Kavos Review 2008

Advantages: Everyone is one big happy party family.
Disadvantages: The smell from the rotten sewers.

...I visited Kavos, Corfu on August 25th 2008, and stayed in the Ekati Apartments for one week. Kavos is a very small village and everything is based on one road also known as "one strip". Along the strip lie tons of bars and restaurants and a selection of clubs which ALL have PR's standing outside trying to grab you in. Every bar will have different drinks offers and because of the competition you can get beverages quite cheap! Food is reasonably priced throughout Kavos and there is a McDonalds and KFC around. It only takes about 15 minutes to walk from end of one of the strip to the other. The Ekati apartments are fairly reasonable, they have air-con (payable locally), a jacuzzi, a pool, and a 24 hour pool bar where food is served throughout the day. The bathroom is TINY, the floor gets soaked because of the size of the TEENY walk...

Kavos - marvellous

Advantages: A brilliant holiday for singles!
Disadvantages: No sleep!

...I went to Kavos a few years ago on a girls holiday, and I can honestly say its the best girlie holiday I've ever had (and I've been on a few!). We chose Kavos as we all liked Greece but none of us had been to Corfu before - we'd also heard it was "pretty lively" from the travel agent. We arrived at 6am in the morning, and as the coach pulled up near our apartments, we saw people staggering back from the bars - we knew then we were in for a boozy holiday! We weren't wrong! Our apartments were directly on the beach - we literally had to walk down the stairs and we were on it. It was an ideal location, as it was quiet enough at night/morning to let us sleep off our hangovers, but only a few minutes walk to the main road where all the bars, restaurants and shops were. The first night we were there, we went out about 9.30pm and it...

sorry--but kavos is not that bad !!!!!!

Advantages: sunny weather , beaches , cheapish booze ,value for money ,great bars and nighclubs
Disadvantages: noise now and again and watch for football time

...myself and a workmate went to kavos at the end of june/start july for 2 weeks and we thought it was brilliant !!!!!! ok the nightlife can be over the top some nights BUT what do you expect ----people are there to party !!!!! the beach is great and the weather was tremendous --- between 35 and 45 degrees everyday --------major sun lotion time !!!!! if you want some sleep then best bet is to pick an apartment a bit away from the centre as the noise is pretty deafing from 8pm until 8am -------all depends on what kind of people are there the locals are pretty friendly and helpful as long as you don't give them any problems -----our apartment owner was a great guy called babos--- he even taught us some greek phrases to impress the ladies (not that we needed it) if any single guys/girls were to ask me in the street tomorrow...

Kavos is the a great place

Advantages: Cheap booze, Sun, Plenty of night life
Disadvantages: Bit quite in the day,

...If your thinking of somewhere to go this summer and you want booze and fun then kavos is the place to go. I am going again this summer end of july and it will be my second visit and i know i am in for a great time. There are pubs and clubs everywhere never far to walk all at good prices as well if you do go make sure you try a head fucker cocktail bet you can't drink it in one. The best thing about kavos is the night life theres not much to do in the daytime so it might be best to hire a jeep and drive around the rest of corfu this is what we will be doing. Corfu town is a great place to drive and visit with a cricket pitch in the town square so be careful where you park that hire car. You find loads of shops selling designer gear at knocked down prices. One think to watch for is the flower sellers they sell loads...

The place to be for a cheap but lively holiday

Advantages: Very very cheap drinks (Vodka +red bull only 1 Euro)
Disadvantages: Smells a little like sewage, having to pay 2 Euro's for the sun loungers

...Well how do i start? After going to Magaluf 2 years ago, i was a bit weary of going to Kavos. Dont get me wrong, i loved Magaluf. The reason i was weary is because of the price difference of both hiolidays. for the Magaluf trip, i went on a boys holiday. I paid 350.00 Pounds (the pound sign is broken on my keyboard) from a travel agents for a two week holiday in a 3 star hotel. i went to Kavos the summer gone. It cost 219.00 Pounds for a two week holiday in a 2 star hotel. I booked this holiday on teletext holidays. I booked with Olympic. You can get a cheaper deal if you choose alocation on arrival, but i wanted to know where my hotel was as i did not want to be placed too far from the action. I strongly suggest looking at teletext holidays for your holiday and give them a call to find out the details. By using this site, you can...

Kalami- Corfu

Advantages: Amazing, relazing, beautiful.
Disadvantages: Some parts are very chavvy and "english"

...I have been to Corfu twice, and have stayed in Kalami on the two occasions I visited with family. My mum had always wanteds to go to Corfu after reading Gerald Durrells MY Family and Other Animals, which was set in the country of Corfu. But we had been told some bad things about the country, told that it was very "English-y" and not the nicest place to go. But when we looked into Drect Greece, we found this beautiful little town called Kalami, and when my mum found there was an apartement where Gerald Durrell had stayed when he was writing his book, she booked it straight away. And so off we went. We flew from Manchester airport with MyTravel, the flight took around 3 hours and so we had a film on and got a meal on the flight so the time went very quickly. Upon arriving in Corfu, the heat hit us as soon as we stepped off...

Kassiopi - The Loveliest Resort on Corfu!

Advantages: Great Beaches, Friendly People, Fabulous Climate
Disadvantages: Negligible...

...KASSIOPI, CORFU I spent two weeks in Kassiopi, a little fishing village on the Ionian island of Corfu, in September of this year. And quite frankly, it is such a stunningly gorgeous place that I almost have reservations about promoting it in any way whatsoever ?alas, my altruism got the better of me, so here goes! WHY KASSIOPI? Having decided on a holiday in Greece, my husband and I considered renting a villa on Corfu, together with our 2 year-old son & my in-laws. Characteristically enough, we ended up leaving things to the very last minute, but when it came to booking it really was a case of last come, best served! The company we used, Meon, had one last, lonely Villa left languishing on its books in all of Corfu for the dates we wanted to travel. This was Villa Apanemia, in Kassiopi, and so Apanemia it was. I'd never even...

Dassia, Corfu

Advantages: Nice Quiet Resort, Very Friendly Locals
Disadvantages: Not much in the way of Kids Attractions.

...The Resort Dassia is located at the Northern end of the Greek Island of Corfu. The resort is about 1 mile long, through which travels a very busy main road. All the bars, tavernas, restaurants and shops etc are fronting this main road, most of them being located to the right hand side of the road, heading north. Most of the accommodation is self catering studios and apartments, most of which have a pool, very few have a bar and reception. There are three big hotels: The Corfu Chandris, The Dassia Chandis and the Magna Grecia. The Beach To the left hand side of the road, heading north you will find several dirt tracks, these all lead down to the beach. These dirt tracks are very hard to travel when you are attempting to push a pram, so I presume the same would apply for those accompanying wheelchair users and those who...

FROLICS ON CORFU

Advantages: see opinion
Disadvantages: see opinion

...I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep this op on the subject of the island of Corfu, mainly because of the goings on in our holiday accommodation, but I'll try. If you've picked this up from my account list of opinions, then I apologise for having turned it into a mini "Wish You Were Here", but I'm having really excellent fun in digging out the photo albums to rekindle some of the memories. We spent two weeks on a Mark Warner holiday at the Club Barbati. My husband had a habit of winning the work competitions where the prizes were holidays, so the operators had already been chosen for us, otherwise I'm not sure I'd have booked with them. Not because I think there's anything wrong with them, but they are watersports specialists and I'm one of the world's greatest armchair spectators. Still, we weren't tied to the club, we were free to...
