...Coral Hotel, Roda Corfu INTRO Not knowing where to go for hols this year we decided to convert our Tesco vouchers and go for a free holiday. The one place that always seemed to come up was the Corel Hotel in Corfu. All the pictures and info on the net pointed to a good family run hotel in a nice area of Corfu. LOCATION The hotel is situated on the outskirts of RODA which itself is about an hour and a half from Corfu Town and the airport. The hotel itself is literally a small stones throw from the beach. Alas that's a pebble beach but its still right on the sea. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the location. There's about a 10 mile stretch of water between Corfu and the mountains of Albania. Stick all of this together and you have nothing short of a fantastic location. Advantages: quiet, private and safe
Disadvantages: The steep hill up to it

...bar very good, did a few meals! basic but filled a gap, the breakfast typical continental!! ham,peaches, bread and cereal, all ok, plenty of coffee and tea, and a lot of wasps!! we had a good veiw across the sea to corfu town, the worst bit was the HILL!!! very steep down the first 100 yards!! then a pleasent walk 5 mins to ipsos main road where there is a plentyful supply of places to eat, not the hustle and bustle of most towns but good enough!! now back to the room! basic! bathroom no bath! shower that wet everywhere! toilet that had an odur, had to keep flushing it!! telly, i think we all take thing for granted, Hotel Jason did the job, but there is a big hill up to it!! very private, 95% clean, very freindly staff, not many English guests, a large amount of Eastern europeans, but ok!! wouldn't go back as we don't do things twice! to...

Advantages: Quiet ( usually!)
Disadvantages: Some people may find the (small)hills a chore/problem

...I am beginning to think we went to a different hotel to the one being reviewed here! To follow the previous review - 1. We arrived at half 3 in the morning - were met by an abrupt night manager, but wouldn't you be at half 3 in the morning, having to deal with weary English toursists not speaking a work of Greek? 2.The room - clean, basic, tidy. We were in the old part of the building, but I thought it was the new part until I realised we had no Air Con. HOWEVER, wasn't needed - the nights were getting chilly. We were only supplied with one pillow each, but we asked for extra the next morning and my tea time we had been given another one each. 3. Marbella Corfu Hotel

Advantages: Can get a good price on good quality
Disadvantages: probably not a five star hotel

...I would suggest that if you need a quick dash to somewhere hot then you could do far worse than Marbella Hotel Corfu. Marbella proudly displays five stars at the end of the drive way, and whilst the rooms and facilities are good I would suggest five stars is a little generous. It is really the rooms which let the place down as they are similar in feel to a good Travel Lodge albeit with air conditioning. We opted for half board which seemed to work out well as there is plenty of food for all tastes - it's buffet style so a large serving area displays the dishes, and guests help themselves to whatever they want. There are lots to choose from, and I'm pleased to say that all of it is good. If you worry about noise at night from clubs / drunk folk having a laugh, then you don't need to worry about it here as the place is very tranquil...

Corfu Chandris Hotel, Dassia Corfu

Advantages: wonderful hotel
Disadvantages: drinks cheaper at pubs over the road.

...My husband and I went to this 4* thomson platinum hotel last October for our anniversary and we loved it. There are 2 sister hotels next door to each other and have wonderful panoramic views from the restaurants, you can use the facilities of both hotels but I would say The Dassia Chandris caters more for the children. We stayed in the Corfu Chandris it also as apartments and bungalows set in well manicured grounds, the other hotel is the Dassia Chandris both set on the beach and views are beautiful!! The weather was glorious apart from one day rain. Bedrooms were large and airy with lovely 6ft size bed,tv,lounge area, mini-fridge(though drinks were expensive from here and the bar). Jason Hotel Ipsos

Advantages: relaxing, quiet.
Disadvantages: Big hill to climb,

...I have just spent a week at the Jason Hotel in Ipsos Corfu. There is one other review for this hotel but as it is over a year old I thought i would write to update the hotel as things can change from year to year. On arrival to the hotel first impression was good from the outside, up a very steep hill lined with lemon trees Jason hotel has a square swimming pool and a out side pool bar. We checked in very early and was greeted by a night receptionist who gave us our keys and directed us to our floor. Jason has a lift to floors but it was broken for our week, this could prove difficult if you are elderly and need lifts to the 2 floors above. I carried our cases to our 2nd floor room which was a little hard work but we made it. On opening our door the first thing that i noticed was a smell of drains, which had a smell of pickled eggs...

...looking for fine dining this is not the place for you! The pool was lovely , not large but spotlessly clean, like every thing else in the hotel. The grounds of the hotel although small were very pretty. there were white roses and hollyhocks in bloom and lemons on the tree. There is a shop underneath the hotel where you can buy anything you have forgotten to bring with you, + wine, anti-mosquito candles, etc,etc. The walk up the hill to the monastery is well worth it for the views alone, there is a small taverna at the top as well. The monastery is shut between 1pm-3pm, also try to avoid it when one of the numerous coach trips are there. The bus stop for Corfu town is just outside the hotel, again well worth a trip. Advantages: Amazing, relazing, beautiful.
Disadvantages: Some parts are very chavvy and "english"

...there is pretty much no nightlife, no clubs in sight, you will have to go to Sidari and the likes for that, but that means the place is so quite and peaceful. And there are places to drink, there is a hotel which we called the "pink palace" no idea of the real name, which has a nice big bar and plays some music at night, so if you just want light nightlife, thats an option, but also all of the tavernas are open until late, and will pretty much continue to serve until your ready to leave. And most of the tavernas have special nights when you pay a set price for a "show", which tends to be Greek dancing, and a meal and drink. Which is great fun!!! Corfu is a beautiful place, or parts of it are, but you do have to research where your going, if you like nightlife, and english food and english bars and pubs, then choose somwhere like Sidari.
