...Coral Hotel, Roda Corfu INTRO Not knowing where to go for hols this year we decided to convert our Tesco vouchers and go for a free holiday. The one place that always seemed to come up was the Corel Hotel in Corfu. All the pictures and info on the net pointed to a good family run hotel in a nice area of Corfu. LOCATION The hotel is situated on the outskirts of RODA which itself is about an hour and a half from Corfu Town and the airport. The hotel itself is literally a small stones throw from the beach. Alas that's a pebble beach but its still right on the sea. When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the location. There's about a 10 mile stretch of water between Corfu and the mountains of Albania. Stick all of this together and you have nothing short of a fantastic location. Advantages: quiet, private and safe
Disadvantages: The steep hill up to it

...bar very good, did a few meals! basic but filled a gap, the breakfast typical continental!! ham,peaches, bread and cereal, all ok, plenty of coffee and tea, and a lot of wasps!! we had a good veiw across the sea to corfu town, the worst bit was the HILL!!! very steep down the first 100 yards!! then a pleasent walk 5 mins to ipsos main road where there is a plentyful supply of places to eat, not the hustle and bustle of most towns but good enough!! now back to the room! basic! bathroom no bath! shower that wet everywhere! toilet that had an odur, had to keep flushing it!! telly, i think we all take thing for granted, Hotel Jason did the job, but there is a big hill up to it!! very private, 95% clean, very freindly staff, not many English guests, a large amount of Eastern europeans, but ok!! wouldn't go back as we don't do things twice! to...

Advantages: Quiet ( usually!)
Disadvantages: Some people may find the (small)hills a chore/problem

...I am beginning to think we went to a different hotel to the one being reviewed here! To follow the previous review - 1. We arrived at half 3 in the morning - were met by an abrupt night manager, but wouldn't you be at half 3 in the morning, having to deal with weary English toursists not speaking a work of Greek? 2.The room - clean, basic, tidy. We were in the old part of the building, but I thought it was the new part until I realised we had no Air Con. HOWEVER, wasn't needed - the nights were getting chilly. We were only supplied with one pillow each, but we asked for extra the next morning and my tea time we had been given another one each. 3. Breakfast - we went down for 9am to be served with some unusal choices, but adequate and plentiful. What's everyone moaning about? What do you have at home???? Compare and contrast! 4...

Marbella Corfu Hotel

Advantages: Can get a good price on good quality
Disadvantages: probably not a five star hotel

.... Corfu town is also worth a visit and is about 25mins by car and bus or 3/4hour by quad bike. For a 10 day last minute deal we got flights, superior double room with garden view and half board accommodation for £600 each which I think represented good value. All in all a great place to relax or to use as a base for exploring the island. The rooms are functioning rather than amazing but the rest of the hotel compensates for this nicely....

Corfu Chandris Hotel, Dassia Corfu

Advantages: wonderful hotel
Disadvantages: drinks cheaper at pubs over the road.

...complimentary smellies and hairdryer. Most rooms had excellent views and ours overlooked the pool and had seaview. entertainment in the evening was a bit hit and miss, but not bad. Food in the restaurant was excellent and varied every day. Hotel had free bus into corfu town. The lobby in the hotel is very impressive with restaurant overlooking the sea. They also had at this hotel along with the pool an out-door whirl pool and splash pool for children. Loungers and umbrellas are limited but you can go on the beach, but you are charged I think 5 euros a day for both items, this is where we spent most of our time. There is also a bar and restaurant down on the beach, you must try the doughnuts from the beach they are too die-for and massive (enough for 2, if you're generous!!) Kalami- Corfu

Advantages: Amazing, relazing, beautiful.
Disadvantages: Some parts are very chavvy and "english"

...I have been to Corfu twice, and have stayed in Kalami on the two occasions I visited with family. My mum had always wanteds to go to Corfu after reading Gerald Durrells MY Family and Other Animals, which was set in the country of Corfu. But we had been told some bad things about the country, told that it was very "English-y" and not the nicest place to go. But when we looked into Drect Greece, we found this beautiful little town called Kalami, and when my mum found there was an apartement where Gerald Durrell had stayed when he was writing his book, she booked it straight away. And so off we went. We flew from Manchester airport with MyTravel, the flight took around 3 hours and so we had a film on and got a meal on the flight so the time went very quickly. Advantages: Location, location ,location.
Disadvantages: Mosquitoes, Hilly

...looking for fine dining this is not the place for you! The pool was lovely , not large but spotlessly clean, like every thing else in the hotel. The grounds of the hotel although small were very pretty. there were white roses and hollyhocks in bloom and lemons on the tree. There is a shop underneath the hotel where you can buy anything you have forgotten to bring with you, + wine, anti-mosquito candles, etc,etc. The walk up the hill to the monastery is well worth it for the views alone, there is a small taverna at the top as well. The monastery is shut between 1pm-3pm, also try to avoid it when one of the numerous coach trips are there. The bus stop for Corfu town is just outside the hotel, again well worth a trip. Jason Hotel Ipsos

Advantages: relaxing, quiet.
Disadvantages: Big hill to climb,

...I have just spent a week at the Jason Hotel in Ipsos Corfu. There is one other review for this hotel but as it is over a year old I thought i would write to update the hotel as things can change from year to year. On arrival to the hotel first impression was good from the outside, up a very steep hill lined with lemon trees Jason hotel has a square swimming pool and a out side pool bar. We checked in very early and was greeted by a night receptionist who gave us our keys and directed us to our floor. Jason has a lift to floors but it was broken for our week, this could prove difficult if you are elderly and need lifts to the 2 floors above. I carried our cases to our 2nd floor room which was a little hard work but we made it. On opening our door the first thing that i noticed was a smell of drains, which had a smell of pickled eggs...

A Family run Hotel with a real personal touch!

Advantages: Friendly Staff, close to beach, family size room

...The Resort Dassia is located at the Northern end of the Greek Island of Corfu. The resort is about 1 mile long, through which travels a very busy main road. All the bars, tavernas, restaurants and shops etc are fronting this main road, most of them being located to the right hand side of the road, heading north. Most of the accommodation is self catering studios and apartments, most of which have a pool, very few have a bar and reception. There are three big hotels: The Corfu Chandris, The Dassia Chandis and the Magna Grecia.
