Benalmadena the Costa del Sol

Advantages: Friendly town with lots to do, a lovely holiday.
Disadvantages: If you steer clear of the 'English Bars' there are none

...COSTA DEL SOL Benalmadea Costa, I'm afraid I was always a bit of a 'travel snob' regarding the Costa del Sol. I envisaged the types of scene in TV's Benadorm, a type of Blackpool with sun. As members of a vacation club ( it was then Sunterra now Diamon Resorts) we had the opportunity for a weeks break for relatively few points at the Sahara Sunset in Benalmadea Costa, as we could get Easy Jet airfairs to Malaga for a very low price we decided to try it. We have been three times more since then - so needless to say I was not disappointed. Benalmadena is only 15 kilometers from Malaga Airport, car hire is easily obtainable but it is only 25 euros for a taxi from the airport and there are plenty of excursions and good public transport available in the resort. It is set on the Costa del Sol between...

Costa Del Sol

Advantages: Cheap loads of sun
Disadvantages: Too much english

...I have lived in Costa Del Sol for about a year and half and just returned home to the uk four weeks ago.One thing good about southern Spain is that there's plenty of sun all year round even in the winter its nothing like the UK it's sill quite warm. There are plenty and plenty of English, Irish and Welsh bars out there which to me it was a bit too much and that's one thing that I didn't like in southern Spain due to its very English. Shopping I was situated just outside Torremolinos it's about half an hour from Fungerola which has Marks and Spencer and a very big shopping mall there. Malaga is just half an hour way as well, in the central train station there is a shopping mall with plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes. Night Life Benelemedena has a 24hour even thou the pubs and clubs are not open 24h most of the clubs are...

Holiday Village-Benalmadena, Costa Del Sol

Advantages: Good for Children
Disadvantages: Too far from resorts

...Holiday Village,Benalmadena-Costa del sol, stayed 2 weeks from 14 july 2007 Flight 2 and a half hours with First Choice was short and on time so really good as I hate flying!! Transfer From Malaga airport it takes about half an hour to transfer to the hotel, it is on the outskirts of Benalmadena. Check-in If you fill out the registration form on your transfer it is quick and easy. The staff were curtious and pleasant at all times. Hotel set half way between Benalmadena and Fuengirola and not good for a stroll into either, its too far from both ,catch a bus! The Living Room Well this was my first let-down, as before we went away we had heard there was building work going on at the back of the hotel and also at the beach club where most of the pools are located. Hearing this I called into to my First Choice shop to...

Review of Holiday Village Benalmadena, Costa Del Sol

Benalmadena - Costa Del Sol

Advantages: Plenty to do
Disadvantages: Noisy traffic

...I?ve just returned from a one-week holiday in Benalmadena in Costa Del Sol (June 2004) and would like to provide some information about Benalmadena Resort & Benalmadena Palace Apartments where we stayed. ****Benalmadena Palace Apartments**** Newly opened in February 2004, this Apart-Hotel has 4-Star rating. The coach transfer from Malaga Airport to the Hotel was only about 30 minutes and that included a drop off a one other hotel first. Facilities include Outdoors Pool & Children?s pool, Indoor Pool and Jacuzzi, Sauna, Games Rooms, Table Tennis, Gym (Which was well equipped) Pool Table. Bar. Children?s play area, Mini-Golf (although there were only 5 holes!) Cyber café. Some facilities were still being implemented, I don?t think the mini-golf was properly finished, and also Tennis Courts & 5-a-side football pitch were still under...

COSTA del CRANE

Advantages: Sunshine
Disadvantages: Feels like England

...When I was offered a week of Spain I jumped at the chance! Club La Costa was offering a week at California Beach, near Finguerola for only 29 pounds plus airfare to Malaga. We knew that it was early in the season but figured we would take the chance and beat the crowds. Club La Costa is a large development about 30 mins from Malaga airport. You can take a Tiny Train between the Two main parts of the resort: Marina del Sol and California Beach (or as we learned, smile sweetly at any of the porters and they will drive you there!). In this part of Spain it is low season until June 1. So the restaurants and bars at the resort closed promptly at midnight - not at all like the Spain I had heard of where you eat late. Eventhough you have the main pool to yourself, this is for a VERY good reason... it is NOT HEATED. There is...

Costa del Sol

Advantages: Friendly people, beautiful scenery, caters for all
Disadvantages: Driving in towns if you are not used to driving abroad

...15 minutes drive from Feungirola. Mijas has a bull ring and to cater for the more sensitive of us, perform with no blood sport. Also there are donkey and pony rides and above all the views are spectacular from the mountains down to the coast. Mijas has good shops, with the best buys being leather and lacework. One word of warning though, the paths are very hilly, and there are lots of steps and can be hard work. The Spanish are a lovely people and very patient, so waiting for a meal takes longer than here. However you will never feel rushed into leaving after your meal. The shops shut between 2pm and 5pm for siesta, and as the sun gets very hot during the summer months, it's a nice time to sit back and relax on the beach or in a bar. Driving in Spain can take some getting used to, especially in towns. Be aware of the traffic lights as...

How to get the best from the Costa del Sol

Advantages: lots to see and do, cheap flights
Disadvantages: many tacky bits

...'t found either yet, but Malaga province boasts the only crocodile park in Europe and will soon have a night zoo - for visiting those creatures that are usually asleep in normal zoos. Finally, there's the mountains themselves. You can take the cable car up Benalmadena mountain and see Africa from the top, or simply drive North. In particular the road from East of Malaga to Granada (not the main road - you'll need a map) and "El Chorro", Near Ronda are beautiful. If you have time you can drive to the Sierra Nevada near Granada for skiing between December and May. 4. Sports This will be a short section as I'm not a sports fan, but I know many people love it. The Costa del Sol is full of golf courses and there's a horse-racing track near Fuengirola which has free-entry meetings every Sunday. Other sports like go-karting, water skiing...

Nerja - The Jewel of the Costa del Sol

Advantages: Unspoiled with an authentic Spanish feel
Disadvantages: Some of the apartments are situated up steep hills

...with the place and I would recommend it heartily to anyone who wants a Costa holiday with much more charm than some of the brasher resorts. The locals say that Nerja is truly magical and draws people back there year after year. I can only speak from experience and that is certainly what has happened to me....

hotel sol principe is fit for a king.

Advantages: everything about the place is an advantage.
Disadvantages: the non smoking policy (for some)

...good as the rest of what the hotel had to offer. (vegetarians catered for). Other activities include archery, shooting, tennis, volleyball, table tennis, aerobic; keep fit and aqua aerobics, bowls and darts. There is also available at an extra cost sports such as sailing, windsurf, water ski, horseback riding and golf. As well as all that for the adults there are tennis lessons and a huge play park for the kids. The hotel is well placed between lots of the attractions torremolinos and the rest of the Costa has to offer, you can catch a coach from virtually right outside the door of the hotel which will take you to any of these local attractions for a very small cost. THE ATTRACTIONS! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Tivoli Fun Park Aqua Park Plaza Mayor (Town square) Selwo Aquarium Selwo Zoo Crocodile farm Picasso Museum...

MARBELLA - my dream second home

Advantages: Too many to list, see opinion!
Disadvantages: Having to come home!

...Very soon after I first joined Ciao I remember checking out a few opinions on the Costa del Sol, seeing as I had just booked to go on holiday there! One of the opinions was written by a British ex-pat who now lives in Marbella, and now, after my holiday, I can only say how jealous I am! Marbella is the only place in the world, with the exception of possibly Boston, USA, to which I could actually see myself emigrating (if I was the type of person to emigrate, which I don?t think I am, although after spending a week in Marbella I am not so sure!) Many Brits that we either spoke to or overheard(!) during our stay do seem to have second homes in Marbella and this is something to which I would most undoubtedly aspire, but with property prices commonly over £1 million, I think that will have to remain a dream for now! Marbella is...
