Cote D'Azur
Advantages: More affordable thank you think !!
Disadvantages: Not many I can think of
...The Cote D'Azur is the term that refers to the French Riviera and encompasses - among others - the three cities Nice, Cannes, and Monaco. The latter is a "Principality", which is self-governed and sovereign from the rest of France.
The area is served by Nice Cote D'Azur International Airport, which is approximately 2 hours flight from the UK. Although, this is slightly dependent upon the airport you depart from. Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, and Stansted would all fall into this travel category, where as Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester would all be closer to 2 ½ hours travel time.
Due to the close proximity of the three cities mentioned, I have never been to this region of France without visiting all three together!! Although, of the 3, Nice is probably the city I have spent the least amount of time, maybe because it is located in...

Cote d'Ivoire, country in decline
Advantages: the real africa, hardly a tourist destination
Disadvantages: political and ethnical instability, rough travelling
...This is a country that had it all, a nice export of cocoa beans, some gold, plenty of timber, enough space, stability, you name it! And then it happened, de world market for cocoa-beans collapsed and Cote d'Ivoire, the example for the west-African country, began to fade, then there were elections, and then a coup, and then an uprising, another uprising and now it's on the brink of civil war.
Still, if you speak French, it's a great country to live in, it's got some nice dense primary forest, lively cities, beautifull markets, miles and miles of deserted beaches, hillcountry, savanna's, desert, and maybe the nicest, most hospitable people of Africa.
If you respect the local habits, women wearing skirts and man wearing trousers, asking if permitted before grabbing your digicam etc, there is not a lot you can do wrong here! Only in...

The Grandeur of the Cote D'Azur
Advantages: Every advantage a hotel could have
Disadvantages: none!
...I never thought I would one day actually stay in a Hotel in Nice, France. It's not that I do not go regularly to France, quite on contrary, I just never saw anything special about this city. For me, Nice was just the airport or gateway to the world of Cannes, Antibes, Cap Ferrat, and off course, the stunning Monte Carlo. I found it much more interesting to re-discover the sandy shores of Cannes or the minimalist chic style of St Tropez, or the extravagant Moneguesque nightlife. The idea of this chilled out beach was not very appealing when compared to its neighbouring tourist hotspots.
Being the self-titled "holiday booking disaster" that I am, I offcourse leave everything to the week previous to my departure and, therefore, must content myself with whatever is available. This vicious cicle seems to happen year-after-year of Cote D...

A Refreshing White & The Price Is Alright!
Advantages: A very refreshing white wine.
Disadvantages: None
...Vin de Pays des Cotes de Gascogne
I bought this bottle of White Wine from Alldays and it cost me £3.49 for the 75cl bottle. (So, I bought two!)
On the front label it says :
Co-op Vin de Pays des Cotes de Gascogne
(Alldays is now owned by the Co-op so I reckon both shops should still have stocks.)
It smells :
Fresh, Lemony, Grapefruity & Melony with a hint of Pear Drops.
It tastes :
Lemony, yet very smooth, with a slightly sharp aftertaste.
First Impression :
A very light wine. I reckon I could drink two bottles of this light wine with ease. No food required. It leaves a slight tingle on the tongue and it is very refreshing. It's a wine to be enjoyed at all times. A wine to be shared with friends in great quantities or slowly enjoyed in a very self-indulgent manner as I did. I actually drank the first bottle whilst...

A dark experience of the chocolate kind
Advantages: divine
Disadvantages: none
...Come on have a dark experience with me, a piece of Cote d'or Experiences 70% Cocoa.
I love dark chocolates and this is no exception. You can buy a 100g bar in Tescos for £1.29p. This bar is wrapped seductively in a dark card wrapper with gold writing. It looks like a glimmer of light is falling on a picture square of chocolate.
I open the packet and reveal a dark coloured chocolate. This chocolate is quite a thin layer not thick and chunky.
The squares are quite large not many in the bar, 6 or was it 8 squares in this 100g bar. It is possible to break each square into a smaller piece.
The chocolate is quite brittle.
Pop a square into your mouth and the flavour is dark and intense. The chocolate smooth and silky on your tongue There is a crisp outer shell of chocolate which when bitten breaks into the rich dark chocolate...

A DARK (chocolate) EXPERIENCE
Advantages: Long lasting flavour
Disadvantages: Not for those who dislike dark chocolate
..."Cote d'Or" Experiences 100g bar.
As you probably know, I enjoy the occasional taste of chocolate. This week I thought I would return to dark chocolate, as it is meant to be a healthier option to milk chocolate (which I prefer). The Cote d'Or Experiences 70% cocoa dark is the one that I decided to try, for the first time. I was curious as to why they have an elephant as a logo and also my knowledge of Cote d'Or centres around the wine region off France. So, some research of their website was necessary.
Some Facts
* Charles Neuhaus, a Belgian, set out to find cocoa beans to make his new chocolate. He found them in West Africa (then known as The Gold Coast ( Cote d'Or) and this inspired his choice of an elephant logo. Well, that sorts out the name and logo mystery.
* The beans still come from West Africa...

Summers coming
Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: none
...Yes, yes, yes, summer is really on its way now, nights are lighter and I have spent a couple of hours in the garden, planting plants, mowing the lawns and power washing the patio.
Oooh I feel in a good mood and when I?m in a good mood I need a cheap and cheerful pick me up.
What do I go for Tesco cotes du Rhone? For just £2.78 for 75cl ?12.5% volume?who am I to complain.
I do complain naughty I know, but if I am working my butt off in the garden, I need cheaper than that, so what do I do. I order a case of six from Tesco and it works out at £2.64 per bottle a saving of 14pence a bottle, it doesn?t sound much but add it up all summer and you?ll be surprised.
This is Tescos cotes du rhone. The bottle is green, the label is white with the words cotes du rhone written in deep red.
This wine is made from grapes grown in...

Where I learned to love the Cote d'Azur
Advantages: It?s France (with a soupçon of Italy)
Disadvantages: It's the Riviera
...You either love or loathe the Côte d?Azur. There is no middle way. Like all places that are extremes of their kind, it excites extreme responses, both for and against.
Five minutes on La Croisette ? the promenade ? at Cannes is enough to confirm me in my life membership of the loathers. The place is so insufferably pleased with itself. The swanky hotels, each with its private parasoled stretch of beach across the palmy boulevard, down which red Ferraris and air-conditioned black or silver Mercedes cruise, their numbers swelled by stretch limos during the Film Festival. The posh apartment blocks that blister the leafy hill behind the town ? ?Californie? as it is locally known. The ostentatious white yachts in the harbour with their ostentatious bronzed owners noisily treating cronies to champagne. The fur-coated widows...

You MUST try this!!
Advantages: Delicious
Disadvantages: You might eat too much!
...This chocolate is pure heaven. It is like diving into a pool of liquid dark chocolate. The intense flavour is smooth and melts on your tongue- absolutely delicious.
Cote D'or select the best cocoa beans from west Africa to make this divine chocolate. It is rich and indulgent- with every bite you feel like youre spoiling yourself. The dark chocolate squares break off easily and it is easy to bite into, unlike many dark chocolate bars that make you feel like your teeth should be chisels.
Cote D'or Noir contains 70% cocoa solids. It is also naturally high in antioxidants- each 3 squares contains 50% of the daily amount of polyphenols, known for their antioxidant qualities. So you can enjoy this chocolate whilst knowing that its doing you good!
INGREDIENTS
Cocoa mass, sugar, cocoa butter, fat reduced cocoa, milk fat, flavourings...

Come Fly with the Sun.
Advantages: Such diversity of countryside & coast.
Disadvantages: too much choice, not enough time. unless you live there!
....
CANNES FILM FESTIVAL.
This same week, we finished our travel of discovery with a trip the the Cannes Film Festival, once again by coach, organised from the camp. It was Saturday, and the RED CARPET was there laid out to welcome all the stars. We squeezed into a space immediately opposite the steps, and had a really squashed but wonderful view. The evening evening was cloudy and damp, but the Carousels and play areas for the little one in our family was a great relaxation from the excitement of the evening.
This then is my impression of the Cote d' Azure. We did manage to see othere interesting place around the area. Port Frejuse was classy, with a quaint bridge over the river to view 360 degree view of the town, port and yachts. At night with a full moon, it was magical.
The Lavender fields, quaint villages, and the Gorge finished off...
