it, and was amazed at how well it did it. I managed to get it 4Ghz + stable with just a simple after market cooler. Overclocking is no problem for this, aslong as you have to motherboard and cooling to match. When I bought this there was a big debate between the E8400 and E8500, and all it comes down to is .5 of a multiplyer. E8400 is...

the acer aspire, 5633

Advantages: looks, speed
Disadvantages: battery life!!

...on the chunky size! However when you pick this up you can really feel how thin it is, however this doesn't mean its flimsy, and its actually really good build quality. Its weight is 2.8 kg, which isn't heavy but to say its quite a small laptop, this shows you how well built it is, and acer have put a lot of effort into it durability. When I first got to use one of these, I noticed how quickly it started up, this is probably due to its great 2 gb of built in ram. This can even be upgraded to a massive 4 gb if needed. This laptop also has a Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 which makes the laptop run really fast. During start up of the laptop, there was quite a bit of fan noise whilst turning on, however you would expect that on a laptop. However whilst on the laptop and when windows is fully loaded, the fan noise cant be heard at all. Even when I...

Review of Acer Aspire 5633WLMi - Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT

portability at a reasonable price

Advantages: good price for what it can do
Disadvantages: doesnt look that good

...gb, which is surprising that this laptop could take this much ram. If it was me id probably put at least another 1gb into this laptop to get it running things a little quicker. In terms of hard drive space, I don't really think 120 gb will be a problem for anyone, especially since as I said most people will probably just be doing typing work on this laptop when on the move. As with the asus and song vaio though the processor isn't that good, with this laptop though its just like a normal laptop shrunk down into a smaller body, it seems they have got a good performance level at 1.6 Ghz speeds balanced out just right with the incredible 6 hours of battery life that this laptop has to offer. This is something that gives this one the edge over all its other competitors. At 12.1 inches the screen isn't too small to even use this...

Review of Samsung Q45 Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66 GHz - 12.1" TFT

Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz - 13.3" TFT - excellent!

Advantages: portable, runs very fast, large storage with TimeMachine application for backing up your work
Disadvantages: some problems with using Safari, though this may be due to the wireless network I am using, costs!

...In my opinion, the Apple Macbook Pro is an ideal laptop. As a student, I find that it meets all my needs - I can store plenty of music, photos etc even though I bought the cheapest one with the smallest memory. The system operates very fast and comes with both Firefox and Safari. My only criticism is that it only comes with textedit and so you have to buy iWorks for around £65. However, despite this it is good value for money and I don't regret spending my 2 years worth of part-time earnings on it! It has everything I want from a laptop and is ideally portable and good for watching films despite the smaller screen size. Another feature I particularly liked was that it has a light up keyboard for when you are in darker rooms - you can adjust the brightness of the keyboard the same as you can for the screen. Looks very impressive! It is...

Review of Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz - 13.3" TFT

competitive with quad core processors

Advantages: everything
Disadvantages: none

...Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 / 3.16 GHz *** This is my favorite processor and I love to have this in my one of the PC at home due to its great performance and speed. Some processors are really very affordable and trustable with long run capacity and features to provide similar kind of performance as new one. This processor also a kind of processor which can give us reliable performance with its advanced features and speed. *** Core2 duo family from Intel is very popular and most of the desktop PCs and notebooks have this one as first priority. We haven't seen quad core processor in any notebook and core 2 duo processors are most popular with almost all notebooks. But there are slightly differences in notebook processors and desktop processors. We have some low power consuming series processors for notebooks and slightly higher one for desktop...
