A dark experience of the chocolate kind
Advantages: divine
Disadvantages: none
...Come on have a dark experience with me, a piece of Cote d'or Experiences 70% Cocoa.
I love dark chocolates and this is no exception. You can buy a 100g bar in Tescos for £1.29p. This bar is wrapped seductively in a dark card wrapper with gold writing. It looks like a glimmer of light is falling on a picture square of chocolate.
I open the packet and reveal a dark coloured chocolate. This chocolate is quite a thin layer not thick and chunky.
The squares are quite large not many in the bar, 6 or was it 8 squares in this 100g bar. It is possible to break each square into a smaller piece.
The chocolate is quite brittle.
Pop a square into your mouth and the flavour is dark and intense. The chocolate smooth and silky on your tongue There is a crisp outer shell of chocolate which when bitten breaks into the rich dark chocolate...

A DARK (chocolate) EXPERIENCE
Advantages: Long lasting flavour
Disadvantages: Not for those who dislike dark chocolate
..."Cote d'Or" Experiences 100g bar.
As you probably know, I enjoy the occasional taste of chocolate. This week I thought I would return to dark chocolate, as it is meant to be a healthier option to milk chocolate (which I prefer). The Cote d'Or Experiences 70% cocoa dark is the one that I decided to try, for the first time. I was curious as to why they have an elephant as a logo and also my knowledge of Cote d'Or centres around the wine region off France. So, some research of their website was necessary.
Some Facts
* Charles Neuhaus, a Belgian, set out to find cocoa beans to make his new chocolate. He found them in West Africa (then known as The Gold Coast ( Cote d'Or) and this inspired his choice of an elephant logo. Well, that sorts out the name and logo mystery.
* The beans still come from West Africa...

I've had better chocolate ice creams than Carte D'Or
Advantages: Looks attractive, gives a sense of luxury
Disadvantages: Chocolate taste overpowers the white ice cream, awkward lid
...I have just - finally - managed to finish a 900ml tub of Carte D'Or Chocolate Inspiration ice cream that was bought some time ago and has been lingering in our freezer for some time, being ignored in favour of other flavours of ice cream that have much more appeal in my mind. Although I am well known for my love of chocolate and also recognised to be particularly fond of ice cream, this offering from Walls just doesn't work for me.
The first point of difficulty I noted with the ice cream was the tub. For some reason, these fancier (and more expensive) one-litre tubs of ice cream seem to come in more glamorous looking tubs than the standard, Walls Soft Scoop, square two-litre tubs of vanilla and I am not sure why. The Carte D'Or tub is one of those too-rounded-to-be-a-rectangle shapes which features an irritating, "breakaway" plastic tab...

The D'Or To Ice Cream Heaven
Advantages: Makes a nice change from 'Ben and Jerry's'
Disadvantages: Calorie Packed, Not cheap
...If I ever went on ?Mastermind? my specialist subject might well be Cherry Ice Cream (well its no weirder than the bloke who chose ?Cements Used In Hip Replacement? now is it?!)
I see myself as something of a cherry ice cream connoisseur and although Ben and Jerry?s ?Cherry Garcia? reigns supreme as the ice cream of choice in my household there is a young pretender to its throne?enter Carte D?Or Spagnola ice cream.
Carte D?Or ice cream isn?t new to the market and according to my ?extensive? research is the number one brand in Britain ? one in 10 people have now eaten Carte D?or ice cream (that was my useless fact for the day ? an even more useless one being that enough Carte D?or ice cream is sold in Britain each year to stretch from Lands End to John O?Groats and back again ? imagine the hassle getting to work if you had to negotiate...

You MUST try this!!
Advantages: Delicious
Disadvantages: You might eat too much!
...This chocolate is pure heaven. It is like diving into a pool of liquid dark chocolate. The intense flavour is smooth and melts on your tongue- absolutely delicious.
Cote D'or select the best cocoa beans from west Africa to make this divine chocolate. It is rich and indulgent- with every bite you feel like youre spoiling yourself. The dark chocolate squares break off easily and it is easy to bite into, unlike many dark chocolate bars that make you feel like your teeth should be chisels.
Cote D'or Noir contains 70% cocoa solids. It is also naturally high in antioxidants- each 3 squares contains 50% of the daily amount of polyphenols, known for their antioxidant qualities. So you can enjoy this chocolate whilst knowing that its doing you good!

Cocoa mass, sugar, cocoa butter, fat reduced cocoa, milk fat, flavourings...

Cala D'or
Advantages: Great Weather - Lots to do
Disadvantages: None
...I have been to Majorca twice now and have immensely enjoyed the experience. Both times I stayed in a small rseort called Cala D'orada. Cala D'or itself is a very nice town, with some very good restaurants and a picturesque harbour, full of a fantastic array of yachts. The nightlife is also very good with very reasonable prices.
There is lots to amuse yourself once you are there. Cala D'or has some very good beaches and there is accomodation practically on the beach if thats what you enjoy doing on holiday. There is also things for the energetic holiday goer. I have for two years now enjoyed windsurfing in Majorca, with a small fantastically run surf school. They cater for all abilities with great beginner courses and fun for the seasoned windsurfer alike. There is also sea kayaking and many other water sports as you would...

Cala D'or
Advantages: cheap booze, white sandy beeches, and great shops
Disadvantages: you have to go home at the end of your holiday
...Cala Do'r is split up into several bays from cala Serena to Cala D'or itself there all fantastic, With great sandy beeches, pubs, altough the main nightlife is in Cala D'or itself From sports bars like Linekars to traditional Irish Pubs and everything inbetween. It may not be as livly as Palma nova and Magaluf but what can you expect. The booze is quite cheap so you can drink to your haerts content. The streets are filled with people of all ages so there is bount to be someone there that you will like. During the day ( if you are up) there are shops full of a wide selection of souveniers and gifts for the whole family. I highly recomend Cala D'or for family's as children are aloud in some of the quieter pubs. I also recomend Cala D'or for students and other young adults as it is plain and simply teen heaven!...

Cote D'Azur
Advantages: More affordable thank you think !!
Disadvantages: Not many I can think of
...The Cote D'Azur is the term that refers to the French Riviera and encompasses - among others - the three cities Nice, Cannes, and Monaco. The latter is a "Principality", which is self-governed and sovereign from the rest of France.
The area is served by Nice Cote D'Azur International Airport, which is approximately 2 hours flight from the UK. Although, this is slightly dependent upon the airport you depart from. Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, and Stansted would all fall into this travel category, where as Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester would all be closer to 2 ½ hours travel time.
Due to the close proximity of the three cities mentioned, I have never been to this region of France without visiting all three together!! Although, of the 3, Nice is probably the city I have spent the least amount of time, maybe because it is located in...

Cala D'or - managing to do it all!
Advantages: Lovely safe area
Disadvantages: Distance from airports and the islands waterparks
...I have grown up holidaying in Cala D'or. This whole resort is a beutiful area, with about 8 small cove beaches rather than long impersonal stretches that you get elsewhere on the island. The centre is entirely pedestrianised meaning the kids can play in safety. The centre is a mass of reseteraunts catering for all budgets and food tastes. I have never gotten tired of it and have found something for me as I have got older, enjoying the pubs and bars (although not many clubs) as much as I enjoyed the beaches and great pools when I was younger.
The area is predominently English tourists as well as Scandanavian with lots of hotels and apartments to match nearly any budget - including the youth hostel!
A great place easily accessible by road and quick to get to sample the "real Mallorca" away from the tourist areas, although it over...

Sa marina hotel 'cala d'or'
Advantages: Central location, near to the beach
Disadvantages: Limited evening entertainment
...to offer.
There are untold restaurants about 5 minutes walk away, with many bars & pubs, a few english pubs also. Plenty of shops ranging from clothes, leathers & souvenirs.
The hotel lies just far enough away from the center so it is very quiet , even in the evening. There is evening entertainment which i would say is more catered for small children, & pool games is laid on by the staff daily, mainly pool volley ball. There is also pool towel hire for a small deposit. There is an indoor pool also & a gym.
There are a few small sandy beaches near by, the best one is esmeralda beach, being the biggest one out of the others which serve drinks & snacks. This beach is about a 10 min walk from the hotel, & has plenty of sun loungers with grass parasoles, but are chargeable for a small fee.
The main center of cala d'or all closes by midnight...
