Costa Dorada - Hotel Cambrils Princess - May 2005

Advantages: Sunny, cheap, plenty to do and lovely country
Disadvantages: Railways and Yobs

...This is the second time I have been to the Costa Dorada region, the first time was 10 years ago by coach - what a journey- never again I told myself, 36 hours of hell - but now you can fly. Right which hotel -Hotel Cambrils Princess. I had seen this hotel the last time I went and thought what a lovely hotel it looked but it must be very expensive - it is 4 Stars. I knew that Thompsons used it so I looked in their brochure and found it - only wanted a week to recharge the batteries - right lets add it up £ 10 each so we can sit together - another £ 10 each for a meal on the plane - ah ! the coach is free but it stops at every hotel in Salou before it gets to us. Hmmm ! The total cost in the brochure was £ 936 for a week for 2 people but hang on ! .......if I book on the web I get £ 100 discount - £ 836 for 1 week - halfboard. Ah well I...

La Pineda A Spanish Gem.

Advantages: Award Winning Beaches, plenty of attractions.
Disadvantages: None that I have found.

..., just a few hiccups especialy with roundabouts but we made it and headed off down the road to historic Tarragona and its port then on to La Pineda. One thing worth mentioning is that they have no road tax it is all done with toll gates the price of which was 2.80 Euro's, so have some change at the ready. La Pineda is situated on the Costa Dorada not far from Salou but the distance makes all the difference, it was getting to the end of the season and so things were slowing down and it was not the hectic tourist resort I expected. The other thing was it was comical to see the locals all wrapped up in thier winter woolies while we wandered around in short sleeves, night time required a cardigan but no more for us. Advantages: Nice coffee, Nice atmosphere, Nice barristas, Overall a nice place

...Costa Coffee is one of the 'great chains' of england and beyond (As far as i know). Almost anywhere you go, town, villages, and even supermarkets, you'll never be too far away from a costa. Costa Coffee started in America (I know. People say they are an italian brand but they are NOT), doing espresso bars around the country. They evolved since, and now you can find them in a LOT of places. They do a range of coffees, use pure ground coffee, top notch machines, and 'Professional Barristas' to serve you the perfect cup of coffee. From your morning cappuccino, to the afternoon espresso. Benalmadena the Costa del Sol

Advantages: Friendly town with lots to do, a lovely holiday.
Disadvantages: If you steer clear of the 'English Bars' there are none

...COSTA DEL SOL Benalmadea Costa, I'm afraid I was always a bit of a 'travel snob' regarding the Costa del Sol. I envisaged the types of scene in TV's Benadorm, a type of Blackpool with sun. As members of a vacation club ( it was then Sunterra now Diamon Resorts) we had the opportunity for a weeks break for relatively few points at the Sahara Sunset in Benalmadea Costa, as we could get Easy Jet airfairs to Malaga for a very low price we decided to try it. We have been three times more since then - so needless to say I was not disappointed. Benalmadena is only 15 kilometers from Malaga Airport, car hire is easily obtainable but it is only 25 euros for a taxi from the airport and there are plenty of excursions and good public transport available in the resort. ...My summer holiday of 2008 was spent in Fuerteventura and my hotel of choice was the Hotel Costa Caleta. The hotel is also known by its former name Hotel Ocean Costa Caleta. Address is Av. Alcalde Juan Ramón Soto Morales Caleta de Fuste Fuerteventura Spain Tel:+34-928547550 I'm not sure if the hotel offers any car parking facilities as I hadn't needed any. It's a 3 star rated hotel and is quite modern and situated quite centrally in the resort of Costa Caleta (or Caleta de Fuste, or Castillo as it is also known) Only a short 10-15 mins transfer time from the airport. It has over 300 rooms. It was built in 2005 so is still quite new. The hotel is only about 5-10 mins walk (5km) from the beach and the shops and parks are all nearby too. They do have internet facilities with 2 PC's in the lobby with pay to use internet...

Cracking Costa Coffee!

...Costa Coffee have branches all over the UK. They serve a range of coffees teas and other drinks. Cafes are set out in a comfortable, modern style and the general feel is relaxed and casual. It is quite calming to be in a costa coffee shop and the smell is delicious. I really like the artwork they have on the walls - italian scenes - very funky and modern. They also have a range of plants making it feel quite homey. The tables, floor and toilets have always been clean and well stocked when ive been in - even at busy times. The staff have also been very friendly and efficient. Besides drinks they also serve cakes and snacks. These are also nice but sadly not homemade. Prices are in line with most other coffee shops but i still think they are a little expensive. Quality is probably slightly better than your average run...

Costa Dorada, Princess Maritim Hotel

Advantages: beautiful, lovely weather, port aventura, aquaopolis, day trips to barcelona, cheap, safe area, bonavista market, close to airport
Disadvantages: rush for sunbeds in the morning!

...THE AREA: Costa Dorada, meaning 'the golden coast' is a beautiful area, the small town of Salou is full of interesting shops and is great to just wander round. ACTIVITIES: There is plenty to do, Port Aventura is a MUST, suitable for all ages with spectacular shows and a wide variety of rides, it makes a great day out for all the family, although prepare to stay till late to watch the magnificent fireworks and light display. Day trips to Barcelona are another great day out, although perhaps not so much for young children. Snorkling of off a catamaran in the med was something i particularly enjoyed as this two hour trip was organised by our hotel, however i would recommend going earlier in the morning to avoid the midday heat as well as the midday rush! It Costa lot but it was worth it!

...I'd never been into Costa Coffee before, until more recently that was when the delicious smells drifting out lured me in uncontrollablly. In Aberdeen, in the Trinity Centre (which can be found on Union Street), there is a Waterstones book store. If you go to the top/first floor you will find a Costa Coffee cafe. It looked quite a friendly little place, so we decided to give it a try. On the floor there are an arrangements of tables; some wooden and some metal. They are quite close together though so you have to squeeze your way through them. There was also a sofa and a low down table ideal for wheelchair users, which I thought was quite nice of them to provide - I'd never seen this facility before. At either side of the cafe you have book shelves, so people do come up here for books too (this was when I got drawn in!). Heading to...

...As a couple we had been recommended the Dominican Republic as a lively and friendly place to visit for our August 2003 hols.
