A cot that travels with you

Advantages: Can be used as a cot or play-pen
Disadvantages: The instruction manual is crap!

...We bought a Travel Cot about 3months before our daughter was born. We thought it would be a great thing to have when she stays over at her grandparents houses and it doubles up as a fantastic safe play-pen for while she is at home. The Graco Travel Cot cost around £99 from Toy'R'Us and comes compete with Bassinet, changing unit and a bag for packing away. The travel cot is really easy to put together, although the instructions that it comes with make things more difficult than they actually are. The first attempt to put it together took me 3hours and now that I know how to do it it takes me less than 5 minutes. Constuction The main part of the cot has collapsing sides, to put it together just pull these sides up until they click and lock into place. Graco Travel Cot Care Centre

Advantages: Plenty of room for nappies and stuff in care centre
Disadvantages: Doesn't fit through doors.

...I am lucky enough to have a mother who lives in the same house as me and is willing to look after my daughter from six in the morning until twelve noon so that I get proper sleep every day. This means that we like to move my daughter from one room to another when we swop over. Travel light, get a travel cot

Advantages: Has many uses,easy to store
Disadvantages: Can be a little heavy,if carrying a distance, weighing in at 43lbs.

...I have this Playpen/travel cot and unlike the old wooden ones which dont collapse down this one does. I brought it while my first daughter was 6 mths as I was going down to Hastings to see family and she had grown out of her moses basket.I kept it downstairs and set it up in the corner so she could play in it while I was doing dinner so I knew she was safe.I know some veiws about playpens are that they are bad and restrict freedom but I feel that if used properly then they are a god send.I dont agree with people who stick their child in a playpen 24/7 with no interaction- that is defeantly out of order. A baby needs to be on the floor sometimes to find out how to roll and move about-sense of space in comparision to their body.Reaching out of toys just out of their reach and moving, all aids and speeds up the will to get somewhere...

Nice Sturdy Cot (Mothercare Playbed Cot)

Advantages: 2 Position Base & Drop Side

...We bought this cot before our baby was due, we wanted to get everything sorted so we didnt have to worry about getting anything once it had arrived. I first saw this cot in my brothers house & like it, it had a very solid feel to it & was not to big (the room it was going in was tiny so we needed a smaller size cot). It has 2 teething rails and 1 dropside which makes life a lot easier (some of the cheaper cots dont have this so you have to reach over the top of the cot). It also has three beads at each end of the cot which the child will start to take a interest in once they are standing. The cot comes in 2 colours beech & white, (white comes with coloured beads). It has 2 positions for the base so when your child is small you can have it higher up & as they start to grow & stand up you can lower it so they cant climb/fall out of it...

...Well, I thought long and hard before deciding what to post as my 100th review on Ciao, I was hoping to write something witty and engaging but unfortunately when called upon to be humorous I suffered what can only be described as ?jokers block?. The general consensus of opinion seemed to be that having 3 cats was not compatible with having a baby in the house. Cosatto Hogarth Cot bed

...I bought the Cosatto Hogarth cot bed as after searching for months to find a good looking cot bed in cream to go in a neutral nursery it stood out from the rest. It comes in 3 colours cream, country pine and walnut. It has a really chunky , sturdy design and I was really pleased to find a cot bed with a drop down side as most have fixed sides. It is simple to build but definatley a 2 person job !!! It has 3 mattress height positions, drop side, teething rails and the footboard splits for when you need to change it from a cot to a bed. I purchased mine from kiddicare.com and got a foam mattress included with delivery for £199.97 you can't get much better than that ! Communication and service from KIddicare was excellent...

Advantages: all round version stops limbs getting stuck in the bars
Disadvantages: not widley available in the country

...We decided when my daughter started to roll and crawl around her cot to get some cot bumpers to stop her banging her head on the bars at night, We looked high and low at every make of cot bumper in the high street but no seamed suitable as they only cover the top of the cot by the head and my daughter was banging her head on every side not just the top, then we discovered the 'all round' cot bumpers in the marvelous 'vertbaudet' catalogue and we have never looked back. ...This is the first of two products in the Samsonite Travel Cot range and it leads on to the Samsonite Pop Up Bubble Travel Cot (which I have also reviewed). It is a brilliant, pioneering product and was the first of its kind on the market when I bought it while still pregnant with my first child in 2003/04. The Samsonite Pop Up Travel Cot is available in three colours - pink and blue in the standard model and stone in the deluxe model. The standard models are made of cotton and nylon, although the baby only lies on cotton, with the main outer body being made of the easily cleaned nylon while the deluxe model is all cotton except the nylon mosquito net - this does seem to make it slightly cooler but more difficult to clean any stains.
