Event Horizon - Beyond Time
Advantages: Action, plot
Disadvantages: none
....
I watched this movie first time in telly about 6-7 years ago and have to add that it was after midnight. There was something in this movie that I could not stop watching it. It is a science fiction horror movie and there was absolutely dark in my room. All I want to say by that, there are a number of moments when I jumped scared. Now I will briefly introduce to this story.
Plot
Event Horizon is a secret project star ship. It Has BEEN equipped with experimental prototype of gravitons engine. Thanks that was able to create an artificial wormhole which bend time and space so travel from point to point lasted nothing (kind of inter-dimensional bridge). In 2040 sent to Neptune to get ready for its first jump to our nearest star system - Proxima Centauri. Everything is working great till Earth loose contact with Event Horizon...

What an eventful Year
Advantages: Left School , Started College , Made New Friends
Disadvantages: Miss friends , Didn't get through on X factor
...Events which stood out for me in the year of 2007 !
My 16th Birthday - Turning 16 is almost as good as turning 18.I am now treated like an adult and can do some things that I couldn't do when I was 15 such as do the lottery.
Gettting My G.C.S.E results - I couldn't wait for August 23rd 2007 ; This was the day I got my results. I wanted to see if my two years of hardwork had payed off - they had in a way and I did manage to get an A* in my favourite subject , catering.I was well chuffed.
Leaving School - This was such a good feeling.Leaving all the 'popular and mean' kids behind. It's so good to be able to be yourself and think about how you won'y have to see them ever again. However , I do really miss my old friends who I left behind in school.
Starting College - Now this was a big step for me.Going to College wasn't my plan...

A Series of Underwhelming Events
Advantages: beautiful and some witty performances
Disadvantages: Jim Carrey and missing sparkle
...Based on the series of popular kids tragedies by Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler), A Series of Unfortunate Events cobbles together events from the first three in the series, The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room and The Wide Window. The basic premise of both books and film is that if a bad thing can happen... it certainly will.
Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire (is anyone else thinking Von Bulow? No? Just me, then...) are happy as three siblings who like, respectively, to invent, read and bite can be. That is until their parents are killed in a fire that destroys their mansion home, and the young children (14, 10 and infant) are left in the charge of snuffling banker Mr. Poe, who immediately escorts them to the tottering home of the wiry, wily and wicked Count Olaf, allegedly a distant relative. It soon becomes clear that Olaf is...

A Series of Unfortunate, clevery done Events!
Advantages: Meryl Streep! Need I say more?
Disadvantages: Subtitles in some places. Not a disadvantage for me, however.
...I had never read any of the 'A Series of Unfortunate' events books before I had watched this film, and I positively adored this film. Jim Carrey was excellent as the evil Count Olaf, yet brought humour to the role which made Count Olaf even more conniving.
Infact, the movie had a good range of stars in roles. One of my favourite casting choices was Meryl Streep as Aunt Josephine. She was simply fantastic in the role and, even if you weren't enjoying the movie, it's worth watching just to see Meryl Streep.
One thing which I see that could possibly throw people off in the movie, is when the character of Sunny Baudelaire speaks, it has subtitles appear for what she is saying, due to the fact she's a baby and can't speak in proper english yet. However, I enjoyed that aspect because it added humour when no one could understand what she was...

Event Horizon- A Ridley Scott Rip Off
Advantages: Some very powerful moments
Disadvantages: Similar to "Alien"
...Although Event Horizon is a reasonably entertaining science fiction/ horror movie, its story and imagery are highly derivative of other films, and there is scant evidence of any originality or creativity in its construction. Starting as an uninspired imitation of Alien, Event Horizon suddenly turns into a tired retread of The Shining. Some of Clive Barker's highly idiosyncratic imagery from his classic Hellraiser is also used, to little effect. The Event Horizon itself is a gigantic spacecraft, designed by the scientist Dr. Weir (Sam Neill) to have the capacity to travel at the speed of light. The craft went missing, but 15 years after its launch, in the year 2040, it returns, sending a distorted subspace distress call. Weir is assigned a military team, who go on a mission to discover if there any survivors. There aren't. Instead there...

What an Event
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Tacky
...When I do go to the Event, I go on saturday nights, so that it all I will be discussing.
The Event is the main rival for Brighton's largest club Creation, and they are opposite each other on West Street. The main disadvantage that Event II has is that it only has one room. This means that if you don't like the music you are stuck with it (compared to Creation's 3 rooms). There is an upstairs balcony area, with another 2 bars, and plenty of seating (who wants to sit down at a club?)
On a saturday night, Event II does win on price. Creation is £10, whereas Event is free before 11, and then just a few pounds after. The drinks are about the same price, a standard price for a club in brighton, although it does have some bottles for £1.50 before 11pm.
It plays a variety of music, going through genres in a very predictable way (you...

Extinction Level Event
Advantages: Unique style
Disadvantages: Some disturbing lyrics at times
...This was one of my first rap albums, but since I have bought many more. After hearing the track "Gimme Some More" on a music channel I decided I wanted to hear more from Busta Rhymes and so purchased the album "Extinction Level Event".
The first track "Intro - There's Only One Year Left" sets the scene for the rest of the album, or the dark parts of it. A role play between a child and an elder describes an apocalypic future for our planet. The gradual deepending of the voice as the prophecy is described makes for eerie listening and I was glad when the first proper track came on. The album was released in 1998, before rappers were truely attracted to change their genre to comply with a more mainstream demand.
Having spoken about the dark side of the album, I must point out that not all the tracks have such a gloomy basis...

event horrrorizon
Advantages: easy to get into
Disadvantages: maybe a little too gory at times
...When I was recommended to watch this film I though oh great another sci-fi spacey horror type film, although in a way I was right this film CAN NOT be compaired to any film of it's kind. With it's very individual (and gory!) story line it is enough to make any sci-fi hater convert.
Lets set the scene: The year is 2047 and years earlier the ship Event Horizon vanished into thin air (or should I say space) and has never been heard from since (although from the title we can guess whats about to happen)...until now. The United States Aerospace Command recieve a signal from the lost ship and send out a crew to investigate what went on.
The crew find the ship and it's crew (dead but still a crew) and are forced to stay on the Event Horizon because of damages to their own ship. Whilst trying to find out what happened to the previous crew...

Saturday Night's Main Event
Advantages: For the time it was pretty good
Disadvantages: Doesn't have some of the awesome matches it could on it
...You've gotta of heard of the WWF, or at least Hulk Hogan. During the 1980's to late 1990s the wrestling world took the media by storm, and managed to inflitrate its way into many a TV station. In the early 1980's when wrestling was just taking off on the TV there would be a occasional TV show and a Big Event every couple of weeks which held the dream matches, the matches that were billed to be the best.
However during the mid 80's Vince McMahon the owner of the WWF (World Wrestling Federation) spoke with owners of one of USA's most famous TV Stations, who agreed to air a 2 hour wrestling show every 3 or so weeks, on prime time TV on Saturday Nights.
This was it, it was going to either blow up in Vince's face or Vince McMahon was going to become a very rich man indeed. Thankfully the latter happened and the TV show gave me (and...

The End Of A Series Of Unfortunate Events
Advantages: The Final Book in a fantastic series
Disadvantages: See review...
...Series of Unfortunate Events is a series of books by the fictional author Lemony Snicket (the author's real name is Daniel Handler). The series is Snicket's chronicle of the many many woes suffered by the three Baudelaire children.
"The End" is the thirteenth and final book in the series (on it's own it won't make much sense, so I highly recommend that before reading this one you read the twelve books before it), which to be honest is a good thing, because in the last few books the style and some of the ideas were starting to wear a little thin.. The Baudelaires float off from the fiery destruction they caused at the Hotel Denouncement, with their arch enemy Count Olaf sharing the boat. Soon they come across a mysterious island of superficiality and strongly set ways. It's difficult to talk about a story like this without giving away...
