...The Counting House The Counting House is part of the Wetherspoon's chain of pubs, which you don't really notice from the outside. It's located in the centre of Glasgow on St. Vincent's Place, which is across from George's Square. It is located in a really good place, it's so close to the main shopping part of Glasgow and George's Square looks gorgeous around Christmas with all the lights. From the outside, the building is amazing. It's quite similar to a lot of the architecture around Glasgow which I love. Inside, there are high ceilings and it looks really quite beautiful, you do feel like you're in an old-fashioned, stately home. There is a huge bar in the middle of the room, surrounded by bar stools. There are also high tables around the centre of the room. If you go a little further from the bar you will find tables...

Counting Who?!

Advantages: Great mixture of songs, very talented band
Disadvantages: None for me

...Counting Crows are an American band that never really made it big in this country which is a real shame as they are so talented! They were formed back in 1990 and are still together after all these years! They tour the UK every couple of years and although they are my favourite band of all time I have not yet seen them in concert as I am not a fan of crowded places! The album 'August and Everything After' was released back in 1993 and it was the soundtrack to my youth, blimey that makes me feel old now! I listen to this album on a regular basis even today and never get bored of it as it is still my favourite! The tracks are as follows: 1. Putting the Beat into the Beatles

...When thinking through covers of famous songs the concept of this album would not be the first to spring to mind. A big band, swinging jazz rendition of some of the Beatles finest hits. In reviewing this album I can't speak for fans of the Beatles. Whilst recognising the musicianship of the Beatles they have never been part of my musical 'taste' . So I'm interested to know - does this come across as a suitable tribute, from one great artist to another? Can the music of the Beatles ever hope to remain great when reworked in this way? As for me, well I love it, in concept at least. Count Basie never fails to provide the most fulfilling big band sound. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Singing and Swinging

Advantages: Two greats performing together, superb tracklisting
Disadvantages: None!

...Frank Sinatra and Count Basie? Together on one disc? Genius. This is a thoroughly superb album. Sinatra is one of the greatest singers and performers, Basie one of the next jazz musicians and orchestrators. Together they combine to provide a musical production og genuine quality. The 'live' aspect is, perhaps unsurprisingly, what brings this album truly alive. With the raw edge that is present without studio editing there is a real sense of being there whilst this music is being created - and that is the key. This music hasn't been rehearsed and played and cut and edited and re-edited until it is 'musical perfection'. The music lives because it is there as a genuine interaction between people. Sinatra is singing for this audience, Basie is playing for Sinatra, the audience responds and all three interact in a real experience...

This current album shot the band to the radio airways in the UK with the massive love song that was released last summer called hey there Delilah. The really interesting part of this story is that Delilah does not actually appear for the first time on the every second counts, but it was the record industry who asked the band to re-release it on the every second counts album. When it was re-released the band promoted the single all across the globe and the single reached number 1 in numerous countries, although surprisingly it only reached number 2 in the UK.
