El Corte Ingles Store Restaurant, Malaga

Advantages: Very convenient when shopping
Disadvantages: Not exactly a scenic location but that is not why its there.

...I ate lunch here with my wife and two friends in October 07 We were there because we were shopping at El Corte Ingles, which beyond doubt is the superior supermarket chain in Spain. The service was quick, the waiter was attentive and the food was as good and comprehensive as the menu suggested. The menu itself consisted of typical Spanish fare, tenera (Calf) beef, various cuts of pork,a wide selection of fish, soups and salads, nothing that I remember in great detail, but what I do remember was the overall high quality of the food that was served up to me and my companions. Do you ever get that feeling when the food arrives at the table and your mind says either "wow, I think I'm really going to enjoy this," or "Oh no, I wish I'd chosen to eat someowhere else." The one and only Spanish Department Store

Advantages: one-stop-shop
Disadvantages: a bit expensive

...El Corte Ingles ( the English Cut) is the only big department store in Spain present in most big cities. Barcelona has got two, one strategically located in the busiest part of the city – Placa Catalunya (7 floors) and the other situated in the main Business and Finance street – Diagonal (5 floors). Compared to UK department stores I would say that El Corte Ingles could be at the same level as John Lewis, although some people might say that it would be closer to Selfridges. Most of these department stores have the same layout: Lower ground floor – Supermarket with a wide selection of top class meats, cheeses, wines, cava, etc Groud floor – Accessories, Cosmetics, Perfumes, Souvenirs… Then upwards, each floor is dedicated to a category only – menswear, womeswear, children, house & garden...

Best food store in Europe, but it comes at a price

Advantages: fantastic variety of high quality food
Disadvantages: long queues, very expensive

...El Corte Inglés is Spain's largest chain of department stores. Whereas they sell everything from cloth to computers, I fancy them particularly for their food section. If you want to prepare your own original Spanish Tapas, you will find all ingredients at Corte Inglés (and some Tapa recommendations in this review). To a wannabe gourmet and amateur cook like myself, El Corte Inglés is a dream come true. A Portuguese friend of mine who runs a seafood restaurant in my German hometown drives twice a week to the fish market in Paris. If I was ever to go so far only to buy food, well, then it would be a flight to Madrid, with direct transfer from Barajas Airport to the next El Corte Inglés store. shearer and cort?

Advantages: good manager and strikers
Disadvantages: porous defence

...an interesting duo, but will it work? shearer can now get back to concentrating on his club football, with the tabloid hacks of his back as he no longer carries the burden for englands failures. cort is, well, he's tall. i don't think he warrants a 7 million price tag, and wimbledon have done good business to get that for him. this duo could be similar to ferguson-shearer, as a shearer liked someone else up there with him putting themselves about. cort should do this given his size, and should get more than his fair share of knock downs for shearer to bury. once again though, despite robson's mangerial ability, and realistic hopes of a eurpoean spot, they can expect for mid table and a cup run at best....

Advantages: Easy to get around, friendly staff, easy to find, lots of products

...El Corte Ingles, as they describe themselves, really is 'Todas las mejores tiendas - en una.' Or in English, All the best stores - in one. And that's because it really is great. Selling everything from loo roll to caviar, from wendy houses to mansions, from toys to real cars... it just has everything. It is similar to a kind of department store - a bit like Harrods, except bigger and not quite as grand. And some staff even speak English so their very similar! I have visited the one in Bilbao and Madrid, and I'm going to talk to you about the one in Bilbao because I see it as better, although they are both pretty similar. ...Corte Ingles is the main department store in Spain, it is huge every major town has at least one and cities will have several. One of the main stores in Barcelona is at the top of the famous Ramblas. It is huge 7-8 floors ( I didnt count), covering everything from underwear to toys. The thing about Corte Ingles is the quality of the merchandise, it very rare to find shoddy cheap good but of course quality has a price. The mensware dept is as in British stores divided into labels and there is an excelllent range of good quality suits, at prices less than the uk. A good service provided the we Brits could learn from is that they will make same day, free alterations to even the cheapest of suites. If you are a shopaholic then Barcelona Corte Ingles is for you, if only to escape the intense summer heat by savouring the excellent air...

...Mens tennis is rubbish. Its not about skill, its just who wacks the ball hardest on serve. There are hardley any rallies and its boring. The womens is brilliant. The sport is brilliant there are lots of exciting rallies and loads of gorgeous women especially Martina Hingis and Anna Kornakova. Its getting exciting from all angles recently on and off cort with ugly players slagging off Anna Kornakova saying they're no good but it makes for a more interesting specticle and adds to the atmosphere when there has been a bit of bitching off cort. The Women rule....

Hotel Gran Ducat

Advantages: excellent central location

...A fine basic city centre hotel, clean and functional. Helpful reception, restaurant and cleaning staff. Check in was not possible when we arrived at the hotel at noon, nor were we able to get a late check out when leaving. Excellently located across from one of the many side entrances to El Corte Ingles, five minutes trundle from the Airport Bus Stop in Placa Catalunya. Our room had a single bed added to make it a tripple, which was rather cramped, but with so much to see we did not spend much time there. The view from our room was into a courtyard and the back of buildings, however some rooms seemed to look onto other rooms across an air tunnel. Free internet access. A great hotel to flop back to after a long day sightseeing!...
