Advantages: Beautiful Villa, Scenic Location

..., the town of Llafranc has a similarly beautiful beach and some very good restaurants. The coast along this small stretch of the Costa Brava is exceptionally beautiful. The seas are clear and blue, and the coastline is mountainous and densely wooded. There are so many delightful coves and beaches nearby that the casual visitor need never even visit the same one twice. Simply steer clear of the tourist stretches and it would be virtually impossible to go wrong. FINALLY: Villa holidays are unbeatable, in my opinion, especially if travelling with children. A villa is generally far more spacious than an apartment, and less restrictive than a hotel. Advantages: Wonderful beach, small town which hasn't been overdeveloped and still retains it's fishing village charm
Disadvantages: Only one road into resort which gets extremely busy during high season, town centre can be noisy late at night in high season

...L'Estartit started out as a small fishing village, located on the Costa Brava in the Gerona region of Catalunya. Today it is a great resort for the tourist, offering a wide range of accomodation, bars, restaurants and a wonderful beach, without ruining the atmosphere of a small seaside town. The town is located at the foot of a small mountain, known as the Rocamaura, and this gives the town a great deal of natural beauty from wherever in town you happen to be. The side of the mountain is covered in trees, with a rock peak: and there are villas located on it. You can walk up and have a stroll around the inhabited part of the mountain either by a huge flight of steps, or via a couple of roads just off the Santa Ana street, or by the road near Castell Montgri campsite. ...In July 2000, I spent two weeks in the resort of Tamariu, about 100km north of Barcelona on the Costa Brava. After an early start - 3.30 in the morning, we flew British Airways from Heathrow to Barcelona. When we arrived at Barcelona, the car hire process was long and having to stand in a queue for an hour was frustating. The problems outside were worse however, Barcelona being one of the most confusing cities i've ever been to, but still, i liked the place. When we finally arrived in Tamariu, I was fairly impressed with the apartments, after being used to 1 bedroom apartments, this was a new experience, the apartments Sol Pin, used by The Travel Club of Upminster in Britain each had 2 bedrooms, a 2 toilets and a seperate living area. ...Well what can i say, its so good i'm already booked and waiting to go back again soon. I found the Costa Brava a very friendly and welcoming place to visit. I stayed at Calella, but along the coast line you will find, Tossa del mar,Llorett de mar,Malgrat de Mar,Santa Sussanah and Pineda, all these towns are within a few minutes train ride away, they are even linked by a small land train service, which only costs a couple of Euro's for the return tickets, this way also enables you to take an extensive tour of the towns and discover what each has on offer. There is an outside market every day in the towns, your Hotel etc will happily supply you with the information on which market, day and town.These markets are full of all the usual knock of versions of top named brand goods, for example Doulcie and Gabbana belts for 10 euro's, come...

...My summer holiday of 2008 was spent in Fuerteventura and my hotel of choice was the Hotel Costa Caleta. The hotel is also known by its former name Hotel Ocean Costa Caleta. Address is Av. Alcalde Juan Ramón Soto Morales Caleta de Fuste Fuerteventura Spain Tel:+34-928547550 I'm not sure if the hotel offers any car parking facilities as I hadn't needed any. It's a 3 star rated hotel and is quite modern and situated quite centrally in the resort of Costa Caleta (or Caleta de Fuste, or Castillo as it is also known) Only a short 10-15 mins transfer time from the airport. It has over 300 rooms. It was built in 2005 so is still quite new. The hotel is only about 5-10 mins walk (5km) from the beach and the shops and parks are all nearby too. They do have internet facilities with 2 PC's in the lobby with pay to use internet...

Tamariu- a hidden treasure of the Costa Brava

Advantages: Quiet and tranquil, breathtaking scenery, not too commercialised.

...situated around one main town- Palafrugell and from Palafrugell it takes a 15 minute bus journey to get any of the three. Calella I myself first got to visit this area of spain when I was 3 years old and we visited Calella. It was an amazing place and I was lucky enough to stay there four more times before my parents decided that it had become too over run with tourists. Back then it was small with traditional spanish white washed buildings and a few cafes, restaurants and hotels. The main tourists who visited were Spaniards and French. My family liked being able to go on holiday without seeing other British people everywhere as it meant we would get to chat to people from other countries and learn a little about different cultures. Nowadays it is still a lovely little town although there are many more Bristish tourists than there were...

Advantages: Good Value short break
Disadvantages: Had to come home too soon!!

..."next door noise" could be heard through the walls.I spoke to the two guys over the terrace railing next morning about this,and it turned out they were from a couple of miles up the road from where we live! I found the food fine,and ate far,far too much!Right;we wouldn't choose this resort or hotel for a future holiday-not as first choices,anyway.One,because we've now been there,done that;as the T-shirt is rumoured to proclaim;and Two;we prefer the Hotel "Planamar"(Another "H-Top") along the coast in Malgrat'. The calibre of people who wrote the damning reviews I read must socially be far higher than mine. ....but,most of these were dated '05/'06.Perhaps they were taken note of. Hotel Riviera, Costa Brava ~ costa very reasonable

Advantages: Location on main promenade, access to transport.

...We stayed here in 2006 the last week May, first week June on a "Special" from flyglobespan out of Edinburgh, taken off their website at flyglobespan.com Flights were good timings to and from Edinburgh, and we were met at Barcelona by their transfer reps service and escorted to our coach. The transfer to Santa Susanna took just over an hour and twenty minutes, but this would obviously be longer in peak season just due to traffic volumes. The Hotel is located just where the newer part of anta Susanna starts and the older part ends, we remember this hotel from around twenty years ago. When we stayed before it was officially a 1 star, nowadays it classes as a 3 star, but I have to say frankly there's not a lot of difference. The rooms have been re-furbished in that time, and the public areas have very much been upgraded, but the rooms...
